  1. I have only owned 1 brand new vehicle and I bought it in 1990. A 1990 GMC 1500 series Sierra. It had a 4.3 liter V-6 throttle body and got 28 MPG. It had all basic stuff including crank up and down windows. I paid $8,000.00 cash with trading in my 1985 Ford F150.  I was into bass fishing and traveled a lot to Bass tournaments all over the south east and towed a Bass Boat with this truck. I had a towing package added to the transmission when I first purchased it. I ended up putting 320+ thousand miles on it and kept it well maintained. When I decided to quit fishing traveling fishing trails and began fishing just local stuff I bought a 1997 Jeep Cherokee with a blown engine. A buddy of mine had totaled a 1998 Jeep with a 4.0 in it and he gave it to me if I would get it out of his fathers yard. I had my son move the 1998 motor into my 97 and still driving it today.   I put my GMC out in front yard with $2,000.00 price in window. I didn't want folks just stopping in asking the price. I put it in the yard at 9AM and the new owner drove it home at 11:30 AM. He came to my house and ask if we could test drive. He drove it, handed me 20 100.00 dollar bills and drove off with it. I saw him and the truck about 6 months later and he had completely restored the entire truck and it looked brand new. He said he had a total investment of $5,700.00 invested. He was thrilled with it................. I will drive this jeep as long as I live. My son keeps it maintained so it is very dependable.........
  2. Just thought I would run this past you Sam. If your Z85 has towing issues there is something you can do to help that and it won't break the bank. A good Transmission Man if you can find an honest one can install a towing package kit in your transmission that will assist the motor and enable your truck to accept up to about 4000 lb towing package. There are kits out there just for this. Does not effect fuel mileage either.....................just my :2cents:
  3. Back in 1986 on a beautiful Spring My son had an automobile accident that took less than a second to happen but my insurance company paid 3.1 million dollars over 4 years in medical and I still lost him. I don't think any one can count on when they can or will get sick but with that said every day is a challenge we all face.   Every one will get screwed in one way or another by ACA if you are forced to purchase it. Your premiums may be low but the deductibles is what will destroy most people. How many people can just pull 3 or 4 grand out of the bank to pay a doctor or hospital before insurance begins to pay anything and how many times can a person do it if another family should fall sick in same time period?...................................................jmho
  4. Is that forever or for a year?
  5. I got 1 mag with my Bersa Thunder but was able to purchase 3 more at cost from a FFL buddy.   Now I would just be tickled totally Pink if I could find just 1 more for my Bersa Model 85 and I would be totally set.     I wish they would at least supply 2 back ups with 1 in the gun at time of purchase of any new gun.............jmho.
  6. Quote "This is getting out of control now."   Yes it is but only because he is running out of time and getting desperate to get something passed or get around the 2nd Amendment before he is out of office. That is also why it is so very important that his office is not filled with the Hildebeast next election or she will walk in his foot steps..............jmho
  7. In all honesty I think Obama knows exactly what he is doing. The politicians and news Medias that say Obama doesn't have a clue what he is doing I think are all wrong. He does know what he is doing and he is doing exactly what he wants to do and that is to weaken America in every way possible and it is working to a point. The only thing he has not been able to do is disarm the American people and that is what is preventing him from making his entire plan work. "An American with a gun behind every blade of Grass" was what prevented an invasion of the Japanese right after Pearl Harbor and that was back in 1941. That was a quote from an Imperial Japanese Admiral aboard  a Japanese aircraft that was steaming back to Japan from Pearl harbor when he was asked why they did not attack the American homeland. I would be afraid to try and count all the guns behind blades of grass in this country now but you can bet it's a lot more than back in 1941..................jmho
  8. Welcome to the site and welcome to Tennessee............ I'm sure you will enjoy the site and folks here. They are a great bunch of folks for sure.............
  9. I find they work quite well also. I have about 10 of them on different walls and doors around my place. When folks that have not been here before ask me about them I tell that that as my aim improves I replace old ones with new ones. They just get this blank kind of stare and change subjects. A few of my friends will warn someone that has never been to my house that I have strange ideas when it comes to decor so just try to ignore it............
  10. I love were I live. My home cannot be seen from the street so they don't even know I am back here. I do have one of these on my door which seems to even bother a few people that stop in with buddies of mine that don't know me personally. 11. Probably not if you have 1 ten round magazine and 2 boxes of ammo..................jmho
  12. I posted a like to this but not because of the videos. Those were disgusting. I posted my like to David's comment..................
  13. Several years back while I was still working at a Gulf Station there was a guy came in to peddle a few firearms to be able to purchase gas to continue his trip from Memphis to Chicago. My boss asked him what he had and when the guy opened his trunk I am guessing there was at least 100+ hand guns of all makes and models. I looked at my boss and he said there was nothing in there he could use and I said that also but I added that I had a few buddies that had mentioned they were looking to buy a few hand guns. I told him if he could come back in a hour they would be here. I cannot believe the guy was stupid enough to come back but he did. There was some sweet guns but we both knew better than to buy any. I got the plate number of the Lincoln Town car he was driving and relayed it to a couple friends of mine on Metro Vice. They had been looking for this guy for almost a month. He was not going to Chicago. He was peddling his wears right here in Nashville.   George McNeal and Dale Street showed up and were there when the guy came back. He opened the trunk and was cuffed almost before it go open all the way. I spoke with Dale about a week later and every gun this guy was selling was stolen in Memphis, Mississippi, or Arkansas. There is not any doubt in my mind that there are probably 1000's more guys just like him out there selling stolen guns and that is where most of the bad guys get their guns, not gun show parking lots................jmho
  14. The anti gun grabbers are always unhinged about something and they will remain unhinged.................jmho
  15. :ugh: Not getting involved in this one cause I like being a member here..............
  16. When are the Dumbo's on the left going to realize that every time they present a bill to curb gun violence that more and more people go out and buy more guns. Last week after the terrorist attack they said over 185,000 people made application to purchase a gun in California alone. The shocking part about that was a large percentage of them were people in their 60's and 70's that until then had never owned a firearm. I guess the American people have finally learned it's better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it...........jmho
  17. Tazer joke Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for for a little something extra for my wife Julie. What I came across was a 100,000-volt pocket/purse-sized Tazer. The effects of the Tazer were supposed to be short lived, with no long term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to saftey...?? WAY TOO COOL!!! Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home...I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button and pressed it against a metal surface at the same time, I'd get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs. AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what the burn spot is on the face of her microwave. Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two AAA batteries, right? There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target. I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a secone) and then thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself againist a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised. Am I wrong? So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and Tazer in another. The directions said that: A one second burst would shock and disorient your assailant A two second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; and A three second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water. Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting batteries. All the while I'm looking at this little device measuring about 5" long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference (loaded with two itsy, bitsy AAA batteries) pretty cute really, and thinking to myself, "no possible way"!! What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my best. I'm sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side so as to say, "Don't do it stupid", reasoning that a one second burst from such a tiny lil ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad...I decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it. I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and ..... HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. WHAT THE ....!!!! I'm pretty sure Hulk Hogan ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs! The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room. Note- If you ever feel compelled to "mug" yourself with a Tazer one note of caution: There is NO such thing as a one second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by violent thrashing about on the floor!! A three second burst would be considered conservative! A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape. My bent reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace. *The recliner was upside down and about 8 feet or so from where it originally was. *My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching. *My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. *I had no control over the drooling. *Apparently I had crapped in my shorts, but was too numb to know for sure, and my sense of smell was gone. *I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head, which I believe came from my hair. I'm still looking for my testicles and I'm offering a significant reward for their safe return! My wife can't stop laughing about my experience, loved the gift and now regularly threatens me with it! If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!     Maybe this is what that 67 year old lady should be packing for any guy who need a cigarette lit. It appears it would light up about anyone's smoke..................
  18. All someone has to do these days is say anything out loud what they are thinking and these Anti Gun Fruitcakes come out of the woodwork scheming on how many ways they can use it to push their damn agendas.  I hope this one jumps up and bites that Governor right it both cheeks of his A$$..............jmho
  19. I live right here in Gallatin about a mile from everything related to heavy traffic and for the last several years I have had a Gray fox living in the huge thick fence row that separates my yard and neighbors behind me and the fence row runs about 1.5 miles in length. Three years ago I had a doe and two fawns in my back yard but the Gray fox has taken up residency cause just before dark on many occasions I have seen it walking along the edge of the fence row. From time to time I will put a piece of raw chicken along the route it normally follows about an hour before dark. I will go back and check on it several hours later and it will be gone about 80% of the time. I'm hoping to keep it close and out of harms way if possible. I do wish I had a trail cam to get a few shots of it......................
  20. Well, I'm pretty sure I would be hard to buy for since I have not ever really asked for anything much at all in my posts. Not really a lot I could use that falls within the price perimeters set by the rules. A  prepaid visa gift card would work for me if my Santa is still looking for something for me. They can be used about anyplace I would be going to purchase anything. I think gift cards are a blessing this day in time. It is something everyone can use at some time to purchase merchandise that a person can use rather than getting someone something they might never use.......jmho
  21. Good thing is it is back where it belongs and not in some bad guys pocket............
  22. They are telling Americans "if you see something, say something."  That is all the Walmart did and I don't blame them for it. I think the police should have held them until FBI or Homeland Security could check these men out. Now that they know people are watching for things if these guys do have ugly plans they will probably speed their plans before anyone higher up can investigate them.......jmho
  23. Unless you are in a Gun Free Zone which I am sure you would not be then what difference does it make? If you are legal to carry and like most have said, not nervous about someone seeing you your good to go...........jmho
  24. I guess I fall in the RedNeck category too. I will cling to my bible and my guns until they take either or both from my cold dead clammy hands......
  25. I think if they were going to claim asylum they would have done it when they first entered the country...........jmho
