  1. Very wonderful First Lady in every way. RIP and hope you are with your best friend ...................
  2. I had a brother that use to live in Southern California. About 6 years ago he and his wife bought a home in Texas. At that time he said many many people he new out there where doing the same thing he did. Sell their home and ge to out of that state. He said they moved and never looked back.......He said the politics in that state are totally crazy yet the people continue re-electing them back into office over and over............ :wall:
  3. If our elected officials would tell the EPA to quit catering to the Ethanol lobbyists and do away with it our fuel costs would go down and so would the price of corn. If they did that everyone would see improved fuel mileage in what ever they drove. Fuel costs in California have always been high. Back years ago during the building of the Alaska Pipe line they made all kinds of promises to California that once completed the fuel costs would come down. "LIE" They didn't come down went up even though the states refineries did receive a bulk amount of the oil from the pipeline with Japan getting the rest. It just seems that California will always have high gas prices because California will always have politicians full with tons of promises and only providing HOT AIR................jmho
  4. If I lived in New York City I would not admit I had a gun or a collection of guns to the public. He is gone from home or his Apartment for long periods of time while filming and it would make his home a prime target by admitting he had a gun or more in his home.  I still support him and his movies...........jmho
  5. yea, he is a real gun person and not one of those bigots in Hollywood that makes movies using guns and then off the set talk trash about guns and gun owners while they make millions using them in their movies.............
  6. Ok Thanks. I must have just missed it the first time it came around....................... :wall:
  7. Got this from Newsmax and thought I would ask if folks know anything about it and is it a true survey?.........     https://www.nagr.org/UNgunban_RP.aspx?pid=nm01
  8. Sally Mullihan of Coral Springs, FL decided to take one of the jobs that most Americans are not willing to do. Sally applied for a job at a Florida lemon grove and seemed to be far too qualified for the job.  She had a liberal arts degree from the University of Michigan and had worked as a social worker and as a school teacher. The foreman frowned and said, "I have to ask you, have you had any actual experience in picking lemons?" "Well, as a matter of fact, I have," she said:  "I've been divorced 3 times, owned 2 Chrysler's and I voted twice for Obama."

  9. There are just somethings you can read and then read a year later and laugh just about as hard as the first time. That is why I have them book-marked on my puter.  When I need a pick me up I will go read a couple and makes my day better...........jmho
  10.  If it was not for all of the Green Screen technology in Hollywood most all of the actors would be nobodies. Technology does what real live stunt men/women did back when real movies were made. As far as directors go Clint Eastwood still does a lot with real stunt people in his movies.................JMHO   Todays's actors, and I use the term very loosely, cannot hold a candle for these gentlemen.
  11. Well Don Knots has been resting in peace about 10 years and not his friend George Kennedy has joined him. May they both rest in Peace.............................. They are and will be surely missed.
  12. Yea, I knew it had been around a couple years ago but thought maybe some new members may like to see it. They are back advertising Gold Haribo Bears on GSN ......................
  13. Man you have entirely to much time on your hands but I will pitch in on the bail bond.............
  14. Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for for a little something extra for my wife Julie. What I came across was a 100,000-volt pocket/purse-sized Taser. The effects of the Taser were supposed to be short lived, with no long term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety...?? WAY TOO COOL!!!       Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home...I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button and pressed it against a metal surface at the same time, I'd get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs. AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what the burn spot is on the face of her microwave. Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two AAA batteries, right?    There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target. I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second) and then thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat.     But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised.  Am I wrong? So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and Taser in another. The directions said that:  A one second burst would shock and disorient your assailant.    A two second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; and  A three second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water.      Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting batteries. All the while I'm looking at this little device measuring about 5" long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference (loaded with two itsy, bitsy AAA batteries) pretty cute really, and thinking to myself, "no possible way"!!      What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my best. I'm sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side so as to say, "Don't do it stupid", reasoning that a one second burst from such a tiny lil ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad...I decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it.  I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and ..... HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. WHAT THE ....!!!! I'm pretty sure Hulk Hogan ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again.     I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs! The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room. Note- If you ever feel compelled to "mug" yourself with a Taser one note of caution:      There is NO such thing as a one second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by violent thrashing about on the floor!! A three second burst would be considered conservative! A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point),        I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape. My bent reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace.*The recliner was upside down and about 8 feet or so from where it originally was. *My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching. *My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. *I had no control over the drooling. *Apparently I had crapped in my shorts, but was too numb to know for sure, and my sense of smell was gone.    *I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head, which I believe came from my hair. I'm still looking for my testicles and I'm offering a significant reward for their safe return! My wife can't stop laughing about my experience, loved the gift and now regularly threatens me with it! If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!!
  15. I guess he feels he has to since his friend is no longer setting beside him. I'm glad that he has decided to speak out. You can bet the other Members of the court may not be.............jmho
  16. Yep, back on TV ads again............... :bowrofl:
  17. I see they are advertising these on TV again. I don't know if any one here has read any of the reviews but if not please do before buying them.  Reading them is funny but at the same time you will feel sorry for the person writing the reviews..............jmho     http://www.amazon.com/Haribo-Sugar-Free-Gummy-Bears/product-reviews/B008JELLCA
  18. The way I look at it,    .....................if it ain't broke don't fix it.............For the most part, yes there are instances that poor decisions are made by adults with firearms in the home but not that many. More laws on top of the laws already on the books will not fix anything.........jmho
  19. The down sizing has been going on for more years than most folks have been paying attention. I began to notice it back in the early 90's and all it has done is get worse. I have not paid much attention any more because I am only buying for me and the Mutt now and neither one of us eat as much as we use to. I do a lot of shopping at Sam's these days and I can save more money buying in bulk on the items we use the most. Instead of making 2 or 3 trips to the local grocery store I can make 1 a month or maybe 2 just for stuff like milk and maybe eggs. I bought a box of Cereal at Sam's and it was a double box meaning 2 bags in one box and it lasted me about 2 months and cost about what one family box would have cost and local store. I think these days it's all in smart shopping and being willing to drive a few miles to save money.........jmho
  20. Unless your back is against a  wall you can always begin backing up while deploying your weapon to keep the distance somewhat more manageable. Might be your only chance but better then no chance..........jmho   With that said, I do know a police detective in Lockport, Illinois that had a bad guy walk up behind him one time and he could see him coming by a reflection in the window he was looking in and saw the knife and he shot the bad guy without ever clearing his holster completely. He carried in a Horizontal shoulder and just reached into his coat and fired his weapon taking the bad guy down. Ruined a nice coat but did the job. Folks up that way call him "Riggs" from movie Lethal Weapon around the station house.   I went to school with the guy and he said he knew he did not have time enough to clear, turn to shoot so he clear enough to shoot. He did receive a few slight powder burns on his side and arm but all minor. I think I have the story on my old Computer. I will try and find it and post it.
  21. I'm considering it seriously as neither Kasey or I are getting any younger so might look at early Summer.............
  22. After making this post earlier I decided to give Joey a call and he was glad I did. He said I have thought about you often. We talked for about 85 minutes according to my Cell phone timer and really enjoyed catching up on things. As far as family goes Joey told me he had a house full of Grand children most of the time to keep him busy since his wife still works at hospital down there so he is the baby sitter while the kids all work also. He sure wants me to come and visit and fish Fontana with him. I might just look at it this late Spring/early Summer. He told me I could bring Kasey with me and I laughed. He said I know you don't go to many places without the mutt. Maybe some day you and I can get together and you can share some things about the area gg.     I know if all the folks down that way are like Joey and Judy they have all got to be great folks..........jmho
  23.   Yea, I found that out gg. Joey has invited me down several times to spend some time fishing with him on Lake Fontana for some small mouth's but I have never been able to find the time and after him telling me a little bit about that area, not sure about going.....   He said the Movie "Deliverance" was filmed all around his home and you can walk out on his back porch up on the mountain and see that railroad bridge over the river that was in the movie. He said you can also on a quiet night still hear the banjo's and guitars being picked down on the middle of the mountain even today. He said those people used in the movie where they sat down and played dueling Banjo's on that front porch in the movie were the real people from the mountain along with the ole man that danced. From what I gather most if not all of that particular mountain in Robbinsville must be owned by the same family because every road on the Mountain is name after a past resident of the mountain. All of the roads are named after Bridges family member............ Joey and I speak often even though he has about quit fishing we have remained friends and I guess will for ever. I did get to meet him one time. I was going to spend a week with friends on Lake Douglas and Joey drove about 4 hours through the mountains to spend a day with us. A great friend for sure.........
  24.   I am aware of that and there has been a few times in my life I have witnessed an idiot with a knife close or closer then 21 feet pop out the blade and the guy with a gun just open and reveal his weapon and that does cause the knife guy to hesitate a few seconds because he was not expecting a gun and that does in turn give the gun owner a few extra seconds. Not every time but many times it even discourages the knife guy to back away and forget the idea once the person gets a grip on their firearm...........jmho
  25.   Well, as to the kids lifting and dropping the lock boxes to open them, they had to be taught that. It just does not happen that way in my opinion. And the kid with that fine slide tool he used. I'm willing to bet he was also taught how to do it. I have 3 lock boxes through out my house and I promise you no child will open them. After each purchase I did my own modifications to them that would prevent that. I also  pinned my boxes down to a very stable heavy base so they could not be picked up by any bad guys and toted off to open at a later date. If your going to invest the money in the boxes you also have to invest the time to make sure the boxes work like they should................jmho
