  1. Anyone heard anything about this? http://therighttobear.com/21-in-this-state-buy-a-gun-and-carry-concealed-today/
  2. Sounds like his wife is the one that needs to buy a gun...............jmho
  3. In all honesty, I became a believer of the killing power of a 22 caliber while growing up. When I grew up on my grandfathers ranch I think during that time I took several large deer down with a 22 Caliber rifle when they became a nusinace and were destroying our gardens in the summer. I seldom had to track a deer I shot with a 22 caliber. They might go about 50 yards before falling down dead. That was when I realized how deadly a 22 caliber can be. I never hunted with one but I did use them for nusiance taking and I would donate the deer by calling the local game warden and he would pick it up and take it to be processed for local soup kitchens or needy families in the area.
  4. I totally understand that for sure and I did a lot of testing to find the right ammo. I bet I went through a couple 1000 rounds of different manufacturers to find the best of the best. As far as ballistics go I found that Hornaday, Winchester and Federal had the best I have found. The one I stay away from is Remington more than any other. They will have 2 or 3 misfires in a 10 round magazine. I might have 1 mis fire out of A 200 of the top 3 I use out of either one of my Phoenix semi autos. I also don't use hollow points at all. these are just things I have learned. Other folks may have more information on this topic.
  5. I guess I will be a 380 guy till I die. I own a few and my favorite in my mod 85 Bersa. Now I realize this thread is about pocket carry and size. I know many folks will baulk when I say my preference for pocket pistol is a Phoenix 22 cal. There has been many men killed with 22 caliber firearms and far to many people underestimate the damage a 22 round can do. I know most people think they need something from a 9 to a 40 and then 45 to feel safe. I would not want to get shot at all, even with a 22 caliber but I think a 380 caliber will remain my EDC..................jmho
  6. Just found out that on July 1st Ashbrauners Loan and Pawn in Gallatin will no longer be in business and they have all of their firearms and ammo marked down to sell along with everything else. The Shooting range will also be closed to the public at that time. Sam will remain in a separate part of the building and have the range under his control for the gunsmithing employees to be able to test fire the guns they build and repair.
  7. " It seems that lack of sleep from worrying about ways to get re-elected has fried the brains of those in Washington." The way I see this is the lack of doing anything will be what gets them kicked out of their job. The American people are already tired on a Congress that claims they are working very hard yet nothing is getting done. That is what will get them voted out...............jmho
  8. As a matter of fact I did have a few tomatoes thrown at me but not as many as some I spoke with that did. I think a lot of it was determind by where you touched down. I had to go through Midway Airport in Chicago to catch my connecting flight to Nashville and all the trash talk was at MIdway. Once in Nashville we got a warm welcome.
  9. Can anyone still alive ever remember when the Press was honest and told the real News without lying? I remember my parents talking about watching the news during Vietnam and it was all edited in a way that made the Comunist look like saints and our troops look like trash. My father would get so mad he almost threw a lamp at the TV. That is why our troops were treated like trash when we returned home and greeted at the Airport with eggs and tomatoes. ..............jmho
  10. To the best of my knowledge I don't have any Liberal friends to remind...............jmho
  11. Thanks OS for the wonderful explanation of fish making whoopi but I do tend to follow what the TWRA fish biologists go by since after all breeding and raising fish for stocking is what they do.....................
  12. R.I.P. Capt. Kuss. Prayers go out to his Family. When you fly planes the way the Angels and Thunderbirds do, sooner or later these situations will happen. I would call him a Hero because like most said, he could have punched out but made sure his aircraft did not strike any buildings and there was a school very close to where the plane went down. I lift my glass to another great American.........
  13. When I began bass fishing seriously and competing all we had was topo maps of the lakes. Then came the Lowrance and Hummingbirds soon followed by Garmin. I fished tournaments from 1980 till 2010 with a lot of success winning quit a few tournaments at the Semi-Pro level. I still have a Skeeter Bass Boat but son in law uses it more than I do these days. The units I have on it are an Eagle 320 in dash and on the front and a Garmin GPS beside console. Son In Law asked me the other day if I would mind him upgrading the electronics on it. He is talking about spending over $4,000.00 on the things. He told me he would like to have some side views and all that high end stuff. I ask him if he was having issues catching fish and competing and he said not at all. He has won about 7 or 8 weekend club tournaments already this Spring. He said he would like to see the fish that are around the boat. I said seeing them and catching them are 2 different things but he was not happy so I told him to do what he wanted up front and in dash but the Garmin GPS stays for when I use the Skeeter. I won't even turn those fancy things on but I do have waypoints on that Garmin for both the local lakes I fish and I will use those to fish by. I guess I just live with the thought of "if it ain't broke don't fix it."
  14. My Flag is proudly flying this day. It flys everyday but on this day it is always a new one. I will honor the Fallen, Veterans and Active until the day I die.
  15. I understand that Oh Shoot. But what happens is the dominate males will prevent the smaller males from getting on the beds. If you remove a bunch of dominate males from the bedding area that opens the door for the younger males to service the beds thus keeping the Shell cracker populations thriving. That is why I don't keep any of the yonger males or females. I learned this from a TWRA fish biologist back about 15 years ago. The females that have their dominate male taken will go and get a younger male to do her deeds with the dominate ones gone.
  16. I just spoke with a buddy yesterday and he said he found 2 beds on Wednesday in about 3 feet of water on Old Hickory and he brought 30 males back home. He does same thing I do. He only will keep the larger males that are almost Black and releases the females and smaller males so the spawn will continue and the Shell Crackers will always be in our lakes. And yea, I like eating them better than Crappie and they are much more fun on light tackle than crappie are to catch!!!!....................
  17. A few of my buddies have been looking for Shell Cracker beds on Old Hickory and are catching a dew here and there but not finding any beds yet. I willi go when they finally go on beds. I have three places on OHL that they will bed in one of them every year and one good is all a person needs to put a bunch in the freezer. I went last year and found to large beds and put over a 200 filets in the freezer in 3 days. Good luck to yall...........
  18. Obama made the gun even more popular when he made the statement, " If I had a son he would have looked lile Trevon" Obama had no business even getting involved in the case................jmho
  19. I'm so broke If it cost a penny to.. :poop:  I would have to throw up!!!!!

  22. Well, being an old retired Certified Mechanic I don't recall not opening the hood first thing on any car or truck I was going to work on unless I was plugging a flat tire on the car. Even on an oil change first thing done was rasie the hood period. As for these new fancy Technigological pieces of junk being built today they call cars are killing and maming people just driving down the road with air bags exploding, ignition switches just shutting off and computera taking over the car and not allowing drivers to slow down as the car continues to gain speed and brakes failing to help.  My son was working on one of the pieces of junk a few years back because he is also a certified mechanic when the computer took over and car began to pick up speed. All he did was put the car in neutral and pull hard on emergency brake to stop the vehicle as the motor reveved up till it blew up because the rev limiter in the computer failed because the computer had failed. The average drivers don't know to take it out of gear and pull the cable driven emergency brake. Toyota had to pick up the car from his shop and take it to a dealer that had to fixed the entire car including a new engine.  Shortly there after that model and several others went on manditory re call.    I will continue to own old cars until I am having dirt shoveled in my face with a marble stone for a pillow. I drive a 1997 Jeep Cherokee and that will be the newest vehicle I will ever own.....................jmho
  23. He helped me out with some 22 ammo back when it was not on shelves anywhere and had great prices.......................
  24. Evidently all those so called celebrities think anyone would miss them if they did leave!!!!  I damn sure would not for one. They must really think all the people like them ot something. There are real celebrities and then there a re Tinsel Town CLOWNS and these that are talking about leaving are all in the CLOWN catagory...................jmho
  25. I have learned long ago that a person that is running for a position will say what ever he believes the people want to hear at any given time. Trump is not stupid and he knows how many gun owners there are in America and how many votes he can gain by saying what he knows we want to hear. The proof is in the puddling. If he is elected his actions will be far more important than his words prior to his election........................jmho
