  1. This reminds me of my grandfather back many years ago. We had goats on the ranch and he called them lawn mowers. He kept them a in a field west of the front yard of the house and had a gate in the fence leading from the field to the front yard and once a about every 2 weeks he would get someone to let the goats in the front yards for about a week and they would cut it down to the ground and then he would have them put back in the field. I offer to cut the grass so we didn't have goats in the front yard but he was having none of that. He said thats what goats are for and there was no arguing with Grandfather. Be surprised what about 20 goats can do to a 1 acre yard.
  2. Stuff like that happens daily in Nashville, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. Gallatin has been in the news more in the last year than it was in the 1st 16 years I lived here for violent crimes. I agree OS, anyone one of those things could be a motive for a crime but recently in Nashville it is 14 and 15 year old kids killing each other so I am figuring gang related but could be wrong. Just know I don't walk to my mail box any more with out a gun...............JMHO
  3. I'm just thrilled they got the Ba-tard before he got to actually fullfil his dream. Maybe Big Bubba will fill his dream for him in Prison..................
  4. I will say this. I attended another concert which was 1 nighter and it was just before I lost my wife and it was the last one we got to attend together and it was probably the one I remember the most. It was right here in Nashville at Starwood. It was almost not announced and it was just filling a void they had but it was Lynyrd Skynyrd Marshal Tucker performing a Concert. Starwood had a cancellation on a show and they stepped up to fill the void since they were between concerts. There was several stars that just showed up to join in and when they thought they had closed the show the crowd would not leave and we all kept protesting that we were not leaving not leaving till they performed FREE BIRD. They finally came back out on stage and performed it and did it is style for about 10 solid minutes. No it was not a Woodstock but it remains in my mind like it was yesterday..................
  5. I guess I should be as excited as many other people but I don't plan on making any extra plans to go out of my way to see it. If I can view it from my yard fine, I might take a few minutes to do so but other than that I will watch it on the news.....JMHO
  6. There are a lot of unanswered questions to this for sure. I read everything in the news release and not one thing was mentioned about the man that sent him the plane ticket and offered to buy him a car when he arrived in Knoxville other than what the family member mentioned. No name was mentioned at all. It would seem he might be at least a person of interest?.............JMHO
  7. I have a ammo site on one of my old computers that I will try and find later that had about any and all knds of shotgun ammo a person could want. They had ammo that would do more damage then some IED's. One I saw that was interesting was you could shoot completely through a car with it in the 3 inch Magnum version and kill who ever was on the other side if they were not protected by the engine. Myself, I have never seen a need for that type of stuff but I am sure some people are. I'm happy with my 3 inch mags in 00 buck or BB shot.
  8. Well if you want to talk about festivals that are not just music related I went to an ICAST Fishing show in Vegas about 12 years ago and they said the 5 day attendance to that event alone was between 350,000 and 400,000 paid admissions. I didn't make this post to argue about how many shows are bigger or smaller. I was just curious to see if there happened to be any WoodStockers here besides me?
  9. The suspects were not great shots, thank god. Of the 81 rounds they fired at police, only 1 hit an officer. He lived. They were not bad shots at the Christmas Party, reason being they were shooting and killing defenseless people. That was alot different when they have incoming hot lead. It kind of makes it a lot harder to hit your target when your dodging hot incoming lead. It does sound like the police officers do need more range time but it also sounds like the bad guys didn't stop shooting after they had been hit if they each we shot 15 times before they went down.
  10. It was all over WLS radio out of Chicago and the DJ's were pumped about it.
  11. There have been many concerts larger than Woodstock. I won't argue that fact but there has never been 1 to have that many attend a multi performer festival which is not a concert. Woodstock was actually scheduled for a 3 day event but had to be extended a 4th day to get all the performers in. In 1994 Neil Diamond had a concert at Copacabana Beach that had 3.5 million but it was 1 day event. Garth Brooks had 750,000 at a concert in Central park in New York but yet again it was a 1 day concert. Simon and Garfunkle also had a concert in Central Park NY and had 500,000 but again it was a 1 day concert. They had big crowds for 1 day not 400,000 for 4 days like Woodstock. Can you post the name of the Festival you plan on attending that will surpass Woodstocks attendance in a few weeks?
  12. That is a disorder that most gun enthusiast have to some extent. If I had the pocket book some folks have I would buy more and I am glad I don't..........
  13. Yep, you had a Rolls Royce of Home Entertainment Centers of that era for sure. My folks had a Magnavox I think but not sure anymore what it was. I know it was a big and took up half of one wall in their living room and very heavy to move..........
  14. Then if you have a collection of don't shoots buy the rifle and add it to your No Shoot Collection....................
  15. I should know something in the next day or two. I try to unload my magazines at least once a month to unload the mag springs and give them a rest and it got to where it was wearing hard on my thumb to do that and that is why I really wanted this tool. I know that is a topic that has been discussed on here a few times but I just think it keeps the springs holding their proper pressure when loaded. That is just a decision I do for my own peace of mind.
  16. Yea and they are trying to figure out more charges to apply to him. Lawyers in Nashville have already stepped up and volunteered to represent him for free and one of the restaurants here in Nashville has offered to pay all his fines. It was funny when a person from the TBI said they have heard of about every other weapon ever used but this is the first time a catfish was called a weapon...........ROFLMAO
  17. How about that catfish deal? Guy from Tennessee threw a catfish out on the ice and they are going to file a bunch of charges against him.................
  18. I don't know about that.........lol. A buddy of mine owns Buffalo Petes Bar b Que down there across from Co-op that makes some mighty fine Brisket and Bar-b-Que..........
  19. I am far from being a computer Guru so bare with me on this. When a post is made it uses band width if I am not mistaken. With that said everytime a classified ad is posted it uses twice the band width because it posts 2 ads which has to cost extra. Like I said, I am not by any means the sharpest knife in the drawer when it come to computers and I may be totally wrong. If so someone please correct me........
  20. Ok, so today I bought a UpLULA Magazine assist Loader to save my thumb from being worn out trying to load the double stack mags............
  21. Well once again I got to meet and spend some time with aTGO member and once again it was a great experience to meet MacGyver and put a face with a name and had a very enjoyable visit. I took him up and introduced him to Steelharp at Sumner Gun and Supply and he also was glad to meet MacGyver so it was a double hitter for sure. Great guy and enjoyed the visit for sure.......................
  22. I have always been one to say, if it ain't broke don't fix it and I didn't see much if anything wrong with the old system so I voted to go back. I also am not buying or selling as much as I once was so I can live with it either way so what ever you decide on will be fine with me...............
  23. I doubt there will ever be another Woodstock! That was different time and era and those days are long gone. The young people of today have far to much hatred built up in them and the young people back then were called Love Children and yea they protested but they didn't set out to destroy other peoples property like young people today. Look at Berkeley back then and look at Berkeley today and that should tell folks everything they need to know..............jmho
  24. Well, that is the way most deer hunting is. Hard to find land that they wil let you hunt and almost impossible today. Back then when I was a kid my grandfather owned the original Petway Farm which was the first farm settled in the comunity of Petway in Cheatham. The families name was Petway and my grandfather won the place in a card game back in 1932 with hand of small full house. In 1949 he began breeding horses and changed the name from a farm to Petway Ranch and that is when I post something about it I normally will say Ranch/Farm cause he actually raise all kinds of farm animals. There was also another almost 1200 acres of crop land and pasture land and the house my grandfather lived in was the original Yellow Popular Log house that was built in 1851. The Petways actually fought indians out of the upper level of the house and a person can still find great arrow heads and mini balls if you can get permission to used a metal detector and walk around the old house which still stands to this day. My Grandfathers name was Lee Greer and what use to be the driveway to the house is now a road named after him and it goes back into the little community that now exists when my parents sold off the ranch after my Grandfathers death. It was sold with conditions that each lot was to be sold in 20 acre tract and the buyer was only allowed 1 house and 1 out building or small barn. No mobile homes are permitted. My oldest son is buried in the Petway Cemetery s I make regular visits back to the ranch to make sure his grave is being taken care of...............
  25. Yea, from what I have heard over the years there were a few Woodstock type mini comcerts across the country. I think that is what this one called Bonaroo that comes to Manchester Tennessee every year is trying to imitate. I know a few people that have attended it but I have never had the desire to go............JMHO
