  1. That would be like putting metal detectors on the sidewalks of Lower Broadway in Nashville !! I'm sure that would work with the crowds we had this past weekend huh???? I wonder how well that works during Mardi Gras????................
  2. Oh yea, I have done all kinds of research on Hummingbirds and their migration patterns. When I first moved here just for giggles I saw Hummingbird feeders on sale at TSC store here so I bought one and then researched when I should fill it and hang it. Within about a week I had about 4 birds fighting over it so I went and bought another one and it another week I had to go buy another and the first summer I was here I had 6 feeders up and about 40 to 50 birds. I would set in my carport and watch them and there was times I thought I was going to get speared by one chasing another through the carport and I could feel the wind from their wings on my ears. I still enjoy sitting out side watching them but the last couple years I have not had the numbers of birds I did have back 6 or 8 years ago. I am beginning to wonder if the climate changing is having an effect on their migrations? I think the last bumpus year I had of birds was the year before that drought hit the southwest real hard and made it hard on them to find food during their migration. I hope to have more birds this year.................
  3. I thought I remembered posting to it because Ronnie..55 asked me to let him know how I liked it and I said in the post that soon as I got to try I would post something and I posted I liked it a lot. Thanks OS, glad to know I'm not loosing my mind at least not all of it........
  4. I agree 100%..............
  5. I thought I posted to this but I did purchase one at Sumner Gun and Supply about 2 weeks ago and I love it. I like to empty my magazines at least once a month to get the mag springs some rest and let them remain unloaded over night. I know that topic has been covered and it is an option for all anglers to decide to do. I tried one on my double stack Bersa 85 and man I wish I would have bought one of these years ago. They are the cats meow. It works on my single stack mags also but I didn't have as much problem with them as I did the doubles..............
  6. I have not seen any Red foxes here where I live but for past several years i have seen a small gray fox which I think is rare for this area but not sure. I have seen it several times while sitting out side in the evenings while watching the Hummingbirds fight over the feeders. I love whtching those little critters fight and fuss over 1 feeder when i have 8 feeders hanging up around the place. I think I have about 10 or 12 birds so far this year but expecting more as it gets hotter. I have had to fill the feeders twice since beginning of May. The gray fox was kind of skidish when it first showed up so I put a bowl of canned dog food at the corner of my yard next to a fence row and about sunset it will come out and eat some of the food. It's kinda of strange that my wild rabbit population has not seemed to get smaller as I have actually seen them out in the neighbors yard eating clover and the fox makes no attempt to chase them. I find it unique to have so many wild critters while living in town. I do have a very thick fence row of Honey Suckles and Briar bushes and in summer time cannot see neighbors house that is about 100 yards behind mine. The fence row runs about 15 blocks from Gallatin road to the first cross street down the road passed my house.
  7. "So being the self sufficient (cheap) SOB I am." There is a big difference between being a Cheap SOB and a Smart Self controlled Conservative thinker!!!!..............jmho
  8. I have to disagree with a part of this. About a year ago Gallatin had some type of Fair on the Square event and they had no gun signs up everywhere and at each gate that people had to pass through to get on the square. There was also a Gallatin police officer at each gate. There was quit a few people that expressed their views about the gun signs and turned around and left. It was Street Fair they had been having for many years And last year was the first year for the signs and it had the lowest attendance since the fair began. The Street vendors were upset about the loss in revenue and they asked the promoter what he has changed and he said the only thing different was the no gun signs. I know 2 vendors that told him if he was going to do that this year they would not be attending. There was enough of a difference in attendance that the vendors were able to notice something was wrong. It is coming back again in August so waiting to see if the signs get put up again this year.
  9. "It's when we got into the occupation business in Afghanistan and Iraq that people found themselves divided, and that's fair I think." I do agree with you 100% on this. I have never agreed with either one of those at all. I was all for going to Afghanistan and getting Al Quada but was not in favor of occupying the Country. I don't think we had a fight with the Taliban because I think Bin Laden and Al Quada were long gone from that country even before we put a force together to go after them. We should have used our Intelligence Agencies to find out where Bin Laden and his group went and focused on that. Our Intel has never been good regarding Al Quada going back to the Clinton Presidency. Shortly after the bombing of the World Trade center in 1993 our Intel told Clinton where Bin Laden was and Clinton had some missiles fired at him but when the strike site was inspected they learned that they had blown up a vacated Al Quada training center that had been empty at least a month. I don't even think Bin Laden was even in Afganistan when the planes hit the towers but had already vacated all of Al Quada from that country before the attacks knowing we would be coming for him. As far as Iraq. Biggest blunder by our government in recent history. Should have never been there period. All that did was destablize the entire region by removing Saddam Hussein from power. .................JMHO
  10. Back on December 7th 1941 when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor when the Japanese fleet turned and headed back to Japan the question was put to the Japanese Admiral Of we have an advantage so why are we not attacking the American Home Land. The Admiral turned and looked at the man asking the question and he replied , " Because we will be defeated because behind every blade of Grass is an American with a gun." That Japanese Admiral knew of the willingness of the American people to fight for the land they loved. He followed that stament up with another which was, "I fear that all we have done is awakened a Sleeping Giant and nothing more." I often wonder after looking at America and the politics of today just how many Americans still have that burning deep down feeling to fight for America as we once did. I wonder what would happen if an all out war between the Islamic Terrorists already in America broke out just how many of our young people would actually take up a (sword) weapon and actually fight for America. Many seem ready and willing to fight amongs ourselves over political issues and actually attack other Americans but would they be willing to fight for America? Have our children been to brain washed with Policitical Correctness to fight for America? I think these questions stand unanswered and probaly will till something big happens. Back On 9/11/2001 I did see a country come together and be united as 1 and I was proud. Shortly after the attack on the World Trade Centers The Muslims actually tried to build a Mosque on the site of the worse attack on American Soil but the American people stood up and it was defeated. Would the American people still do that today? Or has polictical Correctness made most of them back down? JMHO's
  11. I was and still for present time am looking at Lasik Lazer Surgery. It does not include the high end lenses but just the plain clear lenses but it is done with a lazer rather than a scapel. Yea, everyone has told me the drops are a real pain and being single it is up to me to put them in my own eyes. I have trouble getting Visene in my eyes so not going to be any easier with the eye drops for sure. I have already checked with my insurance company and all I will have to pay is a deductable on the drops and they will cover them. Guess I lucked out there anyway.
  12. I think the real reason the gun laws are the way they are is because the leaders in all the European countries know that if they arm the people they would risk losing power as described by Red333 . I doubt there will be a loosening of any gun regulations in Europe in the near future..........JMHO
  13. I think I could have got them done sooner if I trusted them to use a scalpel (Knife) to do my surgery but the thought of a guy regardless of how good cutting on my eye was not something I wanted to think about so I am saving up to get Lasik surgery. Actually I'm saving up the difference between what Medicare will pay and what they charge to do Lasik Surgery. I had a friend have his done last month and he went under the knife and said it was piece of cake and hardests part for him was the darn drops that needed to be put in his eyes before and after. He had both his done 2 weeks apart and stopped by yesterday and said he wished he had got it done sooner. If I decide to go with the Knife, Medicare will pay it all and if I should need reading glasses after wards they pay for the first pair but everyone that I know that has had it does not need glasses. That is one reason why I have not been to the range in last couple months. Last time I went with my new glasses my O.D. doctor made for me I was still good and on target for the 10 yard range but a little off at 15 yards so decided I would not go back till after I had the surgery.
  14. Thanks Randall53 for covering my bad eyesight. Back when I first came here OS jumped me for yelling because I was using large type but he has not brought it up recently. I have the magnifier on to read most of the posts but can't use it to type. I am hoping to get my cataracs removed in the Fall but right now I am just saving up to be able to get both done. I know a lot of folks that will get 1 done and then wait sometimes a year or more to get the second one done. I'm planning on getting them both done 2 weeks apart and get it behind me.
  15. I have owned 2 of those and would love to own another. I am still trying to figure out why I sold the last one I had other than just plain stupid. The last one I had worked great and shot great and hit what I was aiming at. It would eat about any ammo you fed it and never failed. I love the lemon squeezer grip. It makes you hold the gun more firmly. If you decide your going to keep it I will give you the name of a company that will make you magazines for it. I searched far and wide for some back ups and none to be found but I had 3 backs up made and was not to costly like I was expecting it would be. Should you decide you want to part with it sometime let me know cause I would be interested it getting it........
  16. You got that right. Back when I was a youngster about 14 years old a buddy and I use to shoot trap at a local gun club we could walk to from our homes and back then it was $2.00 to shoot a round plus the shells and my buddy and I worked for neighbors doing odd jobs to get the money to afford to do it. When we could not make any money we would go and watch. He and his sons both shoot still up there and I think it costs about 8 bucks no per round but he does his own reloading so saves on the ammo costs. He and his two sons chip in to buy the reloading supplies and work together on the reloading. Last time I spoke with him he was still using the Mec 600 reloader he bought back in the 1960's.
  17. That is why I never plan on attending any of these type of events. My pockets are very shallow and I don't want to get blown up by some idiot wearing a vest full of ball bearings and something that makes it go pop that will be standing in a crowd waiting to get in and desides it's time to go get his virgins!! Yea I am kinda of a pessimist about some things and thats just one of them.
  18. I found this while researching the Ascend Ampitheater and found it interesting. If you read it carefully you will find that it is located within the Riverfront Park complex which makes it part of the park. That means it cannot be operated by a private operator by law..........JMHO The Ascend Amphitheater was unveiled during a media conference today in Nashville. “Harmonizing the Ascend brand with Nashville’s beautiful new amphitheater is paramount to achieving our strategic intent of being recognized as Nashville’s credit union,” Ascend Federal Credit Union President and CEO Caren Gabriel said. In the heart of the new Riverfront Park development along the Cumberland River, the Ascend Amphitheater is expected to accommodate 6,800 people. It will host various forms of entertainment – from concerts to comedy shows – and it will be the summer home of the Nashville Symphony. The 12-acre park will be open daily on non-event days and will include trails, a dog park and gardens. The amphitheater is slated for completion this summer.
  19. Over the past few days folks have been asking if they can carry here or carry there and it appears that the answer seems to be no in most cases. If you look at many of the places that have been posted with GUN Buster signs most of them have been or are similar to many places that terrorists have struck at one time or another. Any place were crowds gather such as sporting events like to soccer games in Paris to a bar in Florida. Big or small but all gun free. It is beginning to appear that if anyone wants to take the family to what is advertised for families they must do so at their own risk unprotected. At some point I wonder what it will take for these people that are running these events or operating these businesses are going to realize that they are making themselves and their patrons targets for terrorists. Don't these people that are in charge of these places realize that bad guys don't live by the same rules that law abiding people do. How many times does a business have to be robbed or attacked with loss of life before they learn that GUN BUSTER signs welcome violence...........jmho
  20. I was always curious about the duo of Bonnie and Clyde and was curious and to what type of guns they preferred. I new Clyde was fond of the BAR as a long gun and Bonnie was a shot gun person in long guns. I have seen several movie remakes of the story of Bonnie and Clyde but after doing some research was very surprised to find out that there was no Tommy guns used when they killed Bonnie and Clyde like in the movies. It was later stated that Bonnie and Clyde were both actally killed by the same rifle calibre and very possibly the same shooter. Here is a link that tells the story behind the Remington 8 rifle used. http://jamesdjulia.com/item/lot-1170-historic-remington-model-8-rifle-used-to-kill-bonnie-and-clyde-57943/
  21. I went to a Dave and Busters back many years ago that was a free standing one in Hermitage Tennessee. I looked and I don't see it anymore and the only one showing up in Nashville is at Opry Mills. I have been to Opry Mills exactly 3 times since is was built. Once I went there because I was riding with friends and they decided to go to BPS. @nd time was to go see a movie in the IMAX theater cause it was at the time the only one in town and the last time was while on a date and we stopped in at TGI Fridays for dinner. That was all over 10 years ago. I have heard so many things about the crime from the hoodies at the Mills that there is no way I would go unarmed and if I was denied entry I would just leave. You mentioned taking the family out for some fun. You may want to try this place! My son in law and daughter take the grand children there quite often and they say it is great. Use to bowl there and did carry concealed but that was also years ago. Don't know policy now. http://hendersonville.strikeandspare.com/circus-world
  22. Yep, the Mayor of Nashville thinks pretty much like most in her party when it comes to obeying laws. You have to obey her laws but she does not have to obey the rank and file people above her that hand down laws at the state level.............JMHO
  23. Every thing I have found on them is the Home Company has a CCW policy but I have also seen some posts about some of them having metal detectors at the doors and Gun Buster signs up. I guess it is being left up to the managers of each location to make the call on how they handle it. I guess you won't know till you arrive there to see what that manager has done...............JMHO

    N-Range

Yea, it was hit in January 2016. All but 2 of the weapons were recovered within a day or 2 and one of the bad guys was captured. They have not caught anyone involved in the 1st one in Hendersonville last year and not caught any one in this most recent one..............I bet their insurance is going to go through the roof since they seem to not be able to secure their locations properly............jmho
  25. I think the politics section has also be deleted if I am not mistaken...............
