  1. I don't see the benefit to these shot shells at a buck a piece. More rounds from a less powerful round? What is really the up side to this?????.............
  2. I rode a lot back in the 70's and 80's and knock on wood I never had an accident but a close friend of mine did get killed by being stupid. He was doing about 90+ MPG on Franklin Road heading to a wedding and a lady stopped in front of him and he had to lay his bike down and he and the bike went completely under the car and stopped right at the cars transmission. Several witnesses said that he had passed them just seconds before the accident and said he was doing very excessive speeds just before he hit her and the accident scene showed that he laid the bike down at least 50 or more feet before making contact with the car. He died before they could get the car off of him. Shortly after that I sold my bike and never got on another one. It had nothing to do with his death. I just kind of lost interest in bikes and sold it to buy a fishing boat. Keith was always doing crazy stuff and every evening when he left work we could hear him going through the gears and each time we could tell he was WOT. His death was not a surprise to anyone. We all knew it was just a matter of time.
  3. I am going to try and say something and it may not come out exactly right but I will try. All my life from just a little boy I was always taught to listen to a police officer when they told you to do something because they were looking out for my best interest. So all my life I did that. I am now almost 70 years old and I still listen when a police officer gives me an order or directs me to do something. Some time in the past things began to change. I'm not sure who made the first move to change it but somewhere the police attitudes changed and instead of being the ones you trust all of a sudden we can't trust them like we once did. Now with that said! I also realize that the country in general is not the country I grew up in. I look at the Country and I see what some people would consider war zone between the police and the people that they have sworn to protect. With that said I have tried to look at it from a police officers which I know I cannot do completely but I can get so sight into it. As I see it and this is just my opinion the people that the police have sworn and oath to protect in many ways have created the situation we have today and it is not just the younger generation causing this because in many large protests I see many grown ups with signs and raising hell. It is also in many cases is not a racial issue because in most all protests I have seen there are people of all races involved. Now with that said. The police have gone on the defensive rather than the offensive. I'm not exactly sure when that happened either but it has definately gone that way. Now as I see it and this is just my opinion but I think if things don't change it is going to be dangerous for anyone to have an encounter with any LEO that may be having a bad day!. We already know the bad guy will shoot you for the 5 dollars you have in your pocket!!! If we can't call the police for help with out fear of getting shot what are law biding citizens to do?..............................

  5. If she gets the nomination she won't get my vote............JMHO
  6. I betting once they inform her of the murder charge she will become a song bird and begin singing up a storm but that is just a guess. Some ladies ,women, girls can be as tough as many men when it comes to talking or giving up an accomplis in a crime. A lot of it will also depend on what her lawyer tells her to do I would think???...............JMHO
  7. Well, I have to give another company a hat tip also and that is the power company here in Gallatin. When Power goes down they are on it and I mean on it right now. I have been with out power 5 times in 18 years here. The longest was 4 days about 6 years ago and that was when a storm came through town and my neighbor 3 doors down had a tree about 2.5 feet across that was dead go over and down and took power lines down with it. I learned something new with that. The power company is not allowed to come on private property and cut a tree up to get it off their power lines. It is up to the land owner to get the tree cut and moved. The land owner was not getting in any hurry until the insurance company came out and took pictures because he said he was going to make insurance pay for it. Well , he lost out on that because the Insurance company said they would have paid for the tree cutiing if it had fallen on his house but not in his yard. He had to pay to have the tree cut up and that took another 2 days getting someone to come and cut it up because all the tree cutters were still on other jobs. That was when I bought m generator. Up until that point every other time power went down it was back up in 3 hours or less. Funny story about that and then I will shut up. When we lose power the power trucks come and guys walk through all the back yards checking transformers on the poles to see which one was blown. I saw the guy checking the one on my pole between my house and neighbors and I asked him if it was a transformer and he said yea and they were cecking to make sure it was only one and I asked him what caused it to blow and he said fried a squirrel. He said that is the normal reason we lose a transformer. Well about 5 feet off the ground I have 2 squirrel feeders!!!!! I looked at the guy and said I guess I better move those huh and he laughed and said not to bother. If they have not blown your transformer in all the years we have known they are there they won't hurt it now.................LMAO
  8. Smart move on your part my friend. Your going to find that the new unit will be much more energy efficient and save on your power bills in the future. I have lived here for about 18 + years and about 6 years ago just about the time my landlord purchased the place the Central unit that was on this cottage took a major dump and the other owner had to put one in and this place sold to the man that has it now 2 months later so he dodged a bullet. Anyway I saw a large difference in my power bills as they were down as much as 30 to 40%.
  9. Thank you for the compliments Tacops. yea, I have always been one to plan ahead for things within my power to do. I know that things do break down and most times at the worst time possible so I try to be ready. As far as my landlord. He is a nice guy from some foreign country. I think Budapest is where he told me one time but could be wrong. He is a very hard working fair and honest man. He has my A/C back up and running already. It took him about 30 minutes to find the problem and had to replace a small transformer and it's up and running again. He never complains when I call him about an issue but some things I just fix myself if it's something I can do and does not cost much so don't bother him with it. I think he knows I do that even though I have never told him. I think my neighbors in the other duplexes may have mentions that I would fix small things in their places so he does not have to make a trip for something that takes 10 minutes and 5 bucks to fix but they would call him for that. The elderly lady had him come once to change a light bulb in her livingroom even though there was still 3 working. I told her from now on call me to do stuff like that. The landlord bought Central unit filters for all 3 units and gave them to the tennants and when he showed up to give me mine I showed him a pack of 5 new ones I already had in utility room. Once a month I go to the other units and change out the filters so he does not have to come and do it. Just who I am!..........
  10. Well my a/c unit decided to take a dump this morning. I noticed it was getting warm in the house and went and check thermostat and it read 81 degrees and said unit was on but nothing was coming from vents. Called landlord and he said he will be here this evening after work. Folks have asked me why I have a few 110 window units in my windows while I have Central. This is the reason why. I turned on both units in both bedrooms that are side by side and put an ocilating fan in the living room between to 2 bedrooms and it is not real cool in here right now but tolerable till the land lord gets unit back up and working. I do have a good landlord and he fixes things as quick as he can. This is the 2nd time in last 5 years I have had unit issues and the first time it was down 2 days waiting on parts and window units kept it ok till repair was made. At least it is not as hot outside as it has been the last couple days............
  11. I just posted that many police departments do racial profiling. I wonder if she would have be white if that officer would have acted the same way and even asked for the gun after she provided a carry permit. That might be a question that is needed to be asked and answered!
  12. I would hope that was not the issue but I am guessing you are correct. I think many police departments do more racial profiling than they will ever admit to. Then when you compare apples to apples where crime rates take place they do seem to be higher in African American neighborhoods than other ones.................JMHO
  13. I have to agree with Omega on this one for sure. I think police departments need to be held accountable for their mistakes as well as any other business is. They think becuase they are a Government agency they are above the law when actually they should be held just as accountable for their mistakes as any other company or individual would be.............JMHO
  14. Be pretty hard to arrest him if he is in Somalia won't it? I hope they are keeping eyes on him every minute of every day. With what I have read about his 3 year record I have no clue why he was still on the force period unless they have a lot of trouble finding replacements. I sincerely support our men and women in uniform and yea I do undertstand that there are some that should not be in job because they are unfit to serve but that is in all jobs regardless of what it is. There are just some jobs that require special people that Law enforcement is one of them...............JMHO
  15. "The problem is goverment employees can't be ordered to give a statement and that be used against them in court. Garrity rights. He may have given a statement for internal investigation but not criminal investigation. Also I seem to have read something about their laws in relation to giving a statement." No Offense and I hope none taken with this but that is nothing more than telling him it was alright to shoot her and not have to say why he did it unless I am missing something? So he killed her. Does not face any charges and does not have to tell why is inviting him to do it again................JMHO
  16. i agree with this 100% but I can guarantee 1 thing. If my Jeep is on the highway I am driving it and if I do have a passenger I know them very well or they are not in my vehicle.............
  17. Welcome to TGO and Tennessee, Ain't it funny how the North use to brag about winning the Civil War yet the Yankees are moving south in large numbers to get away from the supposed winning side............ Gotta love it when folks finally come to their senses and do the right thing. I just hope when you left NJ you left all of them bad habits up there. I still have family in Middlesex, NJ and I told them to stay up there cause I know them and they will bring their bad habits with them.................
  18. I'm still out on the Castille case but I guess will accept the findings of the case as it was determind. As for the Damond case. If the officer continues to refuse to give a report on what happened I think he should be told he will be removed from the police force and be charged accordingly. This officer has had several complaints and reports filed against him during his 3 years on the force so evidently he has issues that need to be addressed..............JMHO
  19. I know there are some of us that have been stopped by a police officer for some reason or another and have experienced armed civilian / LEO encounters. I for one know of at least 3 or 4 times I have had it happen. I was expecting it because by orders of my doctor I had to have my seat belt system altered to remove the shoulder strap section and just wear the lap belt section. That is done to protect the large amount of mesh I have in my abdomen. She said the Mesh could be torn with just a sudden stop and not hitting anything and she issued a letter I carry in my console to give to a police officer if need be. That is why I have been pulled over every time was because it looks like I am not buckled up. At least that was the reason given and I have no reason to not believe it to be something else. Each time I was stopped the officer remained in his car and I knew he was waiting for back up and I was correct cause within a few minutes backup arrived. After that both officers approached my vehicle one on each side. I already had my windown down and both hands on top of the steering wheel in clear sight. The officer came up to the drivers side and asked me to step out. I told him I would have to unbuckle my seat belt and he told me to wait and he was going to open my door and when he did he looked and saw that I did have my lap belt clicked. At that point he told me to remain in the vehicle and provide him with DL and registration. I did provide what he asked for and I also exlained to him about the letter but he said it was not necessary. He handed my paper back and told me to have a nice rest of the day but did tell me that I would probably go through this type of stop again as they are in Click-it or Ticket Month and officers are looking for folks not wearing their seat belts. They were both Gallatin police Officers. I also did go through pretty much same type of stop in Hendersonville once and Goodlettsville once and all of the officers were very understanding and two of them did read the letter from the doctor written on her letterhead and I never got a ticket. All that was over 3 years ago now and I guess they quit having click-it ticket month cause I have not been stopped since. I will say that every officer I spoke with was very professional and very curtious but every one did not approach my vehicle until they had back up on scene which tells me they are ran my tags and knew there would be a good chance I was armed but none of them ask if I was or asked to see my CCP.
  20. I agree with you 1000% Dave! Teaching needs to begin at home but to many times it goes in one ear and out the other as peer pressure seems to make all the teaching useless. That is one thing I pounded into my boys and they pounded it into their sons and they have never disrespected a police officer yet cause none of them have ever been arrested for anything.........."Knock on Wood again" I even have 1 grandson that is a Duputy Sheriff in Cheatham County. I have been stopped a couple times over tha past 10 or so years for different things and if the officer asks me to search my car I give them permission every time after we have the gun situation cleared up which always goes smooth and by the book. Kids now days think they know everything and are smarter than Mom and Dad. They are taught a lot of that in public schools. It still never hurts to try and teach them...............JMHO
  21. Gosh who knows who hit the bird.................There is a 59 Olds and a 60 Olds, 60 Chevy and 61 Chevy and I think a 57 or 58 ford pick up that I can make out of the lower picture
  22. There was just a discussion on a fishing site I hang out in about the subject of being able to carry a gun while on TVA water ways and according to a new law just passed it states you can legally carry a gun in your boat just as you can your car with or without a CCP. It states that your boat falls under the Castle Doctrine? Some were talking about being unsure about the law and others said it was in fact the law. My post to it was as follows: When confronted by an LEO and having a gun in your boat, car or just in public best thing you can do at that point is to follow every request the LEO makes regardless. Even if you know you are right. The LEO's interpetation of the law may not be the same as yours. Best thing is to follow the LEO's orders and let the judge and legal system sort it out. With times like they are it is better to follow orders than is is to get shot or have more charges added to the ones you may already possibly be facing. That is JMHO but I think it is better to be safe than sorry and live to go home and be with family.
  23. I can say I have never had a rifle or pistol round squib "Knock on Wood" but then I probably don't shoot as many rounds as most here do. What I have seen and had back years ago when I was just a kid growing up. Me and my best friend Dave were both into trap shooting as kids and had a gun club within walking distance of our homes and we would save our money we earned doing odd jobs till we could afford to buy reloadng supplies and we would reload as many 12 gauge rounds as we could and go shoot. We were using an old Texan reloader and if you did not pay close attention you could run out of powder quick. Both Dave and I did that a couple times and we learned quick the dangers of it. Neither of us damaged either of our guns but another shooter almost did with one of his reloads had failed and had it not been for Dave it could have been bad! Dave was on the line when the guy next to him had a squib and Dave hollered real loud "Squib" and that round was stopped till it was checked. Sure enough the Remington Power piston wad was still lodged in the barrel of the shooters gun and he was going to call his next bird and shoot. Maybe it would have just blown the wad out but maybe it could have blown the gun up. The guy was very thankful to Dave for hollering Squib beccause there was 2 other shoots going on and he didn't hear his squib load but Dave did and didn't see the wad clear his barrel. We never had a wad not clear the end of our barrels because we seemed to have just enough powder in out squib loads to push it out but it was smething we wtached for and we became much more careful when reloading after that. Shortly after that we saved our money all Winter and bought a Mec 600 reloader which had safety's that would not allow the bar to slide dumping the powder or shot into the casing if there was not enough powder of shot to be a safe load. We used Federal primers, Peters # 8 Shot and Hercules Red Dot Powder for ur reloading.
  24. It is never a good idea to mess with an old man. He will kill you. Proof is in the report. I just wish he would have got both of them but 1 is better than none.....
  25. I admit I am enjoying seeing all the old vintage firearms but in all honesty I am also enjoying getting to see all of the old cars and trucks also. Love the 59 Corvette!!
