Had to go see my son today and drop my Jeep off with him to be fixed. Had a wiring fire in the steering wheel area and ignition switch area. I asked him about his insurance. He owns one of those SUV's with a camera and he said his went up because he had one. He told his agent that if it gets hit the other person would be responsible wouldn't they and she said not necessarily. He also asked her if he should not get a discount for the auto braking system my vehicle has to stop me from hitting a car in front of me and she said, Oh, Your SUV has that and his rate went up 5% on the spot because she said it has been proven that many people that have that on their vehicles are not as attentive as they use to be because they depend on it to much. He told his agent he will be changing next time it comes up for renewal. The insurance Companies are using all these fancy new gadgets to drive rates up and not down..............

I'm going in to see what my agent has to say before I look at changing. I will stay with them this time while I shop around. She called me Yesterday to see if I was coming in and while she had me on the phone she said she wanted to add that everyones auto insurance is going up because of " ya''ll Ready for this. They are going up because of the rearview cameras located in the back so folks don't have to turn and look behind them when backing up. I said my 1996 Jeep does not have 1 of those and she said no but you might hit a car that does. I'm sure ou talk is not going to change my mine about staying with them if that is the reason my rates are going up plus they won't let me pay by the year but only 6 months is another reason I am looking now. Thanks for the responses.

I have noticed the last 3 times I got my Jeep insurance it has increased as much as $35.00 per 6 month period. I contacted my insurance agent and all she said was is was an across the board increase for everyone and I said 3 times in a row. I have my renters ins, boat ins and Jeep with them. She said I am getting multi policy discount and my Jeep is the only thing increasing. I told her I may start shopping other companies and she ask me to come in next week and she would see what we could come up with. Is anyone else having these issues with the insurance company?

MY main reason for posting this was to show the rediculous prices these drug companies charge for the medication. I do realize that there is alot of testing and work that goes into developing new drugs but a lot of money is also paid to them by Government for the testing and manufacturing of the drugs but the drug companies make billions off of the backs of sick people. I understand fair profits but this is far beyond that...............JMHO -

Here is then newest FDA released drug to treat Hep C and some numbers and costs for the treatment. Also pay attention to the part about the people that had Hep B and what happened to them even if they were cured. http://www.newsmax.com/Health/Health-News/APFN-US-MED-FDA/2017/08/04/id/805799/?ns_mail_uid=40374662&ns_mail_job=1745852_08042017&s=al&dkt_nbr=010124ystcu5 -
I know it's been many years since I have shot clays but back when I was busting a lot of them the last gun I bought to do that with was Charles Daly O/U and it was the best gun I ever busted birds with. I know it is not a popular gun and I have not seen many people talk about them on here but they are a good Clay buster........Just my 2 cents worth!

Chicago buyback gun turns up at scene of police shooting
bersaguy replied to Erik88's topic in General Chat
If you did that in Chicago you would be arrested when you bought the first gun........just saying!!!!! If Chicago did the buy back how did the gun get into the hands of a Ciscerio Cop since that is only a suberb of Chicago and not Chicago. I would say the gun was a plant but that is JMHO. I mean a street gang guy riding on a bicycle aiming at a LEO in a car when shot by a second LEO???? Does that not raise a red flag or two?? -

When I was a kid I got shots for everything every year before school from 1st grade to 4th grade and at that point the doctor told my mother I would not need any more as my immune system was protected for life. I cannot tell you what all the shots were for except for the Polio Shot as that Vacccine was relatively new and my next older brother to me had contracted polio at age 3 and he was crippled for his whole life. The doctors said he would not live to age 18 if he survived the disease at all but they were wrong. He attended school including college, got out of college and went to work for the IRS for 17 years, got married and had a family and died in his sleep from a heart attack at age 43. I am not against medicines as I take them everyday for Diabetes, Blood Pressure, and a baby aspirin for a heart attack I had in 2006 and a stroke I had in 1996 that was caused by blood pressure busting a small blood vessel over my left ear. Only residual effect from that came a little later in life which is a short term memory issue once in a while when I get very tired. I think some of the older vaccines where good, such as Polio, Small Pox, Typhoid, Malaria, and Chicken Pox which evidently came out later cause when I was getting shots that was not included cause I got chicken pox as a child. Itched like hell for about 3 or 4 days. But with that said I just don't trust the drug companies these days to have the best interest of the patient in their thoughts when they shove a new product on the market as much as they are looking at the profits made from them.....jmho on that. I have looked at some of the prices my insurance company pays for the meds I get and even though all of them are the older products that have been on the market many many years I get sticker shock. A bottle containing 10 ml of Levemir for my diabetes which lasts about 35 days is over $800.00 a month and that is a relative older medication. I did ask my doctor about Shingles and she said the number of people that get them is a lot lower than the advertisments on TV state and she has read all the medical research on it and said that they say it is possibly caused by the Chicken Pox virus in their research but they are not 100% sure or even 80% sure but they don't tell you that in their advertisements. Now with that said, I am 69 year old Baby Boomer and I am not planning on rushing out and getting tested for Hep C or going to get a shot for Shingles or that new shot for another form of Pnemonia that is suppose to be going around. I don't fault anyone that does because it is the right of every individual to do what they feel is right for them.................JMHO -

That is why all of my grand children were home schooled and one still is because they are not required to get their shots before beginning school. I watch all these medicine ads on TV and just shake my head with discuss at the lies. Then you get this encyclopedia of possible side effects that can kill you and at the end of the commercial they say and the common side effect is running nose. I had a long talk with my doctor many years ago about all these things advertised on TV and she said yea I know. She said they make her mad because the Feds have given the drug companies permission to practice medicine without a license. She said that she has lost some patients because they will come in and ask her to write them a perscription for some trash they have seen on TV and when she won't do it they get mad and leave. Last time I went for my 6 month check up I asked he how many blood tests she had requested the baby boomers to get to check for HepC and she said do you want to be the first and we both laughed. She tells her patients that want flu shots to go to Walgreens and get them cause she is out of the shots but she never orders any to begin with. She says if they sell it on TV she does not offer it at he practice. She said that the one that really makes her mad is the Optivo commercial telling folks they will live longer than on Chemo and then the list of side effects begin and it says that the medication may damage other good organs putting you at risk of death. She said Hell if you have cancer your already at enough risk without adding more. There are two new ones out promising the same thing and they all have the same side effects. That is why I drive 140 miles round trip to continue keeping her as my doctor. She was my doctor 2 years before I moved here and I won't be changing any time soon. -
Evidently Bonnie and Clyde never saw that picture huh??

Evidently this is old news that is just now being released because it says in one news report the Sheriff ask the TBI to investigate the case back on November 16, 2016 and I guess it finally got released to the press when the lawsuits were filed. Long time to be able to keep that out of the news...........JMHO http://wkrn.com/2017/07/28/ex-inmate-files-lawsuit-against-cheatham-county-sheriffs-department/ -
I do think she deserves some type of compensation for all she was put through but it should be a fair one and not an over the top one. I do think all her record and mug shots and anything pertaining to it should all go away completely all gone> Then I think she should be given a fair money compensation for mental anguish for illegally being arrested and detained. It should be offered and not needed to be gotten through a lawsuit................They also need to improve their way of doing back ground checks and other types of checks since this has been an issue with them getting it wrong in the past...........JMHO
-
Probably not but then the news never gives you the truth but write what they want and no one really finds out the facts till the trial. They threw the book at him but yet he is under house arrest for agun and shooting and not in jail. Will probably even be turned loose when it gets in court unless the guy has been in trouble before.............JMHO

Believe me Mac I can understand completely your stance on this and I also have given it a ton of thought and it is hard for me to see trusting any Judge, jury or Prosecutor to produce all of their evidence to the Defense so a fair trial can be held. Now I will let my problem known what scares the hell out of me about life in prison without the possibility of parole. Back for those of you folks that remember a Governor named Ray Blanton. I don't know how many people knew his plans for the night before he left office but he planned on signing pardons and paroles for people in prison. On the list was about 12 or more murders and two in particular where professional hit men partners that killed a doctors wife for him while he was out of country and when he learned it was done the doctor got scare and feared them that he hired so he ratted them out if he could avoid prosecution. He set them up to be caught. Because the authorities wanted these 2 killers off the streets they made the deal. Blanton was going to Pardon these 2 guys along with several other really bad guys that had bought their way out! I learned about this years later while talking with a retired investigator that was one of the ones that took Blanton down. It is things like this that make me not trust putting men like this in prison for life instead of putting them on death row. President Obama pardoned a bunch of people just before he left office. I don't know what crimes they had committed but the fact is it was done. For those of you that don't know who Ray blanton was you can read about him in the link below. That is what scares the hell out of me is some crazy politician turning a bunch of these crazy people back out of prison. They cannot pardon anyone on death row!!! http://themoderatevoice.com/tennessee-governor-blanton-the-most-mischievous-of-mischief-makers/ -

Do I believe that most police officers are good Cops? Yes! Do I believe that there are bad cops? Yes!!! now with that said there is something that folks probably don't think about when they say that cops circle the wagons around the brothers in Blue. Yes they do! But has anyone ever wondered why they do that? Has anyone ever wondered why there are very few whistle blowers in the police forces across this country? If you blow the whistle on a fellow officer for an infraction but he is allowed to remain on the force and happens to have many friends and something comes down and you, the whistle blower needs back up help in a dangerous even life threatening situation how much help can you expect and how fast will that help arrive? I think that is why even good cops circle the wagons but that is JMHO and I wonder just how many times that has happened when an officer needed help that never showed or showed to late. I think circling the wagons might mean self preservation for many officers even when they don't agree with it!!!! . Do I agree with it NO!! but I understand it to a point..............JMHO -

I am a firm beliver that if you take a life and it is proven beyond all doubts that you should be put to death but only after all forensic tests have not clear you. This idea of givinga person all these appeals and letting them live on death row for 10 + years needs to be removed. Richard Speck murdered 6 student nurses in Chicago back in the 60's and their was zero doubt he did it yet he had some many appeals that he died of old age on death row awaiting execution. Zero justice was given to those 6 young girls he violently slaughtered. Those are things to need to be stopped and sentences need to be carried out. Those brothers that killed Frankie Jordan should still be in prison as they all had police records for many crimes and prior convictions!!!! I don't care how much the shooter said he is sorry will not bring Frankie back or give his family any comfort. -

I have never thought that all crimes should fall under the same level of punishment but then many times I also see that by being easy on some that break the law causes them to only get out and in turn break the law again and again. I worked in corrections for a few years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and was stationed at the Joliet Prison Facility which was where at the time was a the worst of the worst and I think I saw the worst of the worst many times come out of the inmates. We experienced 3 all out riots while I was working there and there was no way of being nice to that class of inmates regardless of how much you reached out to listen and work with them...................JMHO -

This is an article I found about Frankie Jordans murder but didn't know his killers had already been turned loose even though they were sentenced to life +10 years!!!! http://www.wsmv.com/story/16677454/brothers-convicted-of-murdering-deputy-set-free-family-keeps-fighting I think they should still be in prison which such a murder as bad as this was. Frankie was struck 19 times in the back by buckshot. There are also many descrepences in the news article about who did the actual shooting. -

I guess most folks here are not familiar with Cheatham County like I am since I lived down there when we moved he when I was 17. Cheatham County is one of those "Good Ole Boys" counties. The sheriff back when I first moved here had been the Sheriff about 30 years and everyone called him by his first name which was Les. the folks in Cheatham county knew him well and all knew when he said something he ment business but they also said he was very fair to all a well. (example) State Stove water heater company located in Ashland City and about 95% of the people employed there lived in Cheatham County. If Les had a complaint filed against an employee there he would go to the plant and tell the guard at the front gate to tell So-N-So he needs to come by the office on his way home from work today!!!! If the guy showed up Les would have a talk with the guy and tell him to quit beating his wife or quit doing what he was called for and send them on. If teh guy did not show up, the next day Les would go to the plant, walk inside, walk up to the guy he was looking for , cuff him and drag him out of the plant. I'm not sure what happened to the guy but you can bet next time Les told him to stop by he did. Les finally retired and another sheriff was elected and he was a first name sheriff also named Dorris. He didn't change much from the way Les ran the county Sheriffs office. Still a "Good ole Boys" club of deputies. That was until one of his duties was murdered during a burglary and was killed by being shot in the back by a shotgun using oobuck and was shot three time cause they found 3 empty casings on the ground by a lookout watching for the police. At that point the investigation was out of the Sheriffs control and was being handled at State and Federal levels. I knew the deputy that was killed personally and he was a really nice young man. I honestly thought all the good ole boys club was gone when that sheriff passed away and an ex state Trooper was elected to the Sheriff but that was short lived. Next election another good ole boy was elected and is still there at least till we see where this mess goes they have now. Just thought I would give some back ground into that counties law enforcement policies!!............................. -
I would be willing to bet peejmans skin is a lot thicker than your is but I am not going to lower myself to your level any further than I already have.....

The greater Chicago school system for 1. I have friends up there that had told me about it several times. I grew up up there till age 17 and I was taught all of it in US history but my friends have grandchildren that don't have any US History classes offer in Junior high and High Schools.

My buddy and I when growing up use to hunt Pheasant and Quail in southern Illinois but last time I spoke with him he said he and his son still hunt them but their numbers are way down in both species so the creel limit on both species has been cut way down almost making it not worth hunting quail but they still hunt Pheasants.
