My first progressive was a lee loadmaster, and like you said about the other lee it was VERY "janky". I had 3 primers go off in that press in a couple month period of time. After the third one I sold the thing on craigslist for parts. I went and bought the hornady LNL AP, and while it has it's issues, it is night and day better than the lee with no primer detonations in the 4 yrs I have had it. No it isn't a Dillon, but I think it is a decent step in between the Dillon and the lee

I agree on a beginner not jumping in with a progressive, they can be a PIA sometimes, well the hornady LNL AP is, I haven't use a dillon YET, so I can't comment on that one. Also titegroup is one powder that you can easily overcharge pistol loads with.

one piece of advice when/if you get going. With most pistol calibers you can drop a double charge or more without it overflowing the case. This is why it is important to visually check each powder drop. Once you get into it, you can see when the powder charge isn't right. It is a good idea to put an LED strip light on the underside of the press so it shines down in the cases for this reason. There are electronic gizmos out there (powder cop) to warn you of this if needed. MOST rifle calibers this isn't so much of a concern as they are almost always close to full capacity anyway, 300 blackout is one that can be overcharged off the top of my head.

I agree, I am 52 6' 190# in great shape, eat well, never get sick, sleep well etc etc. I got covid a month ago and it hit me like a mac truck for 3 days in particular, and about 7 where I couldn't do squat, and really another 7 after that before I felt somewhat "normal" again. For me the worst part was the 3 days of a temp over 102, that SUCKED! BTW R.I.P JT

Thermal/ night vision availability in Knoxville area?
tmauto769 replied to ygbsm's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Knoxville Tactical sells NV as well -
I have 3 of them used in a 43x but not nearly as many rounds as some of these guys (maybe 200?) no issues yet. I did change out to their mag release as well.

Getting in to reloading. A couple of questions.
tmauto769 replied to IggyBcool's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
The Hornady manual tends to be a little on the safe side of things. I usually check the Hodgdon website and cross reference the two. You can find load data there for Hodgdon, IMR, Accurate, Ramshot and Winchester powders now as they under one roof, Plus it's free. I have a couple of other books that I will occasionally take a peek at if I can't find what I am looking for but that doesn't happen very often -
P80 does some amazing things for the Gen3 glocks as well. For me it takes them from unbearable to one of my favorites.

well Bye!!!!!

Well they are trying, but you got the older hard headed get off my lawn types, that are fighting that every step of the way. ie.. the pellissippi extension. But I get the eminent domain thing that will effect some, but the ones I see on the news bitching about it are not the ones dealing with that.

I heard that THP switched over to the G45 recently.

steel, at first I thought yours was steel, but upon looking closer I see the CF barrel, now.

I have one in 6.5cm and one in 6.5prc, the cm has been great so far, I have yet to shoot the prc, brass and/or factory ammo is hard to find, and if you do find it, it is ridiculously expensive. I have taken the cm out to 800 so far, my first time shooting that far it took 3 shots to get on an 8" plate with it. I paid $1700 each for mine

I saw this at burger king the other day, I thought great they are now hiring rent a drunks.
-
And for some reason, I thought the 600 rds was $600 and thought you were asking if it was worth it. so disregard that post.
-
Smokey Mountain Guns and Ammo has the base gun listed at $450 here: Canik @ SMGA While I don't have any experience with a canik, with all that he has done to it and with 2 extra mags, and the RDS it doesn't seem like a bad deal to me. Actually if it was close to me I would buy it so I could see what the caniks are all about.

Ha, I was talking to a friend the other day and said to him, "I wonder why nobody has necked down a 10mm to a 9mm yet, since the .357 sig is a necked down .40" oh well, learn something new every day.

BATF notice of proposed rule

So I am confused, (which is what I think is what they want with this). On page 21 it says "However, nothing in this rule would restrict persons not otherwise prohibited from possessing firearms from making their own firearms at home without markings solely for personal use (not for sale or distribution) in accordance with Federal, State, and local law." then on page 44 it says this "For PMFs acquired by licensees before the effective date of the rule, licensees would be required to mark or cause them to be marked by another licensee either within 60 days from that date, or before the date of final disposition (including to a personal collection), whichever is sooner." Doesn't one contradict the other? -
ah!! no I am using a desktop but it was at the bottom as well, thanks for that.

Can somebody tell me where to go to change this site back off of dark mode? I have looked through my profile settings and can't find it. Unless it is in black text (as one of the for sale posts were, the price was anyway) and I just can't see it lol.

If you ever go to the Norris range, I have a SRO, an RMR, and a 507k you are welcome to try all of them out to see if its your thing or not. Just send me a message if you are interested
-
Also I would like to respond to this comment "An old saying that I truly believe in: Never trust your life to anything that requires a battery. " There are people in far nastier places than most of us will ever be in trusting lots of things requiring batteries. Also I can still see my sights through the RMR so I don't get it? Am I missing something?

go to buds and fondle a shadow systems MR920 it has IMO the best optics mounting system there is and it is an excellent shooting gun. It is similarly priced to the FN509

I have the red dot/pistol bug as well, I ended with a Trijicon SRO on a FNX-45 tactical, and a RMR on a shadow systems MR920, me personally I like the SRO better for the little bit bigger window, but the RMR is excellent as well. For me they are so much faster getting back on target vs irons.
