  1. Anyone given thought to creating a rimfire section here on TGO? Lots of folks shoot rimfire I think they/we would enjoy having a section dedicated solely to rimfire. Not sure if this is the correct place to post. If not, move it or let me know.
  2. This. I really like the look of their micro red dot and I would be all over one with this kind of battery life if it comes in at a similar price point.
  3. Not the best picture, but this is my MK12'ish SPR build. Armalite Lower RR 2-Stage Match Trigger Compass Lake Engineering SPR Upper 18 inch Douglas Match Stainless Barrel Ops Inc Brake Yankee Hill Free Float Rail Magpul ACS Stock Harris Bipod Vortex PST 2.5-10x32 I plan to replace the handguard with a PRI Gen III tube and probably go back to an A2 stock. I am also waiting on my Form 4 to come back for an Ops Inc Model 12 Suppressor and then she should be pretty much complete. 4. Another pretty good review with lots of shooting was posted. After seeing this most recent video and after getting a couple contradictory emails from Tac-Con regarding when my order would shipped, I went ahead and cancelled. When the promotions and videos for this trigger were released in late 2013, I believed that because of the mechanical reset on the trigger, applying constant pressure on the trigger would result in multiple rounds down range, simulating or mimicking full auto fire. That does not appear to be the case and the trigger seems to function much like any other.   I chose to cancel for a number of reasons. First, I have received multiple emails from Tac-Con saying my trigger would ship by a certain date. None of these dates have been met. Second, many reviewers have stated that they are able to generate a higher rate of fire with a quality trigger from Geissele and the like. Third and even more concerning is the fact that I have seen multiple reviews complaining of multiple failures to fire. I have yet to see a non-industry reviewer achieve a high rate of fire while keeping on target. Finally, a number of these triggers are coming up for sale on forum classifieds for less then the price I was locked into.    Had it not been for the issues with failures to fire, I would have stuck with it and given this trigger a try, but that was really the deal breaker for me. Perhaps they will get that issue sorted out in the future. For now, I'm purchasing a Geissele for about $200 less.    EDIT: I will note that within ten minutes of canceling, I received an email confirming the cancellation and my refund and apologizing for the delays.      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAvebGC33j4
  5. Pretty impressive specs. Not the nicest looking optic but I suppose form follows function.
  6. 8 in West Knoxville.
  7. I got confirmation this morning as well. Kind of wish I had ordered more.
  8. My experience has been hit or miss. For lowers, firearms, complete uppers, etc., I assume it will show up in 3-4 weeks. I ordered a blemished upper and upper parts kit from them on Feb. 7th and it is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow which works out to three (3) business days. That is by far the fastest I have ever received anything. Like a lot of folks, I love PSA prices and products, but I wouldn't order from them if I needed something quick.
  9. I have the 2.5-10x32 on an SPR build. http://www.opticsplanet.com/vortex-viper-pst-2-5-10x32-ffp-riflescope.html?gclid=CM71oc6Rw7wCFYNQ7AodiCgAGg&ef_id=UN4KYgAARgEnexXK:20140211033207:s   I am really impressed with the scope. Very clear glass, good eye relief, solid turrets.
  10. http://swfa.com/SWFA-SS-10x42-Tactical-Riflescope-P53712.aspx I have been very impressed with the SWFA Super Sniper 10x. It is built like a tank and an excellent value at $300. You can google some reviews but they are very well thought of as a great budget scope in the long range community. The SWFA's have a lot of internal adjustment so you may be able to get buy without a 20MOA rail at least for shooting out to 600 yards, I'm not sure if it will get you to 1000 without a rail. You can get better quality glass by going with a fixed scope as opposed to a variable. The SWFA has a 30mm tube so you would need new rings but you could get a quality set and still be out under $400.    Pros: You mentioned you are looking for a scope with "quality glass" and "good dependability." I suspect you cannot do better in those two areas than the SWFA.   Cons: Obviously, this is a fixed power scope which is only a con if you need something variable which really depends on the purpose of the rifle. Your Burris mount with 1" rings will not work with this 30mm tube.    One final thing to consider. You mentioned you have a Burris QD Mount. If it is something like the PEPR, you need to verify that it has enough height for the scope you purchase, especially if you are running this on something like an AR10 platform. Some optics with larger diameters will not have enough room to fit over the handguard in a PEPR mount.    EDIT: a quick google image search shows a number of AR15 and AR10 style rifles with the SWFA SS Scope in PEPR mounts with plenty of clearance.    http://i.imgur.com/G7oYlUp.jpg
  11. A couple more videos have been posted the past couple of days by folks with the trigger.    https://www.dropbox.com/s/57txgokdz9pgp4i/IMG_1279.MOV   http://www.use.com/2014_02_06_1_f2320874d4aa5e178bd1   And here is a Geissele promo video with their SD3G trigger:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eauD4tvk4MY#t=76   And finally, the original Tac-con promo video:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQtCTUq4Y_I   It certainly looks like the Tac-Con and Geissele can be run to have similar rates of fire, neither of which seems to be on par with an actual auto.
  12. Quick update for anyone else that may have preordered. I have received some contradictory information from Tac-Con regarding shipping of my pre-order.   When I preordered on Dec. 1, 2013, the Tac-Con website listed shipping to begin late 2013. I got an email on Jan 29, 2014 saying my Order was ready to be shipped. My credit charged was charged on Jan 31. I then got another email contradicting the first email and stating that I would be notified a couple of weeks prior to my order shipping. My original "Invoice No" was 829. The "Order No" referenced the emails from a week ago was 785. I sent out am email this morning regarding the inconsistent shipping times from the two emails and got an auto reply stating:    "We appreciate your patience. Due to the demand, we are manufacturing the triggers as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality. We are sending the trigger orders out in order number sequence. Note: When an order is placed, your credit/debit card company authorizes the dollar amount and then puts it into a pending status. After a few days, the pending status is removed from your banking view, however the funds are not charged. Just prior to your product shipping, you will receive an email to log into your Tac-Con account and complete payment." This email referenced in the last line is the email I received Jan. 29.    A couple posters on ARF.com with significantly higher order numbers then I have received their triggers so the part about "Sending the trigger orders out in order number sequence" appears to be false. Additionally, the part about the order shipping when payment is processed appears to be false.    I have mixed feelings about the functionality of the trigger. I have seen a couple favorable reviews and some unfavorable.  I guess I would say I am still skeptically optimistic about the trigger itself. That said, if I don't hear back from Tac-Con or get a tracking number within the next week or so, I will probably cancel.
  13. Those "extreme" grips are pretty sexy. I ran about 200 rounds through the new Witness Match today and it performed flawlessly, very smooth, very accurate. I am very impressed.
  14. Are you talking about a front or rear iron sight or an optic like a red dot?
  15. I work more then full time, as I'm sure a lot of us do. I can't spend my mornings at Wal-Mart and Academy Sports waiting on ammo to be released. My options for getting ammo are essentially (1) buy online or (2) buy from scalpers/resellers.  I buy all my ammo online. I use various websites to find reasonable priced ammo.   I agree that the ammo supply would catch up a lot faster people who work full time were did not allowed any means to obtain ammo. I don't see that as being a good thing.
  16. I'm curious as to why you think these apps/sites should be shut down?
  17. KeyMod rails on AR's appear to the the hot new rails, with offerings from Noveske, Midwest, Vltor and others. The KeyMod rails work the same way as a lot of shelving and scaffolding. One end of the “keyhole” is bigger, while the other end is smaller. You put your accessory or rail into the larger part of the keyhole and slide it down to the smaller end. The "technology" has been around for ages. Basically, they look just like the shelves at home depot or wal-mart, but as far as use in the firearm industry, it appears that the design was part of a joint project between Vltor and Noveske. I am not a fan of quad rails. I just don't need that much rail space. I do however really like the look of the newer style light weight rails in general, such as the Samson Evolution, Midwest Gen II SS and Troy Alpha and VTAC rails, but I really dislike the look of the keymod rails. I can't get over the fact that the rails look just like she shelves I have in my garage. What do you guys (and gals) think? Are the KeyMod rails going to be the standard going forward or just a fad that will pass? KeyMod Rail Shelving at your local Wal-Mart
  18. Midway has good information on all the rails. The Midwest is lighter and significantly cheaper then the Noveske, but I understand some people really like Noveske.    Midwest:  http://www.midwayusa.com/product/2344177963/midwest-industries-gen-2-ss-series-free-float-modular-rail-handguard-ar-15-aluminum Noveske: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/2922114288/noveske-nsr-keymod-customizable-free-float-handguard-ar-15-aluminum-black Troy: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/3058222457/troy-industries-alpha-battle-rail-modular-free-float-handguard-ar-15?cm_vc=ProductFinding
  19. To answer your first question, financially speaking, you are probably better off selling the rifle and than parting it out.    Second, and a couple folks have mentioned this, running a suppressor will make your rifle very front heavy. You may want to keep UBR to balance out the weight or at least try it out before you unload it. My advice would be to just sell the upper and keep the lower for the new rifle.    With respect to rails, a lot of companies are making very nice lightweight rails, Troy's alpha series (I prefer the VTAC version) and Midwest's Gen II SS are both very good looking light rails that are pretty popular.
  20.   This.
  21. I got 3 1/4 where I'm at in Knoxville.
  22. Everything I read about these guns was positive. I am, unfortunately, still waiting for my to ship from Budsgunshop. It was placed way back on the fifteenth.
  23. You can find 22 ammo online if you know where to look and look often. I see it for 5cents a round on a somewhat regular basis. Unfortunately that doesn't count shipping and many sellers are still limiting the quantity to make shipping as much as the ammo. I found 8c a round with free ship to store at gander mountain while typing this post: http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=CCI-Maxi-Mag-22-LR-Ammo-Troy-Landry-Edition-36-grain-CPHP&source=linkconn&lct=s&i=701915 . It will sell out quickly, but 8cents is too bad in today's market. Another 5 bucks to ship it to your house.    It is frustrating to see hear of the same people standing in line everyday and trying to resell. I always make sure to flag overpriced ammo on armslist. Prices do seem to be coming down, albiet slowly. I suspect some of these guys are going to get stuck with more ammo then they will ever shoot.
  24. I like brewing Stout's too. Always lots of flavor and they are good to experiment with.
