I've had Comcast forever now. Had 50Mbps and switched to 105Mbps when it first came out. They just recently dropped their prices, so now I pay for 105 what 50Mbps users used to pay. Internet bill went from $207 down to about $122 now for what basically amounts to 120Mbps up and 22Mbps down when I speed test it. My home network is heavy. We have 6 laptops, 3 desktops, 3 iPhones that switch to the home network for data, a Roku and a PS3 on the net, so we needed the bandwidth. We stream movies on the Roku in HD, all the while my wife will be doing work on her laptops streaming HD news (video) and a lot of time I'm streaming radio while browsing forums and up/downloading things. It doesn't hiccup at all. I've not had any problems out of the higher speeds. They did have to run new line in the walls as the old stuff couldn't do these speeds.

Has anyone ordered from Dillon lately?
JohnC replied to Randall53's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
One of my cousins just got himself a Dillon RL 550B, but not sure when and were he ordered it from. I'll ask him later to see how long it took. -
Best way to sell Mil surplus collection

Post some good pictures of them here! -
Why does anyone think folks are going to stop panic buying when they know Obama and the anti-2A's are still making threats and confirming they're going to get their gun control agenda done! Jay Carney says white house gun control will pass round 2: http://gunssavelives.net/blog/gun-laws/video-white-house-gun-control-will-pass-round-2-is-coming/ Harry Reid voted "NO" on S.649 to be able to bring the bill back up later: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/64283-here-is-why-harry-reid-voted-no-on-s649/ Reid: Gun Control is on Pause" http://www.politico.com/multimedia/video/2013/04/harry-reid-pause-and-freeze-on-gun-control.html Reid introduces background checks for ammo & powder: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/04/foghorn/breaking-reid-introduces-bill-for-background-checks-for-ammunition/?fb_source=pubv1 So I don't see the panic buying and hoarding of ammo and reloading components subsiding anytime soon because the threats on 2A rights keep coming from our Reps in Washington.

Are these going to be worth anything since they're discontinued, or should I just go ahead and shoot it? Last online prices I could find put them selling new close to $800. Do you happen to know the current value on a NIB Hawken 50cal like this one? I wouldn't want to shoot it if it is collectable now. I got a box with powder, caps, lead balls, powder horn, powder measure, etc., with it, so if it isn't I'll go break it in soon! :hyper:

There is no K in front of the serial number. I'm about 100% sure it was not a kit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I recently picked up a TC Hawken 50cal muzzle loader that has never been shot sitting in the original box unassembled. Past owner thinks he might have bought it about 10-15 years ago. I decided to look up some info on it and noticed the online shops list it as discontinued. Anyone know how to date this thing by the serial number or at least know the last year they made these? It is the model 5024 that takes caps. Thanks. http://www.tcarms.com/firearms/mzTraditional.php http://www.midwayusa.com/product/230832/thompson-center-hawken-black-powder-rifle-50-caliber-percussion-wood-stock-1-in-48-twist-28-octagon-barrel-blue Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh... And I did not see a single box of FNH 5.7x28mm. :(

Just got back from the gun show in Hendersonville. Most of the ammo prices haven't come down yet. I did notice folks weren't buying much of it though.

There is no shortage of fired brass for sale: http://www.govliquidation.com/auction/search?cmd=results&words=brass I imagine you're not seeing the pulled stuff because more ammo is being used now than ever. -

Herd mentality? With all the threats if gun and mag bans, talks of bans on internet sales of guns and ammo, etc? Folks were not being a herd of cows, they were trying to prepare for the possibility of a political disaster that would restrict and revoke their second amendment rights. If it had all passed, you would not be able to buy a new semi-auto AR or hi-cap mag ever again.
-
Can't confirm, but a local gun shop told me back when I tried to order 308 pmags that Magpul was backordered 2 years. Sure, shops will be getting shipments of past orders from before the SHTF, but what is ordered today won't be seen for a long while. Trust me, I ordered mags back in Dec and they still have not shipped. My Mega Maten upper and lower was ordered Dec 2nd and it still has not shipped. Just saying, don't expect any prices to drop and supply to magically fill the shelves very soon, folks.
-
And that's precisely why we won't see things in stock and prices come down for a good while. Every time something comes in, soon as folks see it they're going to stock up. :2cents:
-
It will be a while yet before we see equilibrium in the ammo department. :2cents:

When I get lame fried chicken from a restaurant, I ask them for fresh whipped butter and tabasco. Viola, hawt yardbird!

Here is why Harry Reid voted "No" on S.649
JohnC replied to JohnC's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This is from that WP link in the first post: -
So I just did some investigating on who voted for and against S.649. It turns out, Sen. Harry Reid voted against S.649. I couldn't figure out why. So I looked and even if every Democrat voted yes, they would have still been short 1 vote from passing the bill, which means they'd needed 1 Republican to flip to their side. So according to what I read, by Sen. Harry Reid voting No (against) the bill allows him to bring S.649 back up later! then I went to his Facebook page and it conformed exactly what I had found out! See post https://www.facebook.com/SenatorReid They are very slick folks. Just know this, the battle is not over. It will be back soon!

So bottom line... If this bill passes, what do we gain in knife rights? -
NY state has started to take firearms.
JohnC replied to RED333's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
So let's say I'm an 8th grade educated father with a child who has the flu. You ask me "do you have any weapons in your home?" I answer yes. Do you hand me a brochure on gun safety, or verbally educate me? Who else sees the answer, TNCare? Is it recorded in the medical file? What if you suspect the father or child of being mentally unstable or ill, what is your duty or responsibility with this information? Do you turn it over to mental health services, or? I'm just trying to get an honest answer here on how this all plays out. Call us paranoid if you want, but NY and CA are already confiscating guns. Edit: I guess I can verify some of this after you answer these questions with my sister who works in Mental Health here in TN. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/04/09/a-form-of-gun-confiscation-has-reportedly-begun-in-new-york-state-heres-the-justification-being-used/ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/19/california-gun-confiscation_n_2717809.html -

Again, what exactly does answering a question about if someone has guns in their home do to help you provide better healthcare for that person? Please explain in detail. I could understand maybe if you were dealing in mental health, but not as, for example, a pediatrician dealing strictly with non-mental health issues.
