I cannot control myself and I have to admit it. I was by a shop in Clarksville today and they had a CZ452 in a synthetic stock with a nice Simmons 4.5-14x40 ATV scope, sling, case, extra mag....cheap. Had to have it. Man these things shoot good. This is my third, so I have a 452 in 22 Mag, and another 452 American in wood. Addiction is such a terrible problem. Help!

Hey, there is a nice Charles Daly Zastava in 7.62x39 listed right now on Gunbroker http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=120903175

I had a SS Taurus Model 44 (that is the name of it)which is the somewhat twin of the SW 629. Differences are the SW does not have the full lug barrel, at the the standard model doesn't, the SW is not ported and lastly, the SW has a flat main spring while the Taurus uses a coil main spring. Overall I liked it. It seemed a fraction looser than my Smiths but it shot fairly well and if I run across another at a fair price. They do have a lifetime warranty though I have never had to use a Taurus warranty, some say good, some say so-so.

Gunbroker has several listed for sale in the 550 range. Just search bolt actions for 7.62x39

what is the best 30-06 bullet to reload?
glockster157 replied to my82cam's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
There are many fine bullets on the market from the Nosler Solid Base to one of the all time great(but pricey) Nosler Partition bullet, the Nosler Ballistic Tips are good but very destructive. In the generally good category is the Remington PSP which is kinda a long time standard plus they have a Bronze point now. Hornady has the standard SP but they recently introduced the Amax and SST's but I have no experience with them. Sierra is a gold standard in bullets with the Game King line and the Pro Hunter. Of course for premium bullets there is also Swift's A frame, Barnes line and on and on. Personally I like Noslers Solid Base bullets, Remingtons PSP's for general shooting. If I were to throw cost to the wind I would probably go with the Nosler partition more but I shoot a lot more than I hunt. Point of this is there all good. Need to find what your 30-06 likes and shoot that. -
Phil Valentine debate on gun ownership?
glockster157 replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Phil is completely Pro Gun and was, he may still be, part of the TN militia. I did not here this exact debate but i have heard enough of them to know that Phil has all the logical angles down that a anti-gun person should not want to take him on. In this case it sounds like they learned the hard way. -
New Speaker of the House: Rep. Kent Williams
glockster157 replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Somebody in his district needs to start a recall procedure, that would be fun and interesting for sure. Where is Elizabethton or wherever anyways? Wonder what it woould take to buy him back if we can't get rid of him? You know what Winston Churchill said about people like him, "We have established what you are, we need to negotiate price!" -
Jeff Walle at Guns and Leather in Greenbrier is the only one I know about with a good rep.

There may be some reloading supplies at the R&K show in Smyrna this weekend. David and Mark are usually priced decently if they are there. The Reloaders Bench in Mt Juliet has a lot of stuff, pricing is middle of the road to the higher end. If you want to buy in bulk Mid South Shooter supply in Clarksville off exit 11 is a good place. We may need to put together a bulk order,,,anybody want to jump in on that? You in Spring Hill there is Steves Shooting supply down on hwy 46 toward Columbia, I have no idea about pricing. You may want to start saving WW and other lead as bullet molds may be in your future with a Dillon. I love real Keith bullets, hard to buy as good as I can cast.

In the words of Tommy Lee Jones "Get yourself a Glock and lose that nickel-plated sissy pistol", of course I am going to keep the Glock but I also just picked up a SW 3913 and it is a shooter. Anyways, I don't know what they are charging you but I would rather have a older model 19 than a brand new Taurus....but that is just me. I have never had a Glock let me down so I will stick with what I know works and I have had a bunch of them to boot.

Since all four mags were doing this and you had not had this problem before, what about ammo? Were you using range ammo that may have been a little on the mild sde? Did it do this with different ammo?

Picked up a 358 Win. - Anybody here shoot the 358?
glockster157 replied to KahrMan's topic in Long Guns
I am not familiar with the older ones. Thought just occured to me though. A 358 winchester is based on teh 308, aka 7.62x51. That means it has a 51mm long case. The 8x57 has of course a 57 mm Case length. You need to see if it will still chamber a Mauser length cartridge. 257 Roberts, 7mm Mauser, 8 mm Mauser, ....even a 6mm Remington should do just to check chamber length. If any of those will allow the bolt to close it has not been rechambered at all regardless of bore diameter. Of course do not fire the weapon with anything until caliber is determined. -

It has been a while since I messed with them. Look on the front ring. I agree with the other poster. Unless it was bored and rechambered, which is possible but unlikely, it is probably still in 8mm Mauser. It sure looks like a VZ24 Mauser. I don't know the whole history but I believe one of the reasons Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia was to get his hands on the BRNO Mauser works. It has evolved into the CZ550 of today....well, that what I have been told. I know the 550 is also a very good action. -

Those are great actions, you could build a custom rifle on it. Is it a VZ24? -
Was at the Nashville show today and ran across something I have been looking for forever. Guy had a LNIB SW 3913, one of the older ones, with all the papers, extra mag w/pinky ext., included original grip plus Hogues. I am not going to tell you what I gave for it but there was receipt in the box from 1997 and it was a lot less than that. Needless to say I was tickled to death as I think these 3913's are great carry guns. And to just put the icing on the cake, I ran into a guy with a glock 30, 2mags in the box, adjustable sights, little holster wear and once again, got it for a very good price. My cup runneth over as they say. :)

Have a 642, best pocket revolver/pistol made IMHO

Lets see, You tell the Marines to secure a building and they will assault it. You tell the Army to secure a building they they will set up perimeter security. You tell the Navy to secure a building they will make sure it is locked. You tell the Air Force to secure a building and they will get you a three year lease with the option to buy. That is why I joined the Air Force, maybe why I went into real estate. Can I pickem or what? Former BUFF crew chief, I didn't have a M16, I had a 4 one Megaton free fall weapons and 8 rack mounted one Kiloton SRAMs.

Actually, those 223 bullets look like seconds. One on the left looks close to being ok but look at the one on the right laying down. It has too much jacket material and it is over formed. You may have to double click on the picture to make it larger. The one on the far right has what looks like marks on the nose. I bought 4k bullets last year from River Valley Ordinance, the lady told me they were new grade 1 bullets and they all looked about like that. I had to throw a bunch a way and resize all of them 224 thru a Lee sizer and some were pulls and out of round. They shoot like but I still plink with them. Just a warning about RVO. I tried to contact them after I got my order, phone-email, could never get a response. Just a warning, order from reputable companies.

I think that is a little over reactive as I feel the same way when I deal with my revolvers with light triggers, the DAO autos I owned, and even normal SA guns, I get paranoid about the safety getting knocked off while carrying. I will carry a 1911 but even if I still owned one I wouldn't carry a Browning Highpower or a CZ75 cocked and locked.

I traded for a Glock a while back and when I stripped it it had a New York 1 trigger spring in it. A little heavy but not horrible, about 8.5lbs I think. I took it out to save as I never wanted to have to buy one and replaced it with the normal spring. I saved it the heavy little sucker and now I put it in my G27 that I have been carrying. I feel a little better about it as I also order one of those clip draws. Works good if you clip it on the pants and let it go under the belt. I also use one of those trigger blockers...most of the time anyways. I really don't worry about AD's with this setup as I am very careful about how I insert the gun, drawing it is not a problem as the force on the trigger is pulling, not pushing.

Since this has turned into a wrist watch thread, I have a titanium Wenger that I have had for 10 years now. Great watch, I have lived with it on my wrist nearly the whole time, replaced the band last year because I like the stretch type. Now I think I covered my watch. AS to XD's, I have got to try one one day, it just seems I can always get a better deal on a used Glock, I already have a ton of Glock holsters and accessories and I know how to work on them. One day I will find a deal on a XD and I will give it a go. Every complains about the Glock grip angle and lack of safety, and I agree, but the XD's feel like a.....I don't know...very square blockish in my hand, I never feel comfortable holding one.

I never go thru comcast homepage for email. I use Thunderbird for everything. I have checked junk mail folder. I will check my mail setting on the comcast server and see if I can mod there....may be the problem, had not thought of that. Will let you know if that works.
