The government won't even look after the soldiers that are currently alive and working for it. I fear there's not much hope for a vanquished foe from long ago. I do wish you success in your endeavors though.

I forgot the beekeeping. Flying and scuba are dormant but I'm hoping to get the flying going again.

Is he looking to retire somewhere warm and sunny soon?

Who says you need a sports car or a motorcycle to run the Dragon?

I figure if my tires are speaking to me, I'm probably about right (in a car). On a bike, it's all about finding the zone. -
Hah. Similar here except for the golf. Probably would replace that with electronics.
-
What kind of reason did they give for that?

Was just thinking that last week. Then noticed I had to drop 130 on a new tire. It's all done now though :)

VW? I have the tools (mine is the 2000). Top tip: Do not lift the engine with a jack with a block of wood on top and have the block slip, dropping the engine on the jack and piercing the oil pan. Just saying. Other than that, it's just a case of following the steps one after another. You may want to replace the bolts on the harmonic balancer while you're about it as they're soft and tend to get damaged on removal (the replacements are harder).

I hear Memphis is nice... ;)

The problem is not so much living in the US as should you decide to leave. Heck, there are people who have never set foot in the US, who have never had a US bank account or had any dealings with the US whatsoever who are supposed to be filing every year according to US law. Meanwhile, once I set foot outside the UK*, the government there ceased to care. http://www.npr.org/blogs/parallels/2014/02/20/275937138/why-more-americans-are-renouncing-u-s-citizenship (* on a permanent basis)

How about a spork with a razor-sharp edge?

Was just thinking the same myself. Perhaps with a flat paracord-wrapped handle.

Sure is. Mine's up to 235k with minor maintenance.

I just renewed my green card last year. I have no plans to leave the US permanently but if you become a cit, the IRS gets their claws into you and it's hard to get them out should your circumstances change (yes, I do pay all my taxes).

Can you not just be a resident? I know I have my permit but I'm here on permanent resident so it may be different. Edit: No, have to be citizen or lawful permanent resident.. https://www.tn.gov/safety/handgun/qualifications.shtml

If you have Android, GasBuddy is pretty good. For me, it's turned out to be the local Walmart but the Pilot at 172 on 40 is usually a good price too.

There is a lot of time when it is actually pretty clear. Saturday during the day is usually not much fun but visit another day of the week or very early in the morning (or late at night) and it can be almost empty. The road itself is not much of a sightseeing road. Until you get to the overlook, it's trees one side and rocks the other. -

Another thing there, it's good courtesy to let people pass if they are going faster than you on that road (and there are a great many opportunities to pull over) but this also has the benefit that the person who prefers to take their time will not feel pressured by people crowding them from behind. Likewise, if someone is really slow-poking it, it's sometimes worth pulling off just to let them get down the road a while. Though sometimes you'll find yourself catching them up distressingly quickly. -
It's not about gun shows. It's about being able to track private sales. Don't let yourself be misled.

Definitely ATGATT. I went down a few times when I was younger but was fortunate that I bounced. -
The candles thing bothers me more as time goes on. Unless they're made out of human tallow maybe. There was no indication that it was a special time or day so who would light that many candles just to leave them burning like that in a time of shortage?

Might be time to head out there again. I have been out there several times with the National SV Rally and at other times. I usually ride and the wife drives so have been through it in a number of vehicles. To be honest, I much prefer the Cherohala. -

Definitely they're trying to distract us from something else that's going on.
