  1. Just to say, the CD arrived this morning so no worries on that. I may see about putting it out myself for anyone who needs it.

Slide-rules are still being taught in the aviation game. Albeit under a different name And since you can get watches with these scales on, they are also slide-rules you can wear... (don't be fooled at the ones that are just decoration though. The one below is fully functional)
  3.   Apparently quite a lot of people don't actually find it all that hard to live with. Hollywood myth.
  4. Even nostalgia isn't what it used to be.   A friend and I got called into the deputy-head's office one time on an unrelated issue. He thought we would have evidence of our wrong-doings in our bags (which would have made no sense but whatever). What we did have were 6" knives we had brought in to compare. We were just told not to bring them in again and that was that.   I guess if nothing else, it brought discussion of the wrong-doings themselves to an end (of which we were totally guilty). :D
  5. I've always had reasonable luck with clips like that. I tend to push or squeeze them on rather than tap them. Get them in position then one firm push with something with a flat surface. They have nowhere to go.
  6.   Might be an option to do something like a watch spring-pin. Not that it's a big deal.
  7.   That's a design decision that puzzles me. What is the purpose of it being spring-loaded (or even a pin)? Am I missing something?   Never mind. I forgot I worked that out before... :D
  8.   I'm not a big fan of the videos. A good labelled step-by step diagram is far superior and doesn't have to keep being paused and backed-up.   There is at least one pin (bolt catch spring pin I think) where it's hard to tell from the videos which way around it's supposed to go because most of them just pick it up and insert it without explaining and their big thumbs get in the way. And they do some bits too slow and some bits too fast.
  9.   I put mine on before I assembled the cover. It's only an issue once the barrel is installed I think (It was actually already installed for my pistol upper kit)
  10. Neither. Down with some oatmeal though.
  11. Friday? It's about time. That's all I can say.

    Yep. ALH sounds correct.
  13.     Should turn up at one of those buybacks and insist that the cop operating it go through a background check :)

I did a raised bed last year. Threw in some watermellon seeds and had it take over everything (the other stuff wasn't doing so well so I let it).

The pepper seeds are special ones and aren't generally available. So I kinda want to make them count. Stuff like tomatoes etc I'm not so fussed about.
  16. Hmm. That may not be something I want to be putting on a public forum.

Ah yeah, I bought the parts with the water pump so did that as well. Don't forget that the mount bolts are stretch and will need replacing (on the mkIV at least) I think I had to move my front-end forward when I did the AC. That was an interesting job.
  18. Could someone lend me a copy of the hunter's ed CD? We're going to order it tomorrow but don't know if it will arrive in time for the class. Alternatively, if someone could make an image and load the files somewhere, that would avoid having to arrange meeting in person. Appreciated in advance. Edit: Ideally, please know if it's the version that's valid for this year. It doesn't seem to say on the twra site which version is valid.

I've done a garden on-and-off the last few years with very mixed success. I seem to get everything in too early or too late. I think I should have planted the pepper seeds a couple of weeks ago.
  20. Hi-point. When you turn that in, you have to give the cops money ;)
  21. You had me at "Bacon"
  22. Lies
  23.   Special circumstances there I think. Personal weapons would be more of a hindrance than a help in normal ship-bound duties (space was real tight) and when you can see the enemy from far off...
  24. Anyone who is an officer, commissioned or non (certainly sergeant or above) should be required to carry a sidearm unless it otherwise interferes with their duty. After that, we can talk about concealed carry for all or whatever strawman is being thrown up by the left.
