  1. But then how will I post a selfie of me breaking open that ATM?
  2.   Surprised the grabbers didn't return "suicide" then.
  3. Nah, the mining pools are pretty benign. You can do it on your own (and some still do probably) but joining a pool decreases variance which could be important if you're using it for an income.
  4. They may just not have had it in stock. I know for several items, they have been available within hours for me.
  5. The funny thing is, you can buy it online, do "in store pickup" and some poor schlub will walk through the store and pick up the exact item and take it back to the layaway for you. Saved $30 on a GPS that way.
  6. They are smaller. It's because of the change of the aspect ratio. Most notably in the vertical direction but you're also losing square inches too. I think I sized our set to match our old 28" vertically and it came up as a 32. On the upside, you tend to lose less to the bezel. On the whole, it's mostly upside but just something to be borne in mind.
  7. Just to got Devil's advocate here, suppose bullet fragments had been left in the wound and one finally broke free, got to his heart and caused a fatal heart attack. Mentally, after 33 years, it's hard to assimilate the connection yet it is death as a direct result of the original crime. (As opposed to falling down a flight of stairs due to walking skills being of reduced capacity for example)
  8. Heh, my mining days were over. When I was doing it, I'm pretty sure it was a losing prospect for people in my class. I tried some Litecoin but gave up after 3. I don't think that's going anywhere though. I don't think the alts are either but if you're making a profit from it, fair game.
  9. Heh. Yeah, camping is camping but if you're looking for creature comforts, may as well hotel it.
  10. Oh, I certainly wasn't doing that. I'm sure there are many reasons, financial, patriotic or just wanting to kill people. Obviously, if you're in it just for the money or massacre, then that's one thing but if you signed up to protect your country and countrymen, that's a different matter. Clearly, it's becoming obvious that that's not so much what the military is about these days and if one joins up, one should have their eyes open to that. Which may explain recruitment issues somewhat. Please note that I'm not judging servicemen or their motivations in the least. It's those who feel that just because someone signed on the dotted line that they should be subject to the whims of "something has to be done". These are your neighbors and countrymen and sometimes your co-workers and family. Think twice before wishing them put in harms way
  11. Don't listen to this guy. Don't listen to me either. Do some research and decide for yourself. Or if you just want to dismiss it as a Ponzi because you understand neither, that's cool too. You won't suffer from joining late if it catches on.
  12.     Yeah, it'll probably go the way of that internet fad thing. See you in 2040.
  13. If someone dies from their wounds, a charge of homicide is due but not until that happens. This seems like a stretch for this case but imagine if it were just three weeks or so.
  14. OTA is making a bit of a comeback because of cable cutters. But it's true it will eventually give way to internet downloads once the media companies get their heads out of their arses.
  15. I wouldn't dare to speak for them, I'm sure it's many and varied. Would any who have been through the services care to comment?
  16. Do "we"? Or do the politicians send other peoples' sons, fathers and brothers out there to do their bidding? Not that there might not be plenty who would be willing to go but I'm sure that's not what many signed up for. I'm sure for those non-military who are calling for action, there's little to stop them getting there and joining the fighting themselves.
  17. It's an interesting question of where you draw the line though. I would think this wouldn't count but there's definitely some murky area in there.
  18. Exactly. Though it should be noted that Bitcoin currently *is* inflating but that's designed to taper off and go to zero by 2040.
  19. I believe investigations are underway but many dollar swindlers get away Scott free day after day. And really mtgox/karpeles would only be one reason if you really want two, you could throw in trendon shavers (Who has been charged by the SEC FWIW). But again, just another standard scammer who happened to pick Bitcoin.
  20. Google Goldman Sachs, Enron, Worldcom and Bernie Madoff then put all your dollars in a paper sack and send them to me.
  21. Completely. Though the distributed ledger arguably has value in itself.
  22. I usually say it's a great way to keep in touch with people you don't want to be in contact with :)
  23. Quite possibly the next big thing. Or not. Personally I'm pretty enthused about it as I think inflation is being hideously abused.   Definitely *not* any kind of scam (though scams are/can and have been attached to it). I'd be happy to answer any questions.
  24. Heh, voice is probably the one thing I could most do without on my smartphone.   Don't use facebook too often. I think for some people (not all), it's just a way to try and pretend that their meaningless existence isn't so meaningless. It does have its uses though.
  25.   I'm a big fan of the DA/SA Walther P99. I carry decocked but it's trivial to cock it should the need arise and then you're SA all the way. As long as you train with it, I figure it's all down to individual preference.
