Plus we're getting all the "it's not that contagious" (which is true). So maybe millions are not likely to die but even if it's two or three or a dozen, if it's because you haven't put sane procedures in place, that's no comfort to those dieing a god-awful death. Collectivists...

The question really is what caused this setting. Without knowing, it could happen again.

All the stupid security theater we have going on has made people forget how to actually think through the real thing.

You are oldschool ;). Jobs for life is done and gone and there's nothing shameful about a period of unemployment these days. In fact, if it can be timed right, it's the only way to get vacation worth a damn this side of the Atlantic. As for the unemployment, I'd prefer that was managed as a private voluntary contract but it's there so I see no problem with taking advantage of it. If the government wasn't robbing us blind, we'd have savings to tide us over.

Relevant part of the report (this is an old story)

It may have actually pulled the trigger or pulled the firing pin safety out of the way.

P-51 pilot who chased a German plane through the Eiffel Tower dies.

I always wanted to nip under the Natchez Trace bridge. Should be plenty of room. -
Worked with an experimental NMR supercon magnet in a different life. There was an article on the door of how they (somewhere else) had tested with an (unloaded) firearm in the field and managed to get the hammer to fall. So I can believe this. The weapon shouldn't discharge from the impact itself but there is a whole bunch else going on in a field that strong. If that was a superconducting magnet, you don't just "shut it down" though. The field must be ramped up and down over a long period lest you cause a quench (and you don't want to do that).

I do believe they send you a notice that the new permit will be coming that you can use in the meantime. My permit was so close behind that it made no different though.

Yup. That's why I was asking for the ipconfig /all Typing those DNS servers into Google reveals a whole host of people with a similar issue. Fortunately, it looks as if the web server itself is not currently doing anything malicious. The good news is that it's not 127.0.0.1 which would indicate a rogue DNS service running locally.

Yes. It's definitely not a walmart server. What does the ipconfig /all say? It doesn't appear to be a minecraft server either (just checked :) )

Why was open carry without a permit vetoed in TN?

If you think that's genuinely the reason, I have a bridge to sell you. -
Reverse lookup on that IP is 158.85.130.12-static.reverse.softlayer.com. Softslayer is some kind of Minecraft thing that I don't think Walmart would be associated with. That it is only on that one computer would seem to indicate it may be some kind of malware. If you do an ipconfig /all, what does it list as your DNS server(s)? Is it the same as on your other computers? If I telnet directly to the HTTP port on that IP, I get nothing useful. Walmart.com redirects me to www.walmart.com You should probably scan for malware.

You can get more than one copy as I was looking into it once. It's pretty cheap (was $6 at the time I think). I left mine in a restaurant six months before it was due for renewal so I had to get a replacement and then a renewal in short order.

They did have a pump from the river also. I think being in Atlanta, finding reasonable water most of the time wouldn't be too problematic but it would only take one bad supply to ruin your week.

Well,
Carol seemed to manage to be able to run into soap, a sink and a towel between when she was rolling around on the floor with that leader woman and meeting up with the gang in the woods.
Famous last words ;) (Though I'd probably do the same).

We need a small safe for documents etc but have similar issue with location. I'm considering cutting a hole in the side of a closet and having the safe body be in the closet but the door be in the wall and concealable. Could just put the safe in the closet itself of course but that's not always the easiest to get to.

Because if you can't cover all contingencies, you shouldn't cover any contingencies. It may be that if things happened to get bad, laying low for a week or two could increase your odds pretty well. If this get bad, the guy who run the water treatment plant may turn up for work. Or not. At the worst, you have extra provisions in place for the next hard winter.

Air doesn't just magic itself around. Think influenza. A major factor in its spread was the concentration of casualties from WW I . Keep yourself away from the infected and you are giving yourself a fighting chance.

You know they call those "suicide cables", right? But nice find.

I seem to recall that there's a balance. If a virus is too deadly and too easily transmissible, it will quickly become limited and die out quickly. Ebola is pretty deadly, pretty quickly so if it did somehow become truly airborne, it wouldn't be particularly successful and wouldn't wipe out huge amounts of people. The death toll would be quite nasty though and there's no accounting for stupidity (particularly from the government) making things worse. If you ever had any prepping inclinations, now is the time. Incubation period is typically 8-10 days and death occurs 8-9 days after that (with some wide variations on both). You can go three weeks without food but only a few days without water. You don't want to be rubbing shoulders with people waiting for FEMA to hand out water bottles.

I was ready for a motorcycle thread.

Yep. Cars have become so reliable at their base level that they need to add more crap to break to get you back in the dealership.

I think Ford did too from their short period of ownership. I have to agree with the premise of the thread too. I am a VW guy but they have lost a lot of their distinctiveness in the recent models.
