  1. All good info guys! Soaking and cleaning today. We'll see what it does at the range when I can get there...
  2. Not confusing Springs. Just trying to think of how much energy is going to be needed to reset hammer with slide cycle. Wasn't sure if it would be significant and cause more problems rather than solving. I will try the washing/soaking in wd40 and see if a good cleaning solves problem before changing anything. Thanks for thoughts...
  3. I will try that. Wd40 fixes a lot of things. That and ductape... Although I have heard that consistent use of wd40 can be bad longterm, a single use might loosen things up..
  4. Hmmm... Haven't looked to see what was available yet. Had not considered a heavier spring might not be available. I would not want to go lower so I suppose stock is the way to go. Thought a heavier spring might need a more powerful (higher quality) round to cycle reliably. I might get that spring pack with a couple lower lb Springs and just see what happens compared to stock. Maybe the lighter spring would need less energy to cycle and could use cheaper plinking ammo? Don't know if my logic holds water, but the pack is just $10 so I might try it and see what happens. Thanks guys
  5. I have a PPKS that is 20+ years old. It was always a good shooter but after sitting for a few years and getting back out it has a lot of miss fires. Looking at the rounds that fail to fire it seems to be a light strike. Even the ones on the spent casings seem light even though they fire. I can restrike without cycling so I pull trigger 2 to 3 times and it will eventually fire the round. May seem elementary to some but it seems to me the hammer spring has weakened. Does this sound correct to some that know about such things? Assuming I replace the hammer spring, Why would I not put the strongest spring I can find in it? I don't see why I would put a stock spring in it if a heavier spring is available. Can someone enlighten me on this subject? Does that make it harder to cycle? More stovepipes? Any opinions welcome...
  6. At least I think I do. I have and carry a ppks I have owned for 20 years. I love it but it is only 7 rounds of 380. The mod 2 holds 13 rounds of 9mm in a not much larger package. And contrary to public opinion, I like the "grip zone" Sort of dorky cool... Any opinions good or bad about this gun?
  7. I've looked online and stuff I like I'm not sure will fit. The stuff I know will fit I'm not sure I like. I'll keep the 6" smith in mind while I'm looking and see what I find. Thanks
  8. I have a Colt Anaconda with a 6 inch barrel I bought new some 20 or so years ago. Love it and would love to have something better than the cheap nylon generic holster I use now when hunting. Use it as backup weapon, not primary hunting weapon. Problem is the Anaconda isn't made any more so no manufacturer describes holster as fitting the Anaconda. I like the molded leather holsters, but I realize that May be to much to hope for. I could use a non-molded leather holster with a flap that could be rigged across the chest, but would sizing for the Redhawk work? I think they have a 5.5 or 7 inch barrel. What weapon should I order for? Long way to ask what size to order for a good fit on the Anaconda with 6 inch barrel?
  9. OK So I am pretty well on target Thanks
  10. All my life I had heard a 4 inch blade was the longest you could carry. In my youthful thinking I always thought that meant a pocket knife/folding knife carried in your pocket, "concealed". I also assumed that you could carry whatever you wanted if it was on your belt, not concealed. I have since learned the 4 inch blade length is the absolute maximum on blade length with some exemption made for a hunting/camping situation. Is my thinking now correct? I know there were some changes making there way through the state government, but I never heard there were any significant changes made, so I guess no real changes were made? I say all this to simply ask, what exactly are the tennessee knife laws? Blade length, does the situation matter (camping, hunting, etc), does it matter if it is on your belt or in your pocket? Any other interesting information I might need to know?
  11. Wow! Lots of quick positive comments! I gues I'm not to crazy for thinking seriously about one of these...
  12. Had a plumber come to my house and as he was reaching up into the sealing noticed what appeared to be a knife case with an odd grip. Asked if that was a pistol on his hip and he showed me a small revolver from Norh American Arms. The case was indeed a for a folding tool/knife and he said the pistol fit perfectly. I have seen the NAA revolvers in various gun shops and always looked at them as somewhat of a novelty, but this episode got me thinking of the old axiom that the best pistol is the one you have with you. Would have to be better than a 9mm or .45 left at home or in the car. I realize a 22 is far from an ideal personal defense caliber, but who wants to volunteer to get shot by one from 3 feet away to test? Wouldn't be my favorite day. Got me thinking somewhat seriously about one of these. Anyone have much experience with these? Reliable? General comments?
  13. Pants actually designed with an extra pocket for use as a holster? Seems like a weapon would wear thru the fabric much like your keys wear marks/holes in your pocket showing on the outside. That's why people leave there keys in the desk instead of carrying them if possible. Anyone use these for a long time to vote on wear properties? If used for a long time I assume you like them. How large a weapon can you carry in these (let's keep comments clean :-)) Any other comments/advice on these?
  14. Thought it sounded a little gimmicky, but I wondered if anyone had any real experience with it. Guess I'll stick to more tried and true stuff until t here is more info on it. Reviews online seem to either like it or really didn't have an opinion. Needed more testing.
  15. This stuff is supposed to be a compressed powder that expels all of the bullet's energy into the target when it hits moisture(no exit wound). Sounds like an ideal hunting round. I've read some very positive reviews as well as some reviews that don't seem completely convinced. Anybody with real world experience who can enlighten me either to pros or cons of this ammo?
