Glock has 65% of the market because of price. The M&P is starting to meet or beat their price with American manufacturing and better steel components (SS barrel/slide). All those things add up to a better gun in some respects. That being said I've owned both and much prefer anything over a Glock. Mainly because of how the Glock feels in the hand. They are good guns and do what they claim. I still think the Glock 19 is the best sized gun out there and for the life of me can figure out why more manufactures don't make one in that same size.

OWS protestors Oakland CA Amazingly Ignorant
Smith replied to JG55's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I thought most of us here were old enough to know the difference between idealism, reality, and practical application. This is the problem with government bureaucracies filled with college trained "intellectuals". Just because someone has "some" truth in their thinking doesn't mean they have anything worth while to say. Marx had some good ideas, in a juvenile theory, but the problem is they were couched in a horribly wrong world view. Thus skewing the good and the bad. Reacting to the moment is never a good way to fix a long term problem. These "protesters" are reacting to the moment and have no regard to history, perspective outside themselves and their own lives, or an understanding of human events past or present. Context is everything. This is the difference between Tea Party protest and these folks. I won't legitimize a group of people who are using 10% truth to destroy the other 90% truth. -
If they ever ship. Be careful.

I'd have to say these two as far as practical knives go. The Gerber I carry everyday and have really enjoyed it. I like the CS Recon better but it's a little large for most days. I'd sure like to have one of those ZT 300/350's though.

October 15, 2011 - Middle TN Meet & Shoot @ CMHR

Taylor, thanks for the video. Made me so proud watching her shoot that gun. She said it "kinda" hurt and she really liked working that lever on the Rossi 92. She made the 5.56 look like a big gun! haha! BTW - great pictures Dan. Thanks for taking them and sharing. -
Yeah, it was a blast to shoot! Thanks for letting me and my kids have a run at it. Definitely moved up on the list of have to have guns!

Isolationism: Tell me why it's a bad idea.
Smith replied to gregintenn's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Funny thing is I agree with just about every one in this thread to one degree or another. I do think you need to distinguish between non-Interventionism and Isolationism, but I don''t think practically speaking we can do either completely. You think the world economic situation is bad now? It would be non-existent (as in no economy) if we were took either philosophy to it's design. The Medieval system of fiefdoms would be the norm. We all know how that worked out for the world. There are many ways we could and should lessen our role worldwide and make things better. Doing away with the UN for one would take care of a lot of the non-sense. It would allow us to act much more firmly and directly as needed instead of getting mixed up with a bunch of political idiocracy. It's like parents letting the under 10 yr old kids and the crazy uncle decide on the family budget. -
October 15, 2011 - Middle TN Meet & Shoot @ CMHR

Yes, thanks to every one who organized the event. Sorry I didn't get to meet many of the guys and gals but my three kids were keeping me busy. I will say, personally, my highlight was watching my 8 yr old daughter shoot the STG E4 (Aug clone) and then asking me if she could shoot the Rossi 92. She liked the E4 and was a pretty good shot with it, but she LOVED the 92! Wasn't as accurate on it as the E4 or Marlin 60, but she kept asking for more ammo! Love it! I see more range visits with he in the future where we can work on actual shooting skills. Also, thanks to Taylor for letting us shoot his MP5 SD .22 he picked up at D&T this morning. GREAT fun gun. I was debating getting one and now it has moved up on the list. Great time IMO! Can't wait for the next one. -
Supposedly, they are using blanks. Thus the reason they have to charge each round. Besides that I wouldn't have wanted to be in that crowd when all those bullets started coming down!
-
Don't have the Marlin, but the Rossi 92 I have is an incredibly fun, practical, and handy gun. Minimal recoil, cheap to shoot, about as compact as you can get, and with .357 Leverlution ammo it works on just about any TN game. The Rossi's you can readily get in the $350-$450 range depending on configuration. I've really been wanting one of the Marble's tang sights. Anyone have any feedback on those?

I think I was saying that the person filling out the report carries a lot of discretion and interpretation. IIRC but then again, I've had more kids since this thing started so my memory isn't that great.

Don't know why you think there is some personal thing with you. Point is you can't have your cake and eat it too. The way i choose my candidate is no different than yours. The fact I prioritize other things does not negate my approach nor yours. However, the "magical" middle ground that is commonly understood is not a reality. It, like communism, is a fantasy of feel good theory that has never worked. The idea that someone can be a blank slate who objectively listens to politicians debate and then make a choice is fantasy, naiveté, or ignorance. Anyone who in this day and age doesn't know what they are looking for going into an election cycle is the most uniformed fence sitter there is. You are not middle ground. The fact you have made decisions means you have sided if nothing else by definition alone. My point is we are far more alike than we are different. Those who do believe in the "magic" middle ground are the ones I refered to. Lighten up lucy. -
It's not our thin emotional skin, its our thins external skin and easily broken bones! I got hit at 25 mph by a guy on his cell phone and the doctor said I looked like i got my leg hit by a sledgehammer!. Just sayin!

We've had this discussion before and no insult intended. That being said there has been just as much inferrence here as well as every other political thread that if you align with anything (right or left) you are a brainwashed party liner and the only open minded true thinkers are those "enlightened" middle grounders. It just ain't so. Riding the fence just leaves you with busted balls. -
Ever ridden 50 miles at 25 miles an hour on a sidewalk with tires that are .5" wide and no suspension? Are you serious? BTW - all roads have "designated" bike paths. They are called roads.

As a former cyclist and current motorcyclist I think it bears rembering that those who posses the greatest power have the greater responsibility to control it. I see FAR too many people who forget in the isolated atomosphere of their cage that they are essentially sitting behind the wheel of a 2500+ lbs missle traveling at incredible speeds. Let's see who bears the most responsibility .... the guy who will dent a car (bicylclist/motorcycle) if he hits it and will more than likely be severly injured, even at low speeds, or the cager who will get out and whine about the little dent that was left. I've been hit once and had to dodge a great many people driving on our fair roadways and it never cease to amaze me that the people who nearly hit me usually start hollering at me for being in their "way".

That's a feel good statement and sounds good but I grieve for the person standing in the "middle" waiting to be swayed by a political campaign of any persuasion. Anyway, to the OP: Sorry for getting off topic. You post is a good one to think about and I agree in principal. Good post. -
That's what I answered. The State charges $10 for each background check and each background check can have total of 5 guns on each one. If a dealer charges more than that it is their own policy not the states. The transfer fees are purely the FFL's discretion.

Some people know just enough to be dangerous ... like the old guy. The two verses you used are often used and usually completley out of context. As far as the murder verse, the Hebrew is very clear about what constitutes murder. Killing, war, death penalty etc were all different words and would never be confused with the term for murder. It is an English translation "error" that is not often addressed that casues the problems. The forgiveness principle in the first verse had to do with a cultural understanding dealing with the Romans in Jewish culture and how a slave with spiritual "freedom" should respond to a culture that had not embraced their new found spiritual freedom. IT was bridging the gap between being spiritually free while being culturally enslaved.

Come on Webster! I wasn't giving the definition but rather the constitutional principle of amendments the constitution lays out. They are a way to make changes but were never intended to change the original principles. BTW - My spell check at work doen't work as well as at home. Grammar Nazi! -

I am proudly on the right and the words you choose were wrong even though your intentions were right. It makes a difference. The so called "middle" is a place for people who don't know what they believe or why they believe it. I care as much for the super rich as I do for the lowest as I do for the middle. If you tend towards a specific group you need to re-read your post about the solid principles of the contitution. It affords the same rights for all. Regardless of position, race, belief, or any other subjective stance. We have as much representation as we have choosen to give up. It wasn't taken from us, we gave it away becasue of complacency. Ammended means added to - not clarified, not reinterpreted, not a change of original thought. The contitution also allows for ammendments. -

I understand that, but common usage has those terms meaning the complete opposite of your intentions. The leftist use those terms to mean that it is ever changing and evolving (or growing) as we out smart the generations that came before us. Just saying. -

Smith replied to wjh2657's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The Constitution is not a living breathing document. It is a solid statement of principles that do not change with the desires or cultural wishes of a particular generation ..... Thank GOD! There is one principle that we apply to where we are but not the other way around. The "living/breathing" mentality is why parties can claim polar opposites of the document as "right". BIG mistake on the authors part. Other than that I agree with most of the rest. -
The state only allows 5 guns on one BC and then you have to sumbit another BC for the next five and so on. The transfer fee is ca conveinece charge from the store doing the transfer and I told that varies in this area.
