  1. Traded the MSAR for this baby and I think I did alright. I liked the MSAR but it was just too long for my kids to shoot well and there isn't a .22 conversion for it. This I plan to add either a .22 conversion or a dedicated upper so I can afford to take my kids shooting more. Anyway, here it is. Stag lower, Sabre Upper with 18" SPR stainless fluted middy barrel, Vortex FH, Vltor stock, Troy MRF rails, EOTech 512, Magpul Al winter trigger guard, Magpul BUIS, and Tango Down grip.
  2. Personally, I think they have maxed out. For awhile they had gone up to $800 and I would say that is the ceiling. I've watched them go for $350 (where they should be) 5 years ago to where they are now. They are coming down in price and will probably lock into the $450-$550 range and stay. The ban nonsense will never happen unless they ban a whole lot of other shotguns so while it is not out of the realm of possibility I don't see it happening. That being said I think they will hold their value in the $500-$550 range and would be a great shotgun for anyone. As a collector piece not so much but as a shooter and more fun than you will know what to do with gun!
  3. Probably EFK Firedragon. Good barrels. I have used them a number of times. Pistol and Gun Accesories | EFK Fire Dragon
  4. Yes, you can get a 9mm or 357 SIG conversion barrel and it will work in the .40 slide. It has to be a conversion barrel and not just a standard barrel to work. As far as the recoil spring you may want to change springs but it is not mandatory. The only thing it might do is not cycle light load 9mm.

    S&W M&P

Can't speak for Hawkeye, but of the 3 full-size 9's I've had the first one was awesome from the factory, the second was awful (very very "gritty"), and the third has been normal. Don't know why the discrepancy but I'm told that is normal. Reports are that they all get a lot better after using them for awhile.
  6. Remeber on the Saiga 12 the shepherds crook has to be filled down to clear the bolt.
  7. Not a big fan of the SAW grip. The Molot grip is far better. Molot Style AK Pistol Grip - MD ARMS [MDGrip] - $19.99 : Mississippi Auto Arms, Inc ::, Your Source for Saiga, AK47, AR15, Tromix, Glock, and SKS firearms and accessories
  8. The reason for the price difference is the precision in the grinding of the glass. To get a near perfect concave lens takes time and precision equipment. The more expensive scopes are ground better than cheaper ones. This is the main reason for the high dollar scopes being better. A precision ground lens is what gives you clarity, light transmission, etc. That being said, the Japanese do this very well and at a cheaper cost. They can do that because their scopes are an extension of their pricier photo lens buisness. I have been impressed with the Nikon's as many have mentioned. I have a Nikon Team Primos (early Monarch) that is excellent.

    S&W M&P

I get to play with these all day long every day and personally I think the M&P is a better gun. Reliability and aftermarket support are pretty much even. The Glocks reset is more positive but with the Apex they are nearly identical. What tips the scales way over (IMO) is the use of stainless components (barrel, slide, etc,) and the enormously better ergo's of the M&P.
  10. It was PM's I wasn't getting. However, I discovered it was evidently an issue with the Opera browser. This morning they are working on Firefox and Chrome, but are still "frozen" in Opera.
  11. For some reason I'm not able to get PM's on the TGO site. I am getting the E-mail notice and a notification when i log into the site but all the new ones aren't showing. Am I the only one or is anyone else having an issue?

    worst rifle ever!

except the one that shot JFK. From what I've read the Benet-Mercie was pretty bad.
  13. Flea Party! That's funny right there!
  14. I'm basing that on the fact that there is definitely more "finish" work on the M&P as opposed to the glock block style and that the M&P is all stainless with melonite on top. The Glock is regular steel with Melonite on top. Cracked slides happen. I've seen Glocks with every problem any other gun has had. That's just the nature of mass produced mechanical devices. I think they are are equal as far as dependability goes. That being said, I think objectively speaking, the differences are preference based. Six of one half a dozen of the other.
  15. There is an official statement by the ATF stating that 922r is unenforceable on an individual basis. It was designed to reduce import issues and is only enforced at the import level. I'll have to try and find that actual statement. Technically speaking though unless you have a manufactures license, changing parts is not manufacturing a gun with unqualified parts, thus you CAN"T violate 922r. 922r is worded towards manufacturing with certain parts outside the US and still be made importable.
  16. Glock has 65% of the market because of price. The M&P is starting to meet or beat their price with American manufacturing and better steel components (SS barrel/slide). All those things add up to a better gun in some respects. That being said I've owned both and much prefer anything over a Glock. Mainly because of how the Glock feels in the hand. They are good guns and do what they claim. I still think the Glock 19 is the best sized gun out there and for the life of me can figure out why more manufactures don't make one in that same size.
  17. I thought most of us here were old enough to know the difference between idealism, reality, and practical application. This is the problem with government bureaucracies filled with college trained "intellectuals". Just because someone has "some" truth in their thinking doesn't mean they have anything worth while to say. Marx had some good ideas, in a juvenile theory, but the problem is they were couched in a horribly wrong world view. Thus skewing the good and the bad. Reacting to the moment is never a good way to fix a long term problem. These "protesters" are reacting to the moment and have no regard to history, perspective outside themselves and their own lives, or an understanding of human events past or present. Context is everything. This is the difference between Tea Party protest and these folks. I won't legitimize a group of people who are using 10% truth to destroy the other 90% truth.
  18. If they ever ship. Be careful.
  19. I'd have to say these two as far as practical knives go. The Gerber I carry everyday and have really enjoyed it. I like the CS Recon better but it's a little large for most days. I'd sure like to have one of those ZT 300/350's though.
  20. Taylor, thanks for the video. Made me so proud watching her shoot that gun. She said it "kinda" hurt and she really liked working that lever on the Rossi 92. She made the 5.56 look like a big gun! haha! BTW - great pictures Dan. Thanks for taking them and sharing.
  21. Yeah, it was a blast to shoot! Thanks for letting me and my kids have a run at it. Definitely moved up on the list of have to have guns!
  22. Funny thing is I agree with just about every one in this thread to one degree or another. I do think you need to distinguish between non-Interventionism and Isolationism, but I don''t think practically speaking we can do either completely. You think the world economic situation is bad now? It would be non-existent (as in no economy) if we were took either philosophy to it's design. The Medieval system of fiefdoms would be the norm. We all know how that worked out for the world. There are many ways we could and should lessen our role worldwide and make things better. Doing away with the UN for one would take care of a lot of the non-sense. It would allow us to act much more firmly and directly as needed instead of getting mixed up with a bunch of political idiocracy. It's like parents letting the under 10 yr old kids and the crazy uncle decide on the family budget.
  23. Yes, thanks to every one who organized the event. Sorry I didn't get to meet many of the guys and gals but my three kids were keeping me busy. I will say, personally, my highlight was watching my 8 yr old daughter shoot the STG E4 (Aug clone) and then asking me if she could shoot the Rossi 92. She liked the E4 and was a pretty good shot with it, but she LOVED the 92! Wasn't as accurate on it as the E4 or Marlin 60, but she kept asking for more ammo! Love it! I see more range visits with he in the future where we can work on actual shooting skills. Also, thanks to Taylor for letting us shoot his MP5 SD .22 he picked up at D&T this morning. GREAT fun gun. I was debating getting one and now it has moved up on the list. Great time IMO! Can't wait for the next one.
  24. Supposedly, they are using blanks. Thus the reason they have to charge each round. Besides that I wouldn't have wanted to be in that crowd when all those bullets started coming down!
  25. Don't have the Marlin, but the Rossi 92 I have is an incredibly fun, practical, and handy gun. Minimal recoil, cheap to shoot, about as compact as you can get, and with .357 Leverlution ammo it works on just about any TN game. The Rossi's you can readily get in the $350-$450 range depending on configuration. I've really been wanting one of the Marble's tang sights. Anyone have any feedback on those?
