  1. The bonding and insurance required by law is your biggest deterrent.

    Best SKS?

The best SKS to get is an AK.
  3. Personally, I really like the RFB for your purposes. The DRT ammo seems to be a good choice as well.
  4. "Loan" it to your dad and be done with it.
  5. It all in how you word it. You worded it like a straw purchase. Now you can buy a gun for yourself and what you do with it after that is entirely up to you (providing it is legal).
  6. Look in the Gunsmith sub-forum and there is a very good write up with links to parts, pictures, and videos on how to do the job yourself.
  7. In regards to the OP, there is no registration in TN. The gun is not in anyone's "name". The only way it is traced is if it is used in a crime and then the serial name is traced from the manufacturer, to the gun store, to the person that filled out the 4473. After that there is only word of mouth or "bills of sale" people may or may not have filled out. As a matter of principal I usually oppose "bills if sale" on FTF but in this case it might not be a bad idea for both of you since it was satisfying a debt. The gun not being the issue but rather the settlement of the debt.
  8. They had a reputation for not don't very good work. Basically you could guarantee a caved gas block or front sight. They have recently begun contracting out their builds and quality had gotten a lot better.
  9. I think it worse to over simplify the facts and hope the ill informed don't know the difference. If that is what you heard, then you heard the echos of your own assumptions in your head. This gets old.
  10. Yeah, I don't see that ending well for the Occupy idiots. Could be good fun to watch!
  11. I like it and I usually don't care for the dark themes due to the reading difficulties others mentioned. I don't seem to have the same problem on this one. Looks really good.
  12. If it matters to you it is the same system S&W is using for their PS. Good stuff.

    Price this gun?

Yeah, this is confusing to me too - thus the post. It definitley has a 9mm bolt and the more I think about it is probably a converted 5.56. The "original" upper is not attached and is in the second picture.
  14. Need some help Colt guys! So customer comes in and wants to know the value on an original Colt 1967 m-16 9mm. I have no idea on this one This is not an NFA registered full auto reciever. The upper, lower, bolt, fixed buttstock, buffer/tube, are all original. How much are these things going for?
  15. You guys should be lawyers. You've managed to take something pretty simple and easy and made some kinda of technically ambiguous issue out of it. We were talking about a serialized AR receiver.
  16. The Savage 110 has been around a long time for a reason. They accomplished what many other companies have had to spend twice as much to achieve. They found a way to make one of the most accurate out of the box guns around for half the cost. Great guns!
  17. Yep, he's a good one
  18. I think the point is that there are legal ramifications and regulations that are tied to a firearm that do not apply to firearm parts.
  19. It is a firearm. It is serialized.
  20. Personally, I think there are far too many felonies. If sentencing was carried out, plea bargaining limited to very special circumstances, and early release (parole etc.) limited then you wouldn't need all the extra felony "severity". It's become a way for politicians to claim they are tough on crime. Kinda like when a parent says, "Obey me now! I REALLY mean it this time." The kid knows it's just a threat without much weight.
  21. Bison Armory - Bison Armory or AR Performance are the way to go. The Stag 6.8 upper is also a very good option to start with and not break the bank. Just be sure it's one of the new ones with the SPEC II chamber and 1:11 4 grove rifling. The older ones used the 1:10 5 grove and are not ideal.
  22. Yep, In a lot of ways the Filipino guns are more of a true 1911 than any gun built in the US outside of the Colt factory. They can actually claim they are NOT clones!
  23. Sweet! Maybe now we can get the Vepr 12!!!!!!
  24. Uh .... current states from the DOJ
