  1. Maybe maybe not, but I can tell you as person who rides a motorcycle daily people on their phones are much more of a problem than anything else. In fact the two wrecks I have been inolved in where due to cell phones.
  2. Consequences for your actions is by far the best education. That's why sitting with 8yr old little Smith and talking about why stealing is bad didn't work as well as the spanking he got.
  3. Get the Kel-Tec. A lot lighter and mags (especially hi-caps) are a lot easier to get. The Hi-Point you are stuck with 10rnd mags from Hi-point.
  4. How many ways are there to build two tall rectangle buildings? The cloud idea is interesting. Heck, the Petronas Towers look like twin Empire State buildings. Consider it a compliment that we are still looked at for inspiration.
  5. We pay substantially less and they can do substantially more. No bureaucracies, red tape, or idiots in Washington to tell them how to do it right. Makes an incredibly more efficient force. Good example is Sierra Leone and Executive Outcomes. The UN decided to ban PMC's after they were embarrassed by their (NATO's) ineffectiveness and EO kicking butt with minimal forces. They inserted NATO troops and the country was overrun again in months. Blood Diamonds anyone? Brought to you courtesy of NATO. Sierra Leone Civil War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia A very good unbiased documentry is "Shadow Comapany". Excellent if you want to understand PMC's history and current state. Shadow Company ? Iraq War Documentary Movie, Award Winning Film about Private Military / Security Company voiced By Gerard Butler
  6. My kids don't think much of it. We teach about giving and how Jesus gave himself for us and Santa never came into it. Do we make a big deal over it? No, They have fun with it like anything else, but that is the extent of it. I think folks get too worked over too many things.
  7. Great meeting you and I'm glad your happy. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the M&P. Now that I know you are a photographer, I expect to see same really sweet M&P9 pics that I can use for wallpapers!
  8. When I had mine a (3-4 years ago) Walther wouldn't sell anyparts except to qualified support centers and there was only one guy who could do the work outside of S&W. I believe he isn't doing service anymore and that it is all handled in house at Smith. If you have a Walther call S&W. DO NOT go through Walther. They are incredible difficult and eventually will send you to Smith who handle their work.
  9. I daily carry an m&p. Its the 3rd I've had. I've not had a PPQ but I've had several p99's. They are very comfortable and have some of the best ergos of any gun. The trigger is the only drawback to the Walther's. The reset isn't very good compared to m&ps and there us no way to work them over. Add to that the difficulty of finding parts, sights, etc. and I just can't find enough justification to get the PPQ.
  10. They're not real guns so it's OK!
  11. Equilibrium is one of my favorites. The end of Pale Rider is pretty good as well.
  12. I thought Burn After Reading was incredibly boring. Different taste I guess.
  13. Can't hunt with it? The .45LC would make an ideal brush gun around here. Add to it the fact that it's very well balanced and extremely compact it would make a great brush gun for TN. It comes with plugs for the cylinders to satisfy the migratory bird thing. When they came out I thought they were gimmicky just like I thought the Judge to be. After handling them and hearing from folks who have them I'm come to see the utility of the platform. They are a niche gun but a niche they fill well.
  14. Balls of Fury was pretty good! In a cheesy spoof context it's great.
  15. Story was pretty decent, but what's with the poll at the end? Bias anyone? Bottom Line - Ready, aim ... buy? Why gun sales spiked on Black Friday
  16. The bonding and insurance required by law is your biggest deterrent.

    Best SKS?

The best SKS to get is an AK.
  18. Personally, I really like the RFB for your purposes. The DRT ammo seems to be a good choice as well.
  19. "Loan" it to your dad and be done with it.
  20. It all in how you word it. You worded it like a straw purchase. Now you can buy a gun for yourself and what you do with it after that is entirely up to you (providing it is legal).
  21. Look in the Gunsmith sub-forum and there is a very good write up with links to parts, pictures, and videos on how to do the job yourself.
  22. In regards to the OP, there is no registration in TN. The gun is not in anyone's "name". The only way it is traced is if it is used in a crime and then the serial name is traced from the manufacturer, to the gun store, to the person that filled out the 4473. After that there is only word of mouth or "bills of sale" people may or may not have filled out. As a matter of principal I usually oppose "bills if sale" on FTF but in this case it might not be a bad idea for both of you since it was satisfying a debt. The gun not being the issue but rather the settlement of the debt.
  23. They had a reputation for not don't very good work. Basically you could guarantee a caved gas block or front sight. They have recently begun contracting out their builds and quality had gotten a lot better.
  24. I think it worse to over simplify the facts and hope the ill informed don't know the difference. If that is what you heard, then you heard the echos of your own assumptions in your head. This gets old.
