And it will still run circles around your .458 while you try to perfect your loads at $3 a round to get the same performance as an AK47 in an over priced and finicky AR platform! Well ... bye.
-
Yeah, cause that just doesn't work for the military.

I personally don't like the integrated sights. They aren't as adjustable and you can't use the numerous good mounts that use the standard leaf sights if you are so inclined down the road. The only top cover mount that works its the TWS mount and it is awesome! Stay away from the mount you posted and all like it. They don't hold zero from shot to shot.

They did, but Michael Kasner announced at Shot show he was coming back and was bringing in the Tavor. I haven't seen any reality to this yet, but that was the announcement. http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2011/12/foghorn/charles-daly-and-cd-defense-to-return-to-u-s-market-at-shot-2012/

Charles Daly is said to be bringing them back in. I'm not sure what name Kasner is going to use but he is the one working this deal.

You really shouldn't tease Paletiger like this.

Uh! Anyone in MT with an EDM machine?
Smith replied to Smith's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Nope. I'm going in the AM to have a machinist drill it. -

I could, but I'm at the point of agrivation I don't want to mess with it anymore. -

Probably going to try a carbide bit or get one of the machine shops who have some good bits to drill it out for me. -
Well, the VEPR conversion was going just TOO well. Should have known. Drilled the hole for the bullet guide, thought I'd save a few bucks and use the two taps (6/32 BTW) I had on hand and low and behold one broke! finally shattered that one through. Cleaned it up and went for the second one. Slow half turns, backing out, with lube and BAM! It broke. Now, it's in there good. Went to bust that one out and drill larger and thought I was making headway when the punch broke off in the tap! BTW- this is my 15 bullet guide install, and I was using taps that I had used before with the correct tap handle. Long story short anyone know or have and EDM machine in the Nashville area that can help me get that hole opened back up?

The stock actually fits and feels really nice. If I every get the cash to get a .308, I'll leave it on that one. I have an extra ACE skelton stock on a folding hinge sitting in the closet that I'm going to put on this. Carolinashooterssupply has a internal reciever block adapter that works for these. I'll have the pics up tonight with the stock and adapter.

How bout this. Quit spending the huge bucks for tickets, so these guys can stop quiblling over how many millions they all get to "make" and return it to a time when every family could afford to go see a game every now and then and players, coaches, refs, did it for the love of the game instead of the "Brand".

Ohhhhhhh these are NICE! I'm just a little excited. One that Centerfire had them on sale for $499 and two how incredibly beautiful these things are. The wood is very nice and finished very well and I'm tempted to leave the wood on this one, but I won't. It desires to be a military gun. I'll leave the wood on the .308! The gun itself is beautiful. It truly is the Cadilac of the AK world. Hardly any machine marks, bolt and carrier are the best finished I've ever seen on an AK (Saiga's included) and the action is butter. It is a bit heavy (8 lbs. with wood furniture) but the trade off is a heavey RPK (1.6mm) reciever, and a heavy barrel. Unlike some of the other v.1 VEPR's this one does no have the barrel threaded or plunger dilled. However, that is easy to remedy. The VEPR's use the RPK rear sight. On the inisde it has a round front trunnion (for bullet guide) and uses a retaining plate instead of the wire shepherds crook. All pluses IMO. The only negative is that the single hook trigger is not as good as the Tapco G2, but again easy remedy. At the original $650+ these are going for these are worth every penny. At $499, i couldn't let it go. Even the box is nice (for a Russian AK Box ) RPK resr sight is much nice than Saiga neutered sights. Front end view.

It is an internet forum after all!

It's a shame so many beautiful AK's were ruined by the artist.

American Classic is Metro Arms out of the Phillipines. Bersa does not make one. As to the poly frame 1911, BUL in Israel made one which Kimber tried to Import under their name. I think CD also brought in the BUL under their name after Kimber tried.

That was a tongue in cheek comparison. I was over simplifying P=MV. My original statement was assuming a certain velocity is needed to move a certain mass to effective ballistics. If you take too much velocity from the 9mm you negate it's mass and thus you get what I called a "heavy .380" . .45's overcome their deficiency in velocity by using more mass. It works on the same principal but from the complete opposite direction. That's why effectiveness is nearly identical (in SD rounds) between a .45 and a 9mm. I believe we are agreeing?

Actually pretty good price. Defensive ammo is generally around $1 a round. I shoot off my current self defense rounds once a year and then get new stuff. Other than that I shoot FMJ at the range.
-
Cold weather time is just around the corner. JHP vs FMJ?
Smith replied to IggyBcool's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
IIRC this was most prominent in the older variety of Hydrashok. If it is still an issue, 9mm would be better but I doubt with modern ammo it it's as big an issue -
Gotta love the Vickers sling. My favorite is the Wilderness Tactical Giles sling

Supposedly that's what we pay taxes and elect leaders to do. It's also what funds the check you asked to get when you signed up voluntarily for the job. So yes, when folks say "we" they mean "we" in the sense that it was properly inteded to mean. The military is the armed extension of the American people whose job it is to do what the American people ask of it. It is not an us and them. It is a "we the people."

That is awesome. Didn't have to cut welds?

Is that shroud pinned on? threads under there or just barrel?

There's no extra paperwork. Problems arise when there is an issue with the gun, shipping, or some other issue and the FFL gets stuck in the middle. It's a no win if there is a problem because the propensity of the customer getting scammed can be high and then the FFL is stuck with a gun he can't transfer, return, or sale. Technically when the gun is transferred in it belongs to the FFL until it is transferred out. When it's transferred from an FFL, if there is an issue it can simply be returned to the sending FFL. That can't be done with an individual and the receiving FFL tends to end up being the bad guy.

I have a question about being denied a purchase.

Also, TICS is simply a middle man. The state found a way to get 3-4 million dollars a year by charging $10 to run a background through the FREE NICS system. I can't believe every state hasn't figured it out. Regardless of the sentiment, TICS tries to get approvals. They want people running checks so that they keep getting checks.
