Got the CSS handguards today and got it on. I like it a lot more than I thought I would. It's light and solid. Had to do some fitting and I need to lower the front retaining mount but I'm happy. It will run a lot cooler than the wood furniture. I have a Damage Industries brake in 5/8x24 coming and then I'll be done. Anyone have a tap? Here it it's with the Draco.

Practically speaking, yes. Enforcement can only be done at the manufacturer/importer level. Otherwise, even by the ATF's letters in response to the question, there is no way to identify origin country of parts since ID stamping is not required.

Nope. 922R has no bearing after importation, except for manufactures. To the end user it is of no consequence. 922r addresses assembling from imported parts. Not the insertion of certain numbers of parts post manufacture. the 10 parts issues is only applicable to manufactures not the end user. This has been verified several times by AG letters and the ATF. Not that big of a deal. It's just a pet peave of mine when people get worked up about a non-issue and get new guys scared of breaking a non applicable law.

No, you don't have to add parts to comply with 922r. That is an importation restriction and according to the ATF and Attorney General it's unenforceable after it in country. In all the years it's been our there, there has never been a single charge citing 922r much less a case that resulted in any charge. Very nice gun btw. Enjoy it.

Just a follow up. Got to shoot the VEPR today and I'm more impressed than ever. Very easy to shoot and the irons are the easiest AK sights I've ever used. I'm still waiting on the new forearm but the Ace stock, MD arms Molot grip, and Carolina shooters internal recovery block, all worked extremely well. This is one smooth operating and shooting gun.

I personally don't like the integrated sights. They aren't as adjustable and you can't use the numerous good mounts that use the standard leaf sights if you are so inclined down the road. The only top cover mount that works its the TWS mount and it is awesome! Stay away from the mount you posted and all like it. They don't hold zero from shot to shot.

Well, the VEPR conversion was going just TOO well. Should have known. Drilled the hole for the bullet guide, thought I'd save a few bucks and use the two taps (6/32 BTW) I had on hand and low and behold one broke! finally shattered that one through. Cleaned it up and went for the second one. Slow half turns, backing out, with lube and BAM! It broke. Now, it's in there good. Went to bust that one out and drill larger and thought I was making headway when the punch broke off in the tap! BTW- this is my 15 bullet guide install, and I was using taps that I had used before with the correct tap handle. Long story short anyone know or have and EDM machine in the Nashville area that can help me get that hole opened back up?
