  1. When I had my motorcycle wreck the LEO asked if I wanted him to take it or if I wanted to take it with me to the hospital. Kinda got the feeling he was encouraging me to keep it with me. The EMT's had no problem with me keeping my gun in my bag with my other belongings. At the hospital they asked if I wanted to check it in to at the security desk or keep it on my person. I thought it was pretty cool of everybody involved and pleasantly surprising. This was downtown Nashville and at baptist hospital.

Not sensitive at all, just no need in speculating, and that's all you're doing. What "tuning" are you talking about?! The kind where you assemble the gun and shoot it? That's all I've ever done, so I don't understand what you're saying. Please, do tell. That's kinda like me saying Masseratis are silly because they require too much maintenance and are finicky.....I've never owned or driven one, but I've read it. You prefer the AK, that's great, I'd like to own one of those too. But I haven't, so I won't tell the OP anything I've read or heard about them just to be "that guy" that spreads nonsense Lighten up Lucy. I stated my opinion, that is all. I work around these things everyday. OP asked for opinions I gave mine.
  3. Get a Mossberg 500 or 870 and get a Blackhawk Knoxx spec-ops stock and don't worry about the recoil. If price is an issue get a Hawk 982 or Pardner Pump and you can use the 870 spec-ops stock on them. I've had several and their 90% recoil reduction is pretty accurate.

Who has reliability issues? Have you owned one? I own them, have built them, and as long as you have an inkling of how to tune your gas system vs. buffer, there's no problem. My latest build is a 7.5" barrel. Has no fireball because it has the Noveske KX3 on it. It is loud, but again with the KX3 all the noise is mainly down range. To the "can't do what it's supposed to do" people. What's yours "supposed" to do? We've shot mine at 100 yards and have no problem hitting a 12" steel plate. No, the ballistics won't be what a 16" barrel with a carbine gas system would be, that's common sense. But mine was built to have fun with, and it does exactly that. Would I take it to a battle? Well that's a silly question, that's not what it's for. Is it fun, reliable, and accurate at 100 yards and a little further? It sure has been. So, no...it may not punch through cinder blocks at 200 yards. If you want that, a pistol build isn't for you. But to make claims that they aren't reliable based on what you've heard or read on the interwebz isn't right. ETA: At least your not sensitive about it. Any gun that needs that much tuning to get to work is not my idea of reliable. Fun toy, sure. Practical tool, not my first choice. IMO, an AK pistol is a practical tool and a fun toy. I was making a comparison and no I don't have AR pistol. Don't need it. I have an AK pistol. :D

AK pistols make sense. The 7.62 is a fast burning round and is pretty much maxed out in a 16 in barrel, so a site barrel you're only losing a couple hundred fps. Effective range is about the same as a longer barrel. AR pistols don't make a whole lot of sense to me because you have reliability issues, the 5.56 loses quite a bit in the shorter barrel, and you basically end up with a high velocity .22 magnum IMO.
  6. Only if his order papers show him currently stationed in TN. If not, then no. Ft. Cambell is unique in that their orders give them a dual status in TN and KY.
  7. and supposedly they supported the idea of Obamacare.
  8. Not to get into it again but my personal property rights (ie Vehicle) are not trumped by someone else's property rights (ie parking lot) simply because they come into contact with one another. The law simply allows both property rights to be exercised and used in conjunction with one another and not at the exclusion of one over the other.   Of course others like FedEx and some on this forum disagree.
  9. Kel-Tec RFB.
  10. Don't waste a Vepr on the 5.45. The Vepr uses an RPK heavy receiver with a heavy barrel and is much better suited for the heavier calibers. You will be wasting all of it's great benefits on the 5.45. The Vepr is the nicest most well built AK ever made by any company.
  11. My apologies guys. Seemed decent when I talked to him and the few reviews I had read. After ordering it (in stock) 3 weeks ago I was told it was going out Friday April 26th - Didn't happen. Then told April 29th - didn't happen. Then told for sure Tuesday April 30th and that he was processing it as we spoke - didn't happen. Just talked to him this AM and he wasn't at the shop and that they were in the process of moving and he would call me back as soon as he found out what was going on with it and that it would be for sure today if it hadn't been sent already. :surrender:   Seems like a decent guy and that he was really trying but doesn't have his stuff together.
  12. Good to see the second gen's will have metal reinforced lugs and lips. If Magpul can pull off a Bulgarian "Circle 10", they will own the AK market. I am excited about the 2nd Gen's. 1st gen's fall in the category of Tapco's. I could see upgrading all the followers though. http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/04/foghorn/new-from-magpul-30-round-ak-47-magazine/
  13. When I was considering becoming a Chaplain, they made it very clear that we were expected to be true to our denomination of faith but that we could not share anything of the exclusivity of that faith.  In other words if someone was asking me how to become a Christian I couldn't share anything that conflicted the other religions because that was endorsing one over the others. If i were leading prayers I had to be neutral and couldn't say anything about Jesus Messiah, one God, or anything similar to that. I was basically told that we were to be neutral feel good cheerleaders. Yes, it is mixed up and confusing.
  14. Yeah and they don't answer there phones either. A little high but it may be where I'm stuck.
  15. Anyone know where to get one in stock? Seems like no one has any for the next 3 months.

  17. Uh, it's already a felony to transfer a gun to a person prohibited from owning a firearm. Moving it across state lines I believe would be an additional federal felony.     But yeah a new law that is a redundancy of existing laws is "doing something."
  18. There is a reason it has been refereed to as the "armpit of the south". As one poster mentioned the election of Herenton was the beginning of the end. The city is looking to incorporate every suburb and town that even remotely touches Memphis to get their taxes in order to pay for the increased welfare state. They have even been trying to figure out how to get their hands on northern Mississippi to get their taxes. The school system is a perfect example of their ineptitude. I was in school when the busing program started and the good county schools became more of the same old bad city schools. They have dropped the standard for police officers so low that most felonies don't count. No cop in his right mind works in Memphis and yes I have friends who are there and one was recently shot.   Herenton's "election" was seen by those who voted for him and even the former incumbent mayor as a "righting of racial wrongs". They don't care what they take and feel justified because it was stolen from them in the past and any criticism is simply racism. Sound familiar? Yes, Memphis is the microcosmic of the new America.   This is a very simple yet over complicated problem that will only get worse as long as Memphis clings to a racist identity that doesn't even exist.
  19. Should be here the next day or two.
  20. Palmetto had Hornady V-Max this AM.
  21.   The revolver issue is due to manufactures putting all their resources towards the more in demand guns (polymer framed, "hi-cap" mag feed guns). They can make 5 polymer framed guns for every revolver. It will take some time to level back out.
  22. I think there are a lot of factors in the slowing down and the lack of ammo seems to simply be the proverbial straw that breaks the camels back. It definitely impacts to buy or not to buy and some peoples choice on which gun they buy.
  23. For everyday use, I got one of these at OhShoot's recommendation. I Like it. http://www.swisstechtools.com/proddetail.aspx?pid=29 I had a Gerber that I really liked but somebody liked it more :( I love how their pliers come out the end.
  24. Yeah, he was the worst ever. We need more FDR's, Carter's and Obama's. :shake: I swear some of you semi-anarchist would eat your own young if someone said they thought highly of them.
  25. Janet Reno had been keeping gun buying background check records past the 48 hr. legal limit. It was under the Bush administration justice department that it was discovered and they were destroyed.
