  1. While its nice to believe they can't make it without us, they don't need us. An abandoned dog usually ends up making it by resorting to is natural instincts. That being said its a nice relationship that a dog has with a human being.
  2. While I have perfect pups for your home, in response to your original question a Great Pyrenees would be perfect. Get them young and when they identify with your family, nothing without your permission will come on your property or around your kids. You will never have coyote problems and once they locate, they will never leave their perimeter. They have heavy coats but it works to keep them cool in the summer and they love being outdoors in the coldest weather we could possibly get in middle Tennessee. Absolutely great dog for your situation.
  3. They're really starting to develop their personalities.
  4. BUMP. Still have some pups that need homes.
  5. I have some 3/4 Lab 1/4 Pit puppies I'm trying to find homes for right now that would be perfect. The lab part is going to be a great pet and the pit part will do an excellent job herding and protecting the kids.  http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/69558-free-puppies-to-good-homes/
  6. handgunlaw.us It has an interactive map and lays out all the laws for any state and reciprocity as well. Just click on the state you want info from and there are all the current laws. It is ab the most up to date and updated site i know of.
  7. Absolutely. Think of red dot's like you are playing a first person video game or using a laser. Only difference is the laser isn't seen by the target - only ON the target. ;)
  8. Basic differences in the EOtechs are what batteries they use. The smaller ones like the XPS use a single cross mounted CR123. Most use two CR123's The cheapest and my favorite, 512, uses two AA batteries. Battery life is less on the single battery versions compared to the double battery version and about the same on double battery versions, both AA and CR123. The other options are reticles and Night vision compatible. Almost all of them use the 65 MOA circle with at least one red dot. Then they have 2 and 3 dot versions that allow for holdover. Night vision just allows you to lower the power setting below 0 to allow you to use night vision goggles or an attachment. It does not have built in night vision.
  9. None of those will come close to co-witnessing unless you get the AP micro's.   D&T Arms can get you the TWS. As far as the peep sights you don't have to look through them but you have the option.
  10. No. If your doing it right you can use the red dot for quick shots and then switch to the more precise iron sights with the simple close of an eye. It also helps having the red dot light up the front sight as they can be hard to see on an AK. Kind of like having a FO front sight. So IMO, you get the bet of all worlds. BTW with the TWS I get a sight radius at lease 4" longer than an standard AR and the rear sight is behind the red dot like it's supposed to be. Other mounting options won't do this and I don't care for co-witnessing with both iron sights in front of the dot.   On my MAK90 with a TWS Dog Leg rail and a Bushnell TR-25 I can get a good co witness and love it for the reason mentioned above. On my Draco SBR I'm using the Vortex SPARC with an ADM QD mount that doesn't co-witness, but the Draco has a hooded front sight and I don't want to cut it off and that gun is more of a quick acquisition gun, so co-witness is unnecessary.
  11. This is a great option. Any credit for previous years - paid like 6 yrs credit? Just kidding. It has been worth it to watch this place grow and survive the growth over the years and be able to support it. Thanks David.
  12. It is a unique case. Mom has been separated from them since the end of week one. We've been their mom for the bulk of the time. They've adjusted well. Shots will come in two more weeks if we still have them. Vet has seen them and they've been cleared. Been on a farm most life and my family had been in industrial castle breeding, horse training, and dog breeding so I know this is not the standard but it is ok in this instance. They are doing well.
  13. No we are going to get her fixed after this. She's such a good dog I was thinking of breeding her when she got a little older. She just turned 2 and I would have never thought she'd have 10 in her first litter (one died). Unfortunatly we have some neighbors that think their dogs can run all over the neighborhood. I had her in a fenced yard with a fenced kennel on a concrete pad. Such is life. ;)
  14. I have 4 kids under the age of 10 as well. I think I'll stop there :)
  15. Got a great lab from a member here a couple years ago and evidently one of the neighborhood dogs got in the yard and then in her kennel and now we have puppies. 9 to be exact. Moms had severe mastitis so they have been bottle feed since week one. They are now weaned off the bottle and eat puppy food like a champ! 4 weeks old. Little young but ready to go. Quicker they identify your family, the quicker they will bond. 3/4 lab and maybe a little pit. 3 brown and one black male, 3 black females and one grey female. Most have a small bit of white on their chest and toes.
  16. Very, very sad for this young man's family and friends. Boredom is the reason given for a random murder. What say you Sharpton? Momma says the confessed killer was at home and a good boy. This story is so full of the clichés it's not even funny.      Had to go to an Aussie paper to actually get pictures of the murderers and details about them. http://www.news.com.au/national-news/victoria/three-teens-accused-of-murder-of-baseball-player-chris-lane-identified/story-fnii5sms-1226700172461 and another American site. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/teenagers-allegedly-murder-college-baseball-player-boredom-article-1.1431445

    AR 7.62x39

If you ever compared the trigger spring and hammer of an AK to an AR you will understand why you get light strikes with x39 ammo in the AR platform. 7.62x39 ammo primers can be fairly hard. You tend to have the same issues when you use some of the competition or aftermarket AK trigger springs. Feeding issues are due to mags not having the constant curve but rather the straight mag with a bend in the middle like Mike was saying. This is why they made the .300 blackout. Otherwise it's like converting a Ferrari to run on diesel or putting murders and a lift kit on a corvette. ;)

    New pup

I also have a black lab that breed with what appears to be a lab/pit mix and ended up with 9 pups! 3 brown, 1 grey, and the rest black. Most of the black ones look just like your except they are only a hair shy of 3 weeks. Bad news is momma developed sever mastitis that so far has ruptured in two places. We are currently bottle feeding the litter. 4 kids under 10 yrs old, 9 3wk old puppies being bottle feed, and a momma dog that I have to treat open wounds and give biotics to and keep lo-key. It's fun around my house!
  19. I'd there is a case here from the LEO, shouldn't he go after dispatch for not mediating the info better? Just saying, bigger pockets there. Makes as much sense as any thing else said here. ;)
  20. Most manufactures had at least one price increase and most had two across the board increases since January. Wasn't really noticed during the craziness, but it is now.
  21. He continually applauds the .357 and then equates the 9mm to the .380 throughout the entire blog. Defensive 9mm is nearly identical to a .357 (125g). Especially when you are looking at 124g +p and a standard 9mm is double the muzzle energy of a .380 in a heavier bullet.   I think he means well, but far to much conjecture and his observations are tainted by his preconceived notions and disagree with actual scientific studies.   Conclusion? same old song and dance that doesn't actually tell us anything.
  22. Funny how the "civil rights movement" is destroying the Civil Rights Movement one stupid comment at a time. :shake: I find it appalling, embarrassing, and sadly it completely negates everything about the Emmett Till murder. All in an sad attempt to make Trayvon Martin relevant to a cause that doesn't exist.   http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/05/oprah-trayvon-martin-emmett-till_n_3707096.html
  23. Uh, no. Even if they filled the contracts in one year, it would only equate to 3%-4% of total production. Those contracts are over a 5 year period to begin with and haven't even begun to be filled. It's not helping but the only reason there is a shortage is that the demand from regular consumers is that high. I know it's hard to believe but there really are that many people buying that much ammo. If you just look at the shear number of NICS checks you will start to understand. Multiply that number exponentially with ammo consumption and there is your shortage. Manufacturers make ammo on schedules based on yearly projections. When those orders are increased dramatically overnight it takes them nearly a year to fully cycle production numbers up to meet demand. Even if the manufacturers started new lines it would take them the better part of a year to get a production tooling up and running. Then you have to train new employees to run tooling. It's not like making burgers at McDonald's.   I'm told Kel-Tec doesn't even have the time to train new workers or they'd fall farther behind. Truly interesting times in the gun world.
  24. WalMart must feel same way even if there isn't a kickback involved. One TGOer lost his job reselling ammo he bought with employee discount. - OS Ruger rep said 14 managers were fired for buying stock and reselling it. Wouldn't surprise me. That being said the great thing about capitalism is that it will eventually self regulate. The swing will be in our favor at some point. Kinda like how AR's are starting to bottom out. Don't know where the bottom will be but it will be LOW. There will also be a thinning of the massive amount of startup middlemen.
