  1. Evidently you just can't make some people happy. It was a crap shoot and everyone knew it. Crying about it is just silly. What happened online is no different than what happens at any retailer who offers that good of a deal whether online or in person. At least you got to stay in your underwear fighting the crowd at the cyber door, instead of getting trampled in the cold ;-)
  2. They are the epitome of big and blocky, but they handle really well and have one of the best factory triggers I've felt in any gun. Not the best trigger, but a really good trigger, especially when you figure how much it cost.
  3. Seemed to work for a lot of cops and detectives for a loooong time, still does for a lot of people. Better options? Maybe, but do I really need a 4x4 for that rare occasion, or will the 4 cylinder compact do for 99.9% off the driving most people do. Me thinks some people over think.
  4. I have one on my 308 and it is a great piece of glass at twice that price. Only "negative" is that the eye relief is long. I had to mount it pretty far forward. Never had that "problem"before. Most of the time I was aggravated by the short and finicky eye relief of most scopes I've used.

    New AR308!

It's an Ergo F93. It was Magpuls prototype of what would become the UBR. Magpul sold the design to Ergo. No storage, but I've never stored anything in any stock if had.
  6. Uh no. .45 is low pressure. It has the same muzzle energy as a 9mm but with lower pressure. You'd more likely get a problem from a 9mm. Of choose that's all mute if you are being sarcastic, which you probably are. [emoji6]
  7. Yeah well, they don't have a problem selling their stuff, even above MSRP on almost all of their product line.

    New AR308!

The one in the picture is the primary arms 1-6 for the 7.62x39 I had laying around. It now has a Bushnell AR 4.5-18x40 BDC.

    New AR308!

It was pretty easy, AR15 easy for the most part and I've put a few of those together. Only issues I had were that the takedown pins were incredibly tight. I had to basically polish the finish off the front pin and hammer it in a few time before it was useable. Works fine now that it's worn a bit.  The barrel was also pretty tight setting it in the receiver but I'd rather it be tighter than looser like some of the AR's I've seen. A little CLP on the extension and it went in with some effort. BCG is a PSA so I'm still a bit uneasy about how that will work, but dry firing and working the action it seems to be GTG. Still waiting on the right gas tube and adjustable gas block before I can shoot it. The Larue APEG grip had to be fit a bit since it was made to fill the gap most receivers leave. Aero accommodated for that gap. I got the 308 version without taking into account Aero's forethought. A standard APEG grip would have been fine.. LOVE the     Biggest issues I've had were getting the right buffer spring/buffer combo and the right gas tube, but that has more to do with learning and info than the receiver.    What issues did you have?
  10. I shall now forever call them shnurgigglies! My youngest son just picked up a beginner Honer in Branson and I will make sure he knows the proper nomenclature. ;)
  11. I almost could recognize you! Triple threat Micheal Duechette: Steel Guitar, Harmonica, and dancing?    In all seriousness that was some fantastic harp playing!
  12. So, I'm about ready to fire up my new AR308 (DPMS) pattern and curious what ammo you guys recommend to dial in the adjustable gas block. I figure a fairly low power load to set the low end? Barrel is 16" DPMS pattern but Armalite carbine gas length (12 1/16"), Kies adjustable gas block. Plan is to fire one round in the mag (gas off) till it functions and locks back the BHO. Then open it just slightly more. Any suggestions?
  13. If it was organgish wood, it is most likely a Mak90. Chu woods is fairly light and has a grain that looks kinda like a cross between bamboo and pine. Blonde or dark brown and it is probably a Bulgarian SLR

    New AR308!

Haha, but looks are only skin deep. Like AK's, this has soul!

    New AR308!

I've played with that one and the RRA are nice. One thing I did find out about the 308 AR platform, is that there are a lot of proprietary parts that aren't cross compatible. I believe, RRA are all propriety parts, even the barrel nut is unique to the RRA.

    New AR308!

So many if you know I'm dedicated to the AK and have little care for AR's, but I was wanting a 308 platform and nothing in the AK world got me too excited. Came across an Aero M5 receiver set and so started assembling an AR in 308. Since its not really an AR, I could justify it. [emoji6] Anyway here it is. Ambush Tactical fluted barrel 16", Larue grip, knock off brake, Ergo F93 stock, PSA BCG. Still waiting on a proper length gas tube and the UTG rail is quite impressive. I know the UTG name doesn't instill confidence, but options are slim on the 308 and this thing is fantastic. Especially for the price.
  17. I just put one of their 308 barrels and gas blocks on a build and it looks like good stuff. I talked to them over the phone about a few questions I had and they were very helpful. Primary Arms is also carrying their stuff and they usually stand behind what they sell.
  18. If you get that problem out of other mags, the cheapest way to fix it is a new mag catch. Then you can fit it right. You may just have a mag catch that is worn down too much or on the short side. Tapco lugs tend to be thick.
  19. I've wanted one of these for a long time. Just can't justify the money since I'm not actually hacking cars or people in the sands of the middle east.
  20. Yeah,  it's kinda normal. If you look inside, the release has to slide past the tension of the blade, so there will be some "grit" before it releases. Should smooth out with some play. Also, on mine I rotated the release button till I found a smoother engagement spot and it made it better. Just take the tension off a bit and you can spin the release button.
  21. I've been carrying it today and it is fantastic. Lightweight for being such a large knife. I tend to carry on my left side (I'm right handed) and would prefer the clip to be on the other side but then that would cover the logo. Makes it kinda awkward to pull it out and then turn it around to get to the button. If you carry it on the right side and are right handed it should be fine. It would be pretty cool to have some extra panels to change the look and protect the TGO panels.
  22. My mags worked after I filed the rear tab profile down a bit to fit the mag catch better. The underside of the tab was just too thick. Luckily there was a lot of material there too work with.
  23. You didn't read my post in context.   Life is hard and taking the easy way out is not always what is best for those around us. Often times it is in the struggles we go through that not only shape us but those around us. This argument is not a new one. By your logic the Germans and the eugenist were right and many of the people of the world should have been eradicated for their own benefit. The struggles of the poor could be cured by encouraging them to end their suffering.       The struggle this women and whatever she encounters, is so far less that what many children in third world countries live with every day. Do we encourage them to take their lives because it's just too hard? What about all the teenagers struggling to deal with life as all teenagers do. Do we lift this banner up and say suffering is too much. It is better to not live with suffering than to see what the future holds? Now, her situation is a bit different in details but it is the same principle and what I addressed in my first post.   Again, I have no problem with her decision. I have a problem with the celebration of a cowardly selfish choice and then publicising it to find acceptance for what she knows to be such. If it were not selfish then she would have asked her family what they wanted and let them make a decision without her input. She made a decision for herself and there is little that can change that reality. Just because both choices are difficult doesn't make them courageous. The decision for a soldier to flee in battle is a difficult one, but I won't celebrate him just because it was a hard decision to abandon his fellow soldiers.
  24. This is one of those pictures don't do it justice. It truly is a very, very nice knife.
