  1. Ah, the smartest dumb people are at it again. Proof yet again that degrees and title's men less nothing. To borrow a thought from the "Princess Bride" - "I do not think that means what you think it means." ;)
  2. This solves all the problems I've been having during my combat situations. Well, except for my tactical vest getting dirty when I dive and roll while yelling "Contact!" in my backyard.
  3. Of course not, the Glock he was press checking did. Just further proves how dangerous Glock's or any polymer semi-auto is  ... if you ask him.;)
  4. What about the two guys filming and refereeing to get it started then jump in with indignation when "he" crossed the line. Just so many things upside down in that video to even be able to rationally analyze a right or wrong.
  5. I can attest from more than a few first-hand accounts that this is in fact, not a myth. Given certain circumstances, the sound of a shotgun racking is a very effective deterrent. Not so much in an immediate attack scenario but in an escalating situation it works more times than not.   But yes, having worked in a gun store for some years .... there are many MANY popular myths out there.
  6. I think someone's about to find out how many guns someone actually has ;-)

    9mm AR?

Well I ended up getting a Spikes mag block and the upper and bolt from Tactical Ambush. I've had good experience with their 308 barrel and parts so I figured I'd give them another shot. Plus their bolt is ramped and the NiB price was pretty decent. I'll let you know how it runs when everything gets here.

    9mm AR?

Yeah, that's what has me a bit cautious as well. Non ramped and standard hammer aren't compatible, from what I've read.

    9mm AR?

Well, from what I can gather it is plug and play like any other AR upper. The only real issues is when you want to use Glock mags and then you have to have a special lower to get the angle right, a special bolt carrier to clear the mag, and a special hammer that works with the above. Does anyone know if there is any difference in mag brands? I can find c-products for under $14 and colt/modified Uzi mags for up to $45+. I don't count the Promags ;-) Do the PSA mag adapters have a lrbho?

    9mm AR?

So I have a lower sitting around and PSA's AR9 looks interesting and got me thinking. However, I know nothing about 9mm AR's. I've seen the dedicated Glock lowers, but don't really care about that aspect. I'm really just looking for something to shoot my 9mm ammo through that keeps the AR flexibility for the future. Really liked the Uzi I had but that's another beast. So, school me on what I need to know. Are all 9mm AR uppers the same? Standard AR uppers OK, or is there a reason to get the dedicated 9mm upper? What's the deal with notched hammers? Do the adapter blocks work? Does ammo choice make difference? Barrel length? Mag options? Probably staying pistol configuration, thinking 10"? Not worried about suppressor's.
  11. Not sure how you get all that. The parts are sourced from Colt and made under license from Colt. It is essentially the Colt version of the M&P Sport. I've read nothing negative about them as guns. Only negative seems to be the Colt purist who have no experience with it.

    New AR308!

It is. It has quickly become my favorite stock.
  13. I know right! I might have ended up with a bunch![emoji6] In all seriousness, I had sold some and was planning on replacing a few. Just didn't think it would be all at once.
  14. Yeah, I fell into it.[emoji10] I had started an AR308 and while I was looking for parts I found so many good deals, I just couldn't pass them up. Went from all AK's to adding a 308, 6.8, 5.56, and an extra complete lower. I don't even like AR's, but I figured they aren't getting any cheaper! All running Bushnell AR223 scopes and Larue APEG grips. Got two of the Delaware lowers for $30! 5.56 BRO lower, Mega upper with Adams piston kit. 6.8 SPCii on Delaware lower ($30!), RRA heavy barrel. 308 Aero m5 receivers

    New AR308!

We'll changed the stock around to save some weight, but here it is finished. Now, I have to go shoot the thing and dial in the gas block.
  16. Look at CDNN. They are selling some Colts and Bushmaster's for about the best prices I've seen. http://www.cdnninvestments.com
  17. Then you're golden! Sam Hoster would do an excellent job for you. http://legallyarmed.com/complete.htm
  18. I'd be prepared to be even more patient. Evidently the internet guys were very busy industry wide. Mix that with the fact that those folks have family and time off mixed in and the shipping delays due to closings ... it may take a minute to get those orders processed, shipped, and to your door.
  19. That's because ammonia will neutralize the salt, but it won't remove it unless you use enough to actually wash it out. That is why it's a good idea to wash out the salt with soapy water even after Windex. You may have not neutralized all the salt. Btw - not all Windex has ammonia in it. ;-)
  20. I wouldn't do that with an m&p10. It's a thin barrel and there isn't enough material to thread. That's why the factory barrel flares at the end for the fh. Also the m&p uses a proprietary barrel so if it gets messed up, you're out of luck.
  21. Evidently, PRI is closing out their ribbed/waffle version mags and coming out with a gen 2(?). You can get the old waffle ones relatively cheap right now. On the 6.8 forums folks really like the ASC mags. I also picked up some D&H mags really cheap at PSA and they work well. Heavy but good none the less.
  22. Being that I loathe the 5.56, I've had several 6.8's going all the way back to the Kotonics days. Ended up selling them because I didn't reload and SSA was they only ammo maker and they were always out. You can't go wrong with the Bison or ARP barrels and bolts. I just built another one since you can actually get factory ammo and they have figured out how to make mags work. I have yet to find anything negative about 6.8.
  23.   You got to be kidding me! I was pretty happy with the $99 deal.
  24. Lots of guys with 6.8's use them as low cost alternatives to the PRI's and I've yet to hear a bad thing about them. Seen to be very reliable. I would assume the standard 5.56 versions would be the same.
