    XD9 range report

+1 on XDTalk.com. Search for DGR (Don's guide rod) cost $25 @ pitolgear.com. It is a stainless steel guide rod replacement with wolf spring that replaces the captive setup. It allows you to change spring rates. Very good setup, plus it looks a whole lot better... IMO.
  2. As a fellow Pastor and "bible believing, gun totting, conservative", I say...... well done!
  3. Or you could just use 9mm +p or +p+ and get the same ballistic effects at a lower cost. course then you couldn't impress people with the .357 sig name. Seriously, I would love a .357 sig or .45, I just can't afford ammo..... I like to shoot a lot! Great review BTW. I love side by side comparisons. Great job!
  4. I use the Allen bag i got at Walmart for $20. It has a gun rug in it and all I added was a i-SHOT mag carrier from Pistolgear.com for $12. I also use the plastic ammo boxes, because they fit better in the bag. The Allen bag has all the pockets and compartments that i need to keep everything separate and organized. IMO the "Pro" range bags are grossly overpriced. Sure you get neat logos and status (mall ninja!?), but I can sew a logo on if it's that important to me.
  5. .270 for all purpose hunting round. Can do almost anything. I have 7.62x39, 5.56, and .270
  6. Here is a revolver for Rabbi and any other wheel gun guy out there. http://www.securityarms.com/20010315/galleryfiles/0400/461.htm
  7. I would say a nice 6.8 SPC upper for my AR. A nice 1911, maybe the Taurus one (due to budget) and if money was no object a HS .338 Lapua or a Barrett .50
  8. Hey, that's were I got mine!

It works much like the A2 but also functions as a decent brake.

    Newest Toy

Here is my latest toy and first AR build. Essential Arms lower and Del-Ton 16" upper, YHM Phantom FH, knock off Aimpoint, YHM flip up BUIS, ans CAA CP buttstock. A lot of fun to build and even more fun to shoot! All I need now is a 6.8 SPC upper and I'll be done......for now.
  11. How come i never have these days?
  12. The take down from Sig...... and i love that they weren't so stuck on themselves that they couldn't take the best of everything around and incorporate it in their own design. I love XD's.
  13. Good link above. mouseguns.com did a real good review on it. I own one and have shot it quite a bit. It is my daily carry when I need a deep concealment piece. It handles really well. Not real snappy, but I wouldn't want to shoot all day with it, though.
  14. Moron. That is not a responsible father. No he didn't break any laws and I think it is great to teach kids about guns, I even have a picture of my 4 yr. old daughter holding my AK. Kinda a like the Kansas church people who disrupt soldiers funerals. Sure freedom of speech and all (no law being broken) but every sensibility gets violated by morons like these.
  15. no I don't and i don't think anyone should. If you carry concealed then why would you. If you OC then what difference does it make. In my mind it's like flashing big wads of cash. you're just asking for trouble. IMO
  16. Essential Arms lower and 16" Del-Ton upper w/ Phantom flash hider, CAA CB Buttstock, Aimpoint knock-off, and YHM BUIS,.
  17. Might I add, that if you are going to "target" shoot a lot, I would opt for the 9mm. A whole lot more shooting for the money over .40 or .45
  18. Really subjective question, but I have an XD9 Service (full size carry) and a Kel-Tec PF9 (deep concealment). i guess it really depends on what exactly you want out of your gun.
  19. why can't they issue or make something like the Zems for our troops. I use them all the time and they work great. I can hear regular conversation and they still buffer dangerous noise. http://www.sensgard.com/web/2005/10/products.aspx

    kel tek pf-9mm

Actually nickel plated for $25. It has gone up $5, but still a good deal. http://www.gunsmith.fuselier.com/slideoffer.html
  21. Just curious, as I'm not military or LEO, how do our troops not loose their hearing in all those CQC situations and still maintain com? Surely they use some hearing protection, but I can't find any pictures or info on it. Just curious since I remember when i first went shooting on my own and fired off about 300 rnds without protection and my ears rang for days.
  22. Guns and Leather will do you right. They have some DPMS AR's that can be had even cheaper (in the $650 range, last I remember). Good place to start.
  23. Use it all the time in my AR and not had a problem yet. I also use it in my AK with no problems (of course!) As said before the blue box is Barnaul (Cheaper, good stuff) the Green Box is Yugoslavian stuff and a little more expensive. In my experience it is not anymore dirtier than WWB.

    kel tek pf-9mm

Have one and love it. Had a P11 and the trigger was just ....bad. The trigger on the PF9 is considerably better. Long, but smooth and crisp. It conceals well and will handle +p & +p+ (although not for extensive range use). The newest generation is out now and has all the improvements that were needed on previous models. Got mine plated for $25 by Jack Fuselier, who does it as a favor to Kel-Tec owners. I would add that it is snappier than my XD, but it sits low enough in my hand not to be all that noticable. Nothing like a .40 compared to a 9mm. IMO Compared to a XD9 service.
  25. I started with a Hi-power cocked and locked (removed mag disconnect) and found that it was very easy and natural to deactivate the safety. However, I currently carry a 4" XD and a Kel-Tec PF9. I guess , given a choice, I would say no manual safety.
