  1. Maybe you can throw up that picture again Rabbi!
  2. My instructor said that if you touch it you better be pulling it (that is, being justified). He cited "brandishing" and "menacing threat" as very subjective rulings. No problem showing it though. Just be careful and err on the side of safer than sorry IMO.
  3. I have the XD9 Service and it is truly a great platform. I am longing for the day I can get the SC.

    Sig P-250

I was reading an article that said using the same internals you can switch between 9mm, .357 SIG, .40, and .45 with a simple barrel change. Everything but .45 I can understand, but it does look interesting.
  5. As a downtown business owner, the best way to deal with them is make eye contact and as quickly as they start speaking, just shake your head and authoritatively say no! don't even listen, because what ever story they give you is probably one they have used for years. If they persist tell them you are calling the police for aggressive panhandling (It has always been prohibited. The new ordinance will certainly help).
  6. I've always used a Hydrapak or Camelback with a little storage space. If the weight is on me it doesn't change the balance of the bike like adding 2 lbs in the frame does. If you are in anyway somewhat of a serious biker, that will make a huge difference in the handling - especially at speed or at steep angles. Plus speed of draw is not going to be that great on a bike no matter where you have it, so off body is really not that much of an issue. Plus if it's on the bike it will not be close at all if you dismount. a big +100 for bibs! They are the ticket. Then you can wear whatever shirt or short combo (or none) you want. Comfort can't be beat with bibs. I wrecked that way before myself. Luckily it was descending a pretty technical, low speed switchback at a steep angle. It does hurt. Glad it was nothing more serious. Hope you feel better soon.
  7. Not a chance of Paul either. I don't vote 3rd party or democrat, no matter how they try to hide. BTW I spent 15 yrs. in Memphis and was there in the middle of the Herenton assent to the "throne", even if it was by the dead vote and most corrupt political system in the South. He will remain because Memphis is that ignorant, as a whole. Learn to love it, or move to Southaven.
  8. I got McCain narrowly over Hucabee and there ain't noway that's happening.
  9. Well, I'm done breaking in the new Hi-Power and let me say it is nice. Shoots very well, when I do my part. That's the problem. I consistently shoot about half (first few) my shots low/left. Then I get dead on target with a few drifting laterally left (not very much though). I never have any go to the right side of the target - ever. According to the training target, I'm tightening my fingers or jerking/slapping the trigger. I've tried to be as methodical and technical as I can, but I'm just not correcting the problem very well. Any training suggestions? I know part of it is going between my sweet XD with Springer trigger, to the unrefined longer and harder HP trigger. However, I do have this same problem with my XD, although it is not nearly as noticeable.

    Upper advice for AR

I have a Del-Ton upper and it is great! they accidentally sent a bolt and carrier with it as well, and told me to just keep it. So I got the whole thing for $380. Blackthorne is Vulcan, is Hesse, is crap. Do a search and you will not find many pleased customers with and of the afore mentioned incarnations of Hesse.
  11. Definitely go with a Savage bolt action in any common caliber (.308, .270, 30-30). You'll get the most bang for your buck and can get them under $400 new with a scope and sling. One of the most accurate OTB you can get.
  12. Optics - Aimpoint or EOTech.
  13. Show off your family of guns!
  14. I'd have to pick from the two I have: XD9 Service or FN Hi-Power in .357 SIG.
  15. Rabbi does indeed have probably what you want. However, If you want to handle a few different models with varying degrees of bells and whistles (not to mention price points!) go to Guns and Leather and try before you buy. BTW - there isn't much to building one of these. I did it, just to try it, a few month's ago and was surprised at the ease and simplicity of the whole thing. You will end up spending about the same as a pre-built, but with a loss of satisfaction in knowing you built it.

    Charles Daly

Rock Island, Charles Daly (1911's other models made elsewhere), Armscor, and I think other's are all made by the same factory in the Philippines.

    Building new AR15

lowers are pretty much all the same. Get the cheapest one and spend on the upper. That being said Del-ton.com is a great source for well priced good uppers. I got mine from them and it is an excellent build. Only cost $395 http://www.del-ton.com/AR_15_Barrel_Assembly_p/dt1007.htm
  18. Here's a good source for ammo. http://www.centerfiresystems.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=344
  19. I have a K&D Dakota Defender for my XD (nice! loooong wait) as well as a C-TAC (had to break out the Dremel to get it comfortable), XD gear (never use) and a Don Hume JIT for the occasional OWB. For the recently purchased Hi-Power, I am temporarily using a Galco Yaqui. I have a Rafters Elephant skin/Alligator band OWB on order. Similar to this with a darker alligator band. My K&D Dakota Defender
  20. Pretty much any of the Saiga's are going to be fine.
  21. On some of the cheaper builds, they don't take time to make the front sight pin grooves exactly level. When you a look down the barrel the front sight post will look like it's leaning, usually to the left (from the reciever end).
  22. WASR's are a crap shot on quality. A lot of canted sight issues, soft recievers, ect. Most quality issues have to do with who built them. Other than that, the Saiga is top of the line in quality. It is a true Russian AK, by far the best of the breed.
  23. I have a ctac for my xd and it works great. I'd still go with the Minatour for comfort. If you notice, even the Crossbreads have a leather backing as propriatory now. So that must mean something.
  24. I'm looking at those screw post and thinking, "Ouch". If it is a daily or long term carry rig, I'm poning up the extra $20. Or you could get a Dakota Defender from K&D leather for $10 bucks less and have a truly comfortable, handmade rig. Here's mine
  25. This won't answer your question but here my thoughts: 1. Kel-Tec - because if it's not right, you can send it back as many times as it takes to get it right...but trigger pull leaves a lot to be desired. However they are incredibly easy to workon and won't necessarily void the warranty. 2. Taurus becasue the trigger is much better than the KT and looks better, IMO, but if it's not right, it's a crap shoot with customer service and if it breaks - well??????
