  1. Either of those work well as a brake, but will do nothing with flash. The '74 is hard to beat but it rather big and heavy but I like them. My favorite is the Manticore Nightbrake, works phenomenally well. I also really like the CNC Warrior Nightbrake. Works well as a brake and a flash hider. Here is a little comparison I did on a few I had laying around. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/79716-ak-brake-comparison-very-unscientific/?hl=%2Bmuzzle+%2Bcomparison Here are some:  http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2012/12/chris-dumm/ak-muzzle-device-test-part-1-recoil-reduction/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuzoiLKAFwA AR but gives you an idea about some that are similar to the AK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FD-Rou9-9A
  2. Nice gun! You're gonna like the 9mm platform.
  3. Yeah, I just came across a PJK-9HP (Hi-Power clone) and had to pick it up. It was my first handgun back when the bug bit me for the first time and was wanting to pick up another one for sentimental reasons. Great clones. Didn't have a clue about guns then and was fortunate to land a good one to start with.
  4. Try Troy Sellars at In Range. Very busy guy for a reason http://www.inrangec2.com
  5. Not to hash it again, but no one has EVER even been charged with 922r compliance (after importation) as it is unenforceable and a misapplication of import restrictions to the original importer - not a continuation after importation. In other words don't sweat it. It's actually kinda hard not to have enough US parts to satisfy those that think 922r necessary    BTW - John, I have the threading parts if you want to borrow them or if you are in the Nashville area I can help you with the project.
  6. Milled is heavier and more likely to crack. Milled receivers were more desirable due to their collector value, since not as many were made. That being said, there is no practical reason to spend more on a milled receiver, unless it is for collecting. Add to that it is harder to find parts and furniture for milled receivers than a standard AK. The Pioneer Arms Aim is selling is about the best deal out there, bang for your buck.

    Mas AK's!

A couple new ones to share. After getting down to too few AK's, finally getting built back up. Yugo N-Pap that came with the black plastic thumbhole stock. Got a good deal on this and then picked up some m70 handguards and a m76 stock. Trimmed off the nub of the stock and then Tru-oiled the furniture. Gonna leave this one pretty traditional. Pioneer Arms Polish AK. Cheaper than a WASR and built much better. Added an Ace stock I had and a TWS top cover with a Lucid red dot. Really happy with the Manticore Arms Alpha rail.
  8. You can do it yourself for a little less than paying a smith. Get a kit from http://www.cncwarrior.com/category-s/1933.htm You will need to cut the shroud off the end of the barrel. They are usually already threaded under the shroud. Just be sure not to cut too deep.
  9. It may just be the worst most distasteful publicity stunt ever. Who would have known Amy Schumer had a movie, much less the shooting took place during that movie. Only link I can she, other than cousin Chuck.
  10. Rivets flex with the receiver. Screws don't flex, so the holes will eventually egg out or the screws will break. Either way, not good. It's too easy to do rivets now with tools from Toth or this guy robertforbus.com
  11. Evidently they are big time competition guns in Europe and Australia. I've heard really good things about them.
  12. Hey, Tad! You were next on my list of "insiders" I was going to ask. Looks like I will have to let Sam take a crack at it.
  13. So I got a nice walnut stock and handguard for my engraved Rossi 92 from Precision Gun Works. Let's just say the stock was very rough and not as close a fit as I had hoped. Finally got it to work, but the handguard is way off. PGWs owner is not helpful to put it politely. Any one know someone who can fit the handguards for me? Beyond my told and abilities.
  14. Maybe why Jimmy Olsen had the blues.
  15. Best place I know with a good reputation http://762tactical.com/
  16. No, it's just the luck of the draw. I did have to call a couple times to get someone who would work with me.
  17. If you bark enough you can get around sending the gun in. I had a Rossi M92 that I needed a new HG band and they wanted the whole gun. I barked enough and made my case about transfer fees etc. And they finally just sent me the parts. Good side is their warranty actually works and they will take care of it. It's not the fastest but it is a LOT faster since they moved everything to FL.
  18. Oooh! I love just about every knife you make.

    AK Cookoff

Barrel droop is actually accounted for in the design. Shoot, it's actually part of the harmonic design the long barrels like the PSL/Dragaunov were built around. US designers try to eliminate barrel droop, but the Russians actual account for it calling it barrel whip. Moving in the trunnion is not a result of barrel whip.

    AK Cookoff

Eh, anomaly. For a barrel to shift like that is not normal. Years of hard use on millions around the world has proven the barrel won't pull out of the front trunnion like that if it is done half way right. I would learn towards something very unusual.
  21. Eh, I'll wait for the steel reinforced mags. AK's and poly mags tend to not be good pairings no matter how good the polymer is. Rear lugs break to easy. Fine for range mags but go easy on them.
  22. Yeah, got mine last week. Very nice. If I weren't in the middle of a move and my guns all out of place, I'd have them installed and shooting already!
  23. Nobody beats the Trivago guy! Can't even figure out what he's pitching because I spend the whole time wondering why in the world they thought this guy and his look were TV commercial quality. Is he young? Is he old? Is he old trying to be young? Is he a grown up from the Seattle grunge scene? Did he just get up? What's going on here?
