  1. are you serious? "we the people" have control through consumer demand and making sure government stays out of our lives and let us go after what we need, ala ANWAR. Any other control is called communism.
  2. Look at these, very expensive! don't know anything about them though. http://www.gunsinternational.com/results.cfm?cid=10
  3. Nice! BTW where's the other thread? I was kinda hoping for a little more Rabbi rap.
  4. I think that the same lack of sex was the joke! BTW after looking at your avatar, I might see a correlation.
  5. Aw dang! You mods are taking all the good threads! Now how will I gratuitously bump my post count? PS - so there's no confusion I am joking...... sort of!
  6. Just got down reading a lot of the threads. Mainly on THR.com Doesn't look good. Sad he is a nice guy IMO.
  7. I too didn't think anything was out of line or mean spirited on those particular issues. shoot i got more grief about my opinion on people calling cops "pigs" than I saw else where. I don't take offense from anyone over my opinions and I'm sorry that others have on other topics. To say that more important things need to be discussed than ones beliefs seem a little contradictory to me, as that is the nature of this forum. To pick and choose which beliefs are relevant seems awkward at best. All my beliefs are intertwined. No gripe though. You did what you thought was best and so shall it be. I really enjoy every discussion that I've been involved in.

Try the Bible. It is pretty straight forward. "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the father but through me.", "If you confess with you're mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.", "for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord, shall be saved." And as far a drinking and smoking, I've searched and can't find those scriptures about their damnation. In fact Paul told the Corinthians they needed to start drinking and having sex (marriage). So there you go and tell them a Preacher told you that! I think this has turned into the bump your post count here thread!
  9. It's the old Arminiast vs. Calvinist debate. I tend to fall in the middle. God is in control and man has free will. I've never seen this argument "won", but it is interesting and since it's been going on for over 400 hundred years.... me thinks it will continue.
  10. This is a great idea! It can't fail! This is about as bad as Arlen Spector crying foul over "Spygate".

"Religion" is inherently by it's nature judgmental. That's not a bad thing. It sets standards and doesn't equivocate. The question is what is your basis? Personal interpretation or God's truth? I think to often when folks aren't sure they guess and lock in....usually this is a bad base line. As i often say, most Christians know just enough Bible to be dangerous. And I don't mean that in a good way!
  12. Not to be nit picky but you're mixing Bilbe with tradition. God is indeed three in one and yes Satan can go into heaven (not as a resident) as he is in dominion over this earth. He is not bound in "hell" or ghenna yet. That is why in Revelation God destroys both Heaven and Earth and creates a new Heaven and Earth. I know this is very simplistic and thin, but i don't have 10 pages to dedicate to the topic. Musicman it is indeed tough to wrestle with these things. As a pastor I think everyone needs to wrestle with these things in order to allow God to lead them through to the truth. Jacob had to wrestle with the angel before he got the blessing. Wrestling/debating is a good thing if you are truly seeking truth. I lost my 2nd child in a similar way and it was indeed very difficult. but what I had to come to is the realization is that perception is not always reality. Maybe my child would have been healthy, more than likely not and that is why it didn't not live. As i wrestled with it through that Friday night and Saturday, I couldn't get many answers. Sunday rolled around I found myself waiting to preach when the thought cam to me that the first time I would see that child would be in eternity. I had thought that life in this world was the best but God knew that child needed to start life with him. Why do bad things happen to good people? The theoretical answer is that according to the scriptures, as born sinners we "deserve" nothing good. Only death. So anything good that happens to us is God's grace. With that in mind do experience more of God's goodness or more of his justice? I think if we look objectively we would say we are blessed far more than we are "punished". does that make it easier when it happens, probably not, but such is life. I can't make people believe as I do and don't believe I have to. I will simply tell and let truth fall where it may. As far as you're friends, just be there and let them grieve. Paul prayed three times for God to remove his "thorn" and gods answered, "I won't remove the "thorn", but i will give you the grace to endure." May your friends be granted the grace to endure.

Just a couple of thoughts. 1. I know the diplomatic stance is to say everyone and everything is ok as long as it doesn't get "pushed", but i think that is just weak. I believe what I believe because I think it is right/truth. I spend a lot of time trying to make sure I'm right. Why, because that is my responsibility to myself and society. Equivocating on points is just cowardly and ignorant in a definitive. Just a theoretical thought. 2. I do believe that Homosexuality can be "genetic" or "born". However, i don't think that absolves choice. I have a lot of "natural" tendencies, doesn't mean i don't have a choice. Just because i "born" with a nature towards alcoholism doesn't mean I have to be an alcoholic. "I can't help it I was born this way." Just doesn't wash for homosexuals, alcoholics, drug abusers pedophiles, etc. Just my .02
  15. While it is "independent" their licensing agreement gives them complete control over almost every aspect of production. Springfield controls the specs ultimately, that is why the new XDm came into production.
  16. I starting to think McCain will win. Although it's "better" than the alternative, I'm not so sure it's a good thing for conservatives. In fact I think he will do more to harm the GOP than Obama. Obama would be a blessing in disguise (because American's will flock to get off that boat), but McCain would continue to put holes in the slow sinking GOP boat. If not this cycle, sooner or later it is inevitable that an Obama/Billary figure will rise......and drastically fall, bringing the entire economy with it. Then the GOP will get off their lazy tails and get back to the fundamentals (think Reagan) and resuscitate the US. The question is how much and to what extent the damage will be.
  17. The XD was originally imported as the HS2000 and was indeed made in Croatia for their police and military. Springfield pretty much got absolute control over the HS and renamed it and marketed it as the XD in 2002. They are still made in Croatia and imported by Springfield. I like it because it means it is cheaper! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Springfield_Armory_XD
  18. Good point, but technically it's not a finish (not trying to be a jerk). Tennifer/melonite is a great treatment and I'm glad it is now available outside the factory. Glocks, XDs, M&Ps, Walther P99s, and I'm sure others use it. I've had a Hi-Power GunKoted and it was very good. However, I think my new Hi-power I'll get Melonited with a gloss slide and matte frame when the blue wears down.
  19. I was born in '78 and while I don't remember the events first hand my history is pretty good. At least I hope, It was my major. Politics has a history of these dynamic swings. When sides are too similar for too long you tend to get a polarizing event. I think eventually, if not this election cycle, that an Obama/Carter figure will emerge. For some reason human nature has to sample the depths of stupidity to be reminded why we do the sensible thing.
  20. Boy, I sure hope so. The only negative (IMO) with XD's is the lack of after market DIY parts. The trigger bar and sear are one of the very few to help the XD overcome this road block.
  21. I was speaking in a more general sense than on that specific instance. However, I have known families who have battled for a lifetime to vindicate themselves from false allegations. The damage to the their children, who now live in fear (not of their family BTW) is abuse of a much larger proportion. I do agree that abuse should not be tolerated. I wish we still lived in a time where ordinary citizens didn't allow that kind of stuff to happen.
