  1. Except for Academy Sports. The Monarch brand is either Serbian or Russian and dirtty but still good stuff and you can't beat the price.
  2. It was new. He has a slightly used 2nd Gen that was less, but I opted for the fun of breaking in a new gun. gives me an excuse to go to the range more!
  3. Clearly yes, It was just one knock against the XD which they seem to be resolving. As of now, i can get almost any internal part for the XD. If only Glock would listen to the market and make some updates. Of course I'm guessing with their sales figures, the voices for improvement are fairly quiet.
  4. On the trigger. I can't imagine anyone leaving either stock as they are both leave a lot to be desired, but when you do trigger work (under $50) I've found the XD much more positive than the Glock. Especially on initial break. Parts - Not so much true anymore. There are several websites that are offering XD parts now. Evidently Springfield has seen the light and quit listening to the lawyers.
  5. Long time XD fan/owner who just got my first GLOCK for a variety of reasons. So let me share my opinion on the two. To be fair the 19 is a compact where as the XD is not, so keep that in mind, but the XD doesn't offer a mid size/compact in 9mm at the moment. I wish they did. 1. Size - goes to the 19. It is considerably smaller both in muzzle length and grip length without sacrificing much in the way of versatility or usability. 2. Capacity - goes to the XD. 17 rnds vs. 15 rnds. However keep in mind the 19 has a shorter grip (better for carry), so to me is a good trade off. If I really need those extra 2 rnds, I'm in it deep anyway and more mags are propably more important anyway. 3. Trigger - i know it's subjective, but I go with the XD. With both having trigger adjustments: 19 Ghost 3.5 lb. connector - XD Powder River Safety lever - the XD's reset and break are much better IMO. The 19 is not "bad" by any means just different and the XD's is more like a traditional single action trigger to me. 4. Safeties - XD. I "feel" a lot more comfortable with the XD's numerous safeties. The visible striker, loaded indicator, and grip safety are great additions to me. While the 19 has similar features (excluding grip safety and visible striker), the XD's are more positive and clear. 5. Weight - Glock hands down. Don't know actual weight, I'm not that anal, but using "feel" and manufactures numbers - the 19 wins easily. Conclusion? The 19 fit my carry needs better than the fullsize XD, but I like the XD's features better. Not so much that it is a big deal, but given my druthers I'd like a Glock/XD hybrid! I also find the availabilty of parts and accessories, which also are some what cheaper, is a plus as well. I haven't got a chance to range test the 19 like i have the XD, but I will let you know when I do. these are just my initial impressions.
  6. Hmm, sound to good to be true........ just saying, I'd go for it it, but I'd also be carrying just in case.
  7. Yeah I saw a Hi-Point on Golsn appear to go for $500!
  8. I'm no expert either but I don't think the 17 is rare or becoming rare in the next 100 years. Maybe they are thinking about the GLOCK 7. Now that is a rare collector's item!
  9. Yeah, I was. Always get those two confused, especially since they did import them for awhile.
  10. I am now drinking the GLOCK 19 koolaid. Picked it up from East Side today. I finally gave into parts availability, light weight, size, and accessories. there are still guns I like better, but I find myself going more utilitarian and practical these days. That being said, I still wish I had that HiPower back! Enjoy Magiccarpetrides! and in case anyone ask, not my pic but looks the same.
  11. Yup they are importers. The bring in some nice stuff. The Tangfolio's are nice and they bring in the Saiga's.

i find nyquil works great in these situations.
  13. haha! yeah, they do. he said they only get called out about 12 times a year.
  14. My brother-in-law is the sniper for Collierville SWAT and he is using a Rem 700 in .308. They went for training at the Olive Security facility in Nesbit, MS.
  15. For IWB you will need pants a size larger. Some need more, but that is the deal with IWB. You will find that however you carry, you will have to pay attention to your clothing. Some things will work and other things won't. Just like a holster you will have to try a lot of different options till you find what works for you. Whatever you decide you will need a good gun belt. It will make a huge differnce in how a holster fits.
  16. Or carry your firearm IN your Bible! No seriously carry and practice with both..... a lot. Either one, not practiced enough can be dangerous.
  17. They are the same. FN makes them both. The difference is you have to pay extra to have Browning on the slide.
  18. Nothing wrong with it. Just some guys need to compensate by having everything else in their lives the biggest they can get. Last I checked , stops by 9mm are almost identical to .45 etc. Ball ammo is the differrence. In that case the .50 GI is the best.
  19. In 9mm some +p/+p+ gives .357 Sig performance. That is about the only advantage if that matters.
  20. +p is a hotter load than regular pressured ammo. +p+ is a higher pressure (hotter) than +p. It will give you more velocity than the normal load. There are benefits and negatives as to these loads. I'm sure there are other who can give you more detailed scientific data on the differences.

From what I understand only if you drop it!

Made by the same place. The Eotech has a few more bells and whistles, mainly the hood.
  23. I want a Walther P99 9mm in black that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and mags that are reasonable in price as well. Sure seem to be hard to find. I'd also like to find one of the elusive FNP9 SAO. I could also go for a FNP striker fired design.
  24. I keep hearing about these, but don't know anyone who's actually seen one. I would get one in a heartbeat if I could find it.
