  1. and where does this money come from? Either we borrow it from the treasury (+ inflation, +deficit, etc) or we sell t-bills to China.Either way is bad, plus if they gave out that money they would just take it to get it back. If they borrow it they will tax us to get it back, even though they never had it in the first place.
  2. "if the vandals are students, they could be expelled"?
  3. As far as optics, you would be hard pressed to find anything better than the Kobra on an AK. Plus they were made for the AK. http://www.tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/bstkobra.html
  4. Personally, I think the better tact is to make the case that we need HCPs for the same reason an Officer needs to carry in "off limit" places. To be ready to defend oneself against unknown circumstances and adversaries. Are officers judgment going to be impaired just by their location? Then neither is a law abiding HCP holder.
  5. Chasing rabbits, but for the sake of brevity: continuous wall street record highs since Reagan, home ownership has continually risen (current situation aside) since Reagan, more small business than ever before since Reagan, unemployment continually hit record lows since Reagan. Almost all economic markers have hit and maintained record highs since the implementation of Reagonomics despite different Presidencies and congressional classes. It is obvious you will give no political success any merit and your cynicism is understandable, but the fact remains that even a broken political system can still use universal truths to success despite the politicians best efforts. BTW - don't read my tone as antagonistic. I am a historian by degree and tend to look at things through that prism. Present hardships often cloud our view of the big picture. Much like the fear mongoring and gas "shortage" are going to give us false results down the road.
  6. I don't know about today, but several of the guys wives are having babies...... oops wrong thread!
  7. Yes, to both but if you need night sights on a rifle there are bigger and more expensive accessories you need! A much cheaper alternative is these. http://www.redstararms.com/
  8. How do you figure? It was Republican opposition with a lot of democratic support that killed it?
  9. Other than the fact it did/does work.
  10. and that is the point. It started with Carter's CRA and through to Bush II. It spanned all those congressional classes as well. 700 billion won't fix the inability of congress to turn down power and money. This is not a corporate problem or a Presidential issue. It is congress that opened the door, made the laws, controlled oversight, granted permission, rejected reform, and now claims to have the solution. I don't care so much about blame, but if you don't identify the problem you can't fix it. Immediate fix is deregulation of the lending sector to free the capital that is tied up, insure the loans, suspend capital gains, etc (current problem) and long term is term limits. As I've said before, these guys are there so long they get incredibly efficient at working the "game" to their benefit. Corporations only have the power they have because the man behind the curtain (congress) grants it. as I said before congress uses big corp as a cash cow. By using regulation and legislation they are able to squeeze out "unfavorable" competition ensuring their donors get richer to make them richer. Is this one party issue? No it is a system issue. Anyone in the system is susceptible. Do Presidents? Sure, but because they are time limited so is their long term damage. Being angry at corp Am. is like getting mad at the 150 lb 10 yr old for being fat. The 500 lb. parent is the real issue!

I think Tungsten was toying with the idea and there is a thread around here where that was discussed. I think Pink was the color of choice in that thread:eek:. IIRC, adhesion is the biggest problem on polymer.
  12. I also don't recall that being directed in that way. I can see your ability to read threads goes hand in hand with your balanced view of this issue. I'm not convincing anyone. It is purely informative. Maybe you should go back to your "reality" of Call of Duty 4!
  13. Yeah that really bugs me as well. I called in a car (unmarked, no number. Used license plate) who ran up on the back of me so fast I could see the whites of his eyes. After I didn't move over, he whipped in a narrow gap between me and the car I was passing in the other lane and speed off weaving in and out of traffic down I-24. The station said well, he was probably on a call. I responded (as nicely as I could) that was crap and explained why. They told me unmarked cars usually were not assigned, so there was no way to follow up on it. The lady was nice and understood, but wasn't a whole lot she could do. I even followed him (it was by my house) to the station. It was quiting time. Now this is an extreme example, but really annoyed me to say the least. He was actually dangerous. Technically the only vehicles that can disregard street postings are the USPS! But I doubt that is a very good policy either. Common sense is what is often left out of legislation.
  14. You are correct. There are two bad laws in force there. It is unreasonable to expect LE, in uniform or out, to be on "duty" 24/7 and then restrict certain tools of the trade in certain places. It is likewise unreasonable to expect HCP holders to lower their self defense standards in certain places. I don't expect either party to suddenly become incapable of good judgment due to their location.
  15. The opposition will call it , but here is a video for those who don't want to read. [ame] [/ame]
  16. I did debate the Maxpedition bag for this purpose.
  17. The difficulty is you can't prove or disprove a negative. In other words you can't assume an armed persons confrontation with an intruder would have led to a one sided aggressive/deadly encounter. Most gun owners encounters are uneventful (we argue due to being armed) and so never become a statistic. Most of gun owner stats come from the places where gun ownership is restricted and violent crime rises in parallel stats.
  18. I love the Zem headset. You can hear (pretty good at least) casual conversation and they deaden to 32db. Plus they are affordable. Buy them here. http://www.pistolgear.com/products.php?id=31 Here is their website. http://www.sensgard.com/
  19. They are an excellent choice. You will find many go there for their HCP class, as I did. I highly recommend them.
  20. Had the same question and heres what I got. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2632&highlight=combat+hearing+loss
  21. http://tsfiles.wordpress.com/2008/09/21/bush-called-for-reform-of-fannie-mae-freddie-mac-17-times-in-2008-alone/ Here's a pretty concise one.
  22. You do know that corporations predominately support Dems, right? or do the talking points "feel" better to you. BTW Bush urged congress to fix the mortgage problem since he has been in office. On 22 separate occasion going back to 2002, he requested reform for this particular buisness section in teh economy. Anger is fine when it is placed appropriatley. This is a congressioal problem. They wanted these loans made, they made the regualtion, they had comlete oversight, they blew it. This is not a Presidential issue.
  23. It's real simple. Almost anyplace that teaches HCP classes will also do armed guard. Most of them attend the same class as most of the requirements overlap. The shooting requirements are a little more stringent and there is a little more paperwork.
