Got one of their cheap Daily Deals Freedom stainless midlength uppers for my kids to shoot. Originally put Magpul MOE handguard on it. Later I decided to use an extra UTG Pro Slim free float handguard I had laying around. To my surprise, when I went to torque the barrel nut off, I got aggravated trying to get the barrel nut wrench to engage. Found out the barrel nut was not even hand tight and was spinning freely. I know it can happen top any builder (except RRA rockset nuts), but you may want to check your uppers. That could have been bad.[emoji15]

One word ... Dropbox. Most of the others simply backup, but Dropbox backups and allows you to access your files, pictures, music etc, like a remote desktop. Your can also link all your computers and phones and decide what gets backed up. The benefit of this, is that it's like having all my files not only backed up on line but also on all my other devices. Redundancy is great. I've made all my computer folders linked to my Dropbox and can't lose anything. Doesn't gum up internet speeds either. Can't say enough good about it. I can also send links to people for them to access specific files, if I want them to.

The side piece works kinda like a leaf spring that holds a plunger in place. The adjustment screw has 15 positions that you can adjust through the front. Makes it real easy. Also, since the plunger doesn't come into contact with the gas, it doesn't get fouled up.

Same problem I ran into with the Kies. The SLR is worth it. It'll also save you the hassle of trying to find the right buffer spring/buffer weight.
-
Get the SLR adjustable gas block. Makes a HUGE difference. I went the cheap adjustable gas block first (Kies) and ended up finally getting the SLR. Worth it.

Big fan of the TFO's. I never had any trouble out of mine on multiple guns, but I too heard all the stories. Glad they addressed the issue anyway.

Thoughts? Star Model B vs Hi Power
Smith replied to MrBrian's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
This. Also, the HP is legendary and even the FM, FEG, and other clones tend to be very good. Parts, accessories, and mags also are far easier to find for the HP as well. IMO, there's not really an apples to apples comparison between the two. -
Yep. Push the delta ring back pop out the old handguards, drop in the new ones. No messing with the barrel nut, and I can tell you after messing with a problematic barrel nut this afternoon, a drop in is a GREAT idea.

Evidently he did. Gunsmoke is owned by someone named Rodriguez. Rich was the CEO. It does smell a little fishy, but at the same time that guy reeked of smarmy used car salesman. The way he used his wife and stepdaughter was a bit exploitative to say the least.

I personally think you would be better off getting a Magpul Slim or regular MOE handguard. You won't have to take anything off, it won't weigh a ton, and you can still mount rails if you want them. Like this.

Seems odd to have standard handguard with lo-pro gas block. That being said, the UTG Pro Slim is hard to best for the price.

Taurus 85 bobbed hammer and changed the springs out in it. Works really well. Usually carry it in a kydex OWB (Raven Style). Hard to beat

NO, because it is not the same. It's the buzzword for 308 AR's like Glock is the buzzword for the media when referring to any handgun.:;) If you go looking for parts and search for AR10 but really mean 308 AR (DPMS Pattern) you will end up more confused and spend money on parts you won't be able to use. I can't tell you how much trouble I had trying to get the right gas tube length, not to mention the other confusion I ran into using "AR10" as a generic catch-all term. I built up an Aero (DPMS) pattern 308 AR and really liked it. I spent far more than necessary building it because parts that were supposed to work didn't cooperate with other parts. I am seriously considering one of the G2 DPMS. Handles like a AR15. Again, parts are proprietary. I also am intrigued by the 308 Nextgen by AR15Performance.com http://www.ar15performance.com/308___260_nextgen_uppers The Aero's are the way to go if you build one up IMO. They cooperate pretty well with DPMS pattern parts. However, their takedown pins are proprietary, slightly smaller than "normal". The PSA's had quite a few problems when they originally came out. I think they have those cleared up, but something to be mindful of. Get a current version and it should be OK. I think they use a proprietary barrel nut as well.
-
Should also add, AR10 is an Armalite only. What your are talking about is a 308 AR, I presume. It's actually an important distinction, because Armalite AR10 parts are fairly proprietary.
-
No, well not necessarily. You'll find that even parts that usually are comparable don't always work. Your are better off buying a complete gun. For instance, while PSA uses the DPMS pattern, DPMS pattern parts don't always fit or work. That's pretty true across the board. While their are two base platforms there is no standard like the AR 15. That being said, if your are going to build, pick a platform and stick to it. Bolts, carriers, barrels, barrel extensions, barrel nuts, buffers, buffer tubes, receiver takedown pins, gas tube length, gas block, upper/lower receivers fitment, and handguards can all be somewhat "proprietary" between manufactures. Check out 308ar.com

YOu have to be careful with sears on Hi-Powers. The trigger mechanism is a fairly tight/specific fit. It is very easy to wind of up with a dangerous firing situation. Take the mag safety out. It will be like performing a trigger job in terms of weight and smoothness of trigger pull. I also highly recommend one of the C&S Combat Triggers.

At one point when the car that finally turned him got to the front, you could hear a call on the radio asking for anyone who was certified to do a pit maneuver to come to the front to help. I assume the grey cruiser was the first one who could legally do a pit maneuver. I was wondering why the car who had the camera did lay down a spike strip on that narrow road and end it there.

Been through them all and nothing rides closer, more comfortable, or gets better than the Garrity Silent Thunder STX 2.0. It's one of those that from pictures doesn't seem all that great, but when you get it on the hipster is far and away better than anything else. Do a search, I reviewed one. http://www.giholsters.com/silent-thunder-stx-2-0/

Anxiously waiting!

Generally, if the price goes much over $100 it is due to the name/logo stamped on the side. If you get above the $140 mark, it usually indicates you are getting into a billet machined lower.
-
Most of them come from the same forging companies as there is only a few of them. That being said the final machining can make a difference. However, as long as it is from a reputable company, you really can't get a bad lower. The "better" lowers are ones that have better finishes or extra features. Most of the basic, cheaper lowers will be mil-spec, which is the most basic requirements for manufacture. A bad lower will have trigger pin holes or takedown pin holes that are mis-sized or not entirely lined up. There can also be some mag well dimension issues with bad lowers.

I have the same question. I've had sseveral PPQ's (M1's) and I don't think there is a better factory trigger out there or better ergonomic pistol available. I like them even better than the M&P's with APEX triggers. The HK looks and feels a lot like the PPQ, but I can't justify switching ATM. I just don't see any positive trade off yet.

Why would anyone buy x39 one box at a time?[emoji2]

Works well, as I have used a lot of it. Very good stuff

It's also rumored that the Vityaz is in country and either will be made here or some made it through import before BO's EO. ?
