  1. I personally think you would be better off getting a Magpul Slim or regular MOE handguard. You won't have to take anything off, it won't weigh a ton, and you can still mount rails if you want them. Like this.
  2. Seems odd to have standard handguard with lo-pro gas block. That being said, the UTG Pro Slim is hard to best for the price.
  3. Taurus 85 bobbed hammer and changed the springs out in it. Works really well. Usually carry it in a kydex OWB (Raven Style). Hard to beat
  4.   NO, because it is not the same. It's the buzzword for 308 AR's like Glock is the buzzword for the media when referring to any handgun.:;) If you go looking for parts and search for AR10 but really mean 308 AR (DPMS Pattern) you will end up more confused and spend money on parts you won't be able to use. I can't tell you how much trouble I had trying to get the right gas tube length, not to mention the other confusion I ran into using "AR10" as a generic catch-all term.    I built up an Aero (DPMS) pattern 308 AR and really liked it. I spent far more than necessary building it because parts that were supposed to work didn't cooperate with other parts.   I am  seriously considering one of the G2 DPMS. Handles like a AR15. Again, parts are proprietary. I also am intrigued by the 308 Nextgen by AR15Performance.com http://www.ar15performance.com/308___260_nextgen_uppers   The Aero's are the way to go if you build one up IMO. They cooperate pretty well with DPMS pattern parts. However, their takedown pins are proprietary, slightly smaller than "normal".   The PSA's had quite a few problems when they originally came out. I think they have those cleared up, but something to be mindful of. Get a current version and it should be OK. I think they use a proprietary barrel nut as well.
  5. Should also add, AR10 is an Armalite only. What your are talking about is a 308 AR, I presume. It's actually an important distinction, because Armalite AR10 parts are fairly proprietary.
  6. No, well not necessarily. You'll find that even parts that usually are comparable don't always work. Your are better off buying a complete gun. For instance, while PSA uses the DPMS pattern, DPMS pattern parts don't always fit or work. That's pretty true across the board. While their are two base platforms there is no standard like the AR 15. That being said, if your are going to build, pick a platform and stick to it. Bolts, carriers, barrels, barrel extensions, barrel nuts, buffers, buffer tubes, receiver takedown pins, gas tube length, gas block, upper/lower receivers fitment, and handguards can all be somewhat "proprietary" between manufactures. Check out 308ar.com
  7. YOu have to be careful with sears on Hi-Powers. The trigger mechanism is a fairly tight/specific fit. It is very easy to wind of up with a dangerous firing situation.    Take the mag safety out. It will be like performing a trigger job in terms of weight and smoothness of trigger pull. I also highly recommend one of the C&S Combat Triggers.
  8. At one point when the car that finally turned him got to the front, you could hear a call on the radio asking for anyone who was certified to do a pit maneuver to come to the front to help. I assume the grey cruiser was the first one who could legally do a pit maneuver.   I was wondering why the car who had the camera did lay down a spike strip on that narrow road and end it there.
  9. Been through them all and nothing rides closer, more comfortable, or gets better than the Garrity Silent Thunder STX 2.0. It's one of those that from pictures doesn't seem all that great, but when you get it on the hipster is far and away better than anything else. Do a search, I reviewed one. http://www.giholsters.com/silent-thunder-stx-2-0/

    AR Lowers

Generally, if the price goes much over $100 it is due to the name/logo stamped on the side. If you get above the $140 mark, it usually indicates you are getting into a billet machined lower.

    AR Lowers

Most of them come from the same forging companies as there is only a few of them. That being said the final machining can make a difference. However, as long as it is from a reputable company, you really can't get a bad lower. The "better" lowers are ones that have better finishes or extra features. Most of the basic, cheaper lowers will be mil-spec, which is the most basic requirements for manufacture.   A bad lower will have trigger pin holes or takedown pin holes that are mis-sized or not entirely lined up. There can also be some mag well dimension issues with bad lowers.
  12. I have the same question. I've had sseveral PPQ's (M1's) and I don't think there is a better factory trigger out there or better ergonomic pistol available. I like them even better than the M&P's with APEX triggers. The HK looks and feels a lot like the PPQ, but I can't justify switching ATM. I just don't see any positive trade off yet.
  13. Why would anyone buy x39 one box at a time?[emoji2]
  14. Works well, as I have used a lot of it. Very good stuff
  15. It's also rumored that the Vityaz is in country and either will be made here or some made it through import before BO's EO. ?
  16. If you are going to get a mag block get the Hahn or the Spikes/AMM blocks. After TONS of research these come out on top over and over again.
  17. I like the stoeger better overall, but for a truck gun the SD9 would be better. Mainly because of the stainless slide, barrel and internals. Mags are easy to come by as well.
  18. Equal capacity, recoil, manual of arms as AR15. Better ballistics at 300m and in as AR. Gets really good ballistics over 300m and really starts to shine over 500m. Hits similar to .308 at distance but shoots much flatter. Simple barrel, mag, and bolt swap.
  19. Brent, when I was thinking about the Grendel I ended up going with the 6.8. The lack of info, production, standardization, etc. was just too much for me.  I really like the Grendel but figured I would probably never shoot past 300m and for under that the 6.8 is a bit better. I have shot a 6.5 and really liked it. Good luck getting this put together.
  20. Building an AK is fairly easy IF you have the jigs and tools to do it right. In the video, with the exception of the finish tanks, all those tools can be had fairly easily. Cost wise unless you build quite a few AK's from blanks, I've never been able to justify the extra cost. Even with a pre-folded and heat treated receiver, it's easier and even or cheaper to buy it built.    I would like to one day take Rifle Dynamics build class. For $1,900 you get to go out to their facility and build up a true AK from scratch. Not bad considering the cost covers the instruction/guidance, parts, and tools.   It should also be noted building an AK from scratch is akin to building and AR from a blank or 80%. I'd prefer to tackle the AK than the AR.
  21. Good read. I agree the EO's are little more (technically and legally) than memo's. The real danger is the populace being confused in the process of the power of the POTUS. If the EO's are rejected on all levels, not much changes. If the EO's are validated in any form, then the real storm will hit down the road and what a storm it will be.    I personally believe this is the real strategy. Obama doesn't get caught up in the battle. Liberals are focused on the was. Create doubt and confusion about the process and eventually there is no process. This is always how dictators, fascists, liberals, and communist have taken power. It is in the chaos that lies thrive.
  22. I went with simply safe just to try out and couldn't be happier. When I compare the cost, I don't know why anyone would pay so much more.
  23. You done good Cartel!
