Help me choose budget-friendly optics
Smith replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Right now psa has the Burris AR PCL at a ridiculous price. I have three and they are great at double the price. http://palmettostatearmory.com/bushnell-ar-optics-1-4x-24mm-throw-down-pcl-ar91424i.html -
You paint with a broad brush, and theologically incorrectly one at that, Christians to make a point that Christians should not paint Muslims with a broad brush. Interesting. How did Christians get brought into this anyway? There was no mention of that in the OP.

Except the base tenants of Old and New Testament teachings completely disagree with you. The Bible teaches to give to Caesar what it's Caesar's, to submit to the governing authorities, regardless of who they are while maintaining your faith, and to live at peace with everyone if possible. Diametrically at odds with the base tenants of Islam. Your apologist morally equivalency is more than just a little wrong.

Haha, I miss these discussions! In all seriousness, I started with the AR's because they got dirt cheap for a while and they are easy for the kids to handle. Made them all their own and a .22 for cheap shooting. Works great for those purposes.

Yeah, efficiency and simplicity are usually hard for AR guys to figure out. [emoji6] Keep trying RW. You'll make it eventually. Haha
-
Haha, you should read her website. It all comes together there. ;)

I used this when I first started, thorough and very helpful. https://www.ar15.com/content/guides/assembly/lower/

Here's an update on the second upper I got. Identical to the first but PSA must have read this post, because the barrel nut on this one was very tight!
-
The really only "bad" AK is an American made one. That is usually because the barrel bore is over or undersized based on American calibers, bad heat treating, or bad riveting. Typically, the smaller the operation the bigger the likelihood of a screw up. Ironically, American AKs tend to have a hard time specing correctly. I believe that has to do with the difference in manufacturing cost of the former Soviet Union and the U.S.

You better believe it! Started going through the gun cabinet and realized I had far more than I thought. A few extra parts here, a few extra recievers there and this is what happens. BTW this is from a past life. I no longer possess any of these. [emoji6] The AK variants: L to R: Yugo PAP, Polish, Saiga 12, PSA Reciever/Barrel, Yugo M92, WASR AR'S etc. L to R: Dedicated .22 (kids gun), LW/PDW gun needs optic, 11 yr old daughters AR, Adams piston on Black Rain billet upper and lower, Aero 308, ARP barrel 6.8, Ruger 10/22

You need to chek your info. The polish imports that IO brought in were made in Poland in the city of Radom, but not the famed military circle 10 Radom factory. That being said, the imports are very good guns. Anything else IO makes you are correct. Their "Polish" blueprint guns made all in America are terrible.

My new custom blade by Gran Torino

Great knife. I'd like to have a sheath like that to go with some of mine. -
I really like my Rossi m92 in .357 mag. Ballistically, a 30-30 under 300 yrds in a lighter bullet and you can lighten it up with .38 special for small game. I also like the idea of the 336 but feel like I can get more versatility with the M92. In semi auto, a Yugo M92 is hard to beat. Cheap available ammo and is very compact.
-
That's a good one. AK's shoot any and all ammo. The vast majority of it is steel cased, like it's meant to be [emoji6].

For most of my life I've had the same sentiment. At age two, I had what was then a rare incurable disease. I was the first child in the U.S. to survive. They have since found a vaccine. Then most of the men in my family, healthy and strong, tended to die in their mid 30's from what we have discovered is a genetic aneurysm. Both my older brother and younger sister recently had open heart surgery to correct. Both college athletes, healthy and young. All that to say, I always figured my time was short and what I have is a gift. I figured I had one choice - make the most of what I've been given. Now, I could YOLO damn the consequences and go out in a blaze of glory or YOLO and make it count. I have found that great men are remembered by what they leave behind. Ordinary men and their deeds are soon forgotten. My prayer is that I'm remembered. Gordon, live well my friend.

Find you a WASR. Great base gun for what you are looking for. Otherwise, you are spending too much.
-
Understand that you have already contacted BRD. There is no turning back and that's ok. You will wake up one morning with bins full of extra AR parts that will necessitate building more varieties of AR's. Just accept the reality and embrace it. ?

My BIL had always shot right handed and was a decent shot. When he went to the police academy they tried him out lefty on a hunch. Ended up being SWAT DM left handed! He doesnt do anything left handed but shooting handgun and long guns.

There are instructions on the Windows website on how to roll it back to Windows 7. However, if you keep it, I would suggest getting a program called startisback. Makes the start menu and directories function and look like Windows 7. Well worth it to me.
-
Technically an enclosed motorcycle with a rollcage and convenience and features of a car. Oh, and 85 mpg and new cost $6,800.
-
+1, but there aren't any Superbolts at the moment as there is a patent debacle holding things up. Not ARP‘s fault but it is theirs and our headache. If you can find, one grab it.
-
also, can't use polymer 5.56 mags. They will bulge, break and fail.
-
This. LWRC calls their hybrid SIX8. Uses proprietary bolt, upper, lower, and mags. Whole different animal. Good animal, but different. Check out 68 forums. ARP and the other leaders in 6.8 post there frequently and keep everyone up to date with trends.
-
Yep, it's my go-to hunting rifle. Never liked the 5.56. The 6.8 is about as good as it gets in the AR platform, everything else had too many compromises, range, barrel length, load variables, etc. I got into it back when Ko-tonics was just figuring things out. At this point, there is no more wildcat mystery left in the 6.8. Plenty of parts, ammo has really come down, and market support is excellent.
