  1. The playing is just amazing. I'm just blown away when i hear guys like that play. the sounds the get out of those things is incredible. As a guitar player I'm watching their fingers and wondering how they are making their guitars do what they are doing. I'm also reminded why most of us picked up a guitar in the first place. They make even the ugliest, nerdiest, loser of a guy look way cool!
  2. If you load your own bullets you may get the ideal mix of AR/AK. The accuracy issues (which aren't that big of a deal BTW) with the x39 is mostly due to bullet design. There just aren't a lot of match x39 bullets out there. It is certainly a capable concept, but I would just prefer going with the 6.8 in an AR and x39 with an AK. I think it has more upside. Either way you got a great setup and a weapon that will do what you want. enjoy.
  3. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has done that! did it on my first build. didn't forget to put the stopper in just didn't get the buffer tube on it enough. I actually did it twice in a row!
  4. Restaurants do have to post the sign along with warning pregnant women not to drink, cancer warnings, etc. Most of them are outdated, but it is what the Health Dept. looks for. They don't care if they are right or not as long as the super ego Health Inspector doesn't knock their score for it. BTW most health scores have very little to do with health and more to do with making the state money.
  5. It was working just fine when it was mine! Maybe you should give it back and I will test it for you.... might take me a few years or until you forget about it! +1 on the Saiga IMO.
  6. The curve is necessary to feed properly, just look at the AK mags. There is a reason behind the Russian madness! I never understood an x39 AR, but I'm glad you like it. I personally really like the round myself, just in the AK platform.
  7. Ya know when I was deciding between the M&P and the SR9, I wish you guys had been around! I might have gone with the SR9. That being said, I'm not a huge fan of the .45 but I might if it were in the SR package. From what I'm told the SR already has a tendency for the muzzle to push rather than flip so I could see the .45 matching very well to the design characteristics of the SR platform. That with the nice ergos, it just may be the plastic 1911 everyone seems to be after.
  8. These get posted all the time and usually the same stuff. Yes the government has "camps" and we did actually use them for the Germans and Japanese during WWII. However, most of the sensationalism of the conspiracy nuts jump to is out of line. Could they be used for nefarious purposes? Sure, but camps could be put up in no time if they really wanted to. As far as the prison system being gulags or concentration camps... come on. The reason we have so many prisoners is it is a better home for a lot of them. Watch "Lock Up Raw" sometime and they will even admit it. People in gulags and concentration cmaps don't usually last very long.
  9. I was in the same boat twice and went with Del-Ton. I couldn't find anyone who could beat their price (or service for that matter) when comparing apples to apples.
  10. Well, the way the academy is it is all or nothing. I have to reapply and get scheduled again for another session. They had a guy in Session 58 who was 3 weeks from graduation and missed 3 days in the hospital with food poisoning. The 3 days happened to be range days and he couldn't make them up. Had to reapply and start all over. It's tough, but that's the way it is. Yeah I forgot about that thing!
  11. Wish I were. Some may remember my motorcycle wreck? Well, I had two surgeries and we thought it would be enough. About 3 weeks in I messed it up again and had surgery #3. Just got the stitches out about 3 weeks ago.

    Sig 232?

P230 quite being made in 1996 and the P232 is an "upgraded" version. Better ergos, technology, etc.
  13. If they are running bi monthly test it will go quicker if not.....
  14. I'm hoping this will finally put Texas, Oklahoma and the Big 12 in their proper perspective.
  15. Not with Metro. You will interview with a couple of retired detectives after the written/agility test but that is the last interaction you will have with PD staff. The rest are psych, health, psych, and psych again. It is completely different with other departments. I was hired on with Metro Park PD and even though they are under Metro it was completely different. I interviewed with them and then had the physical and one psych test. That was it. Went much faster!

    Sig 232?

So what's the story on the Sig 232? good, bad? My brother is about to get his HCP and has been offered a Sig 232 like new (never fired) for $400. From what I can tell the price is good, but what about the gun. Thanks.
  17. Yeah, i gotta admit I do too. They have great stuff and their website just sucks me in!
  18. The written test (civil service test) is scored like any school test 1-100% It is then assigned a number 1-5 based on that score. The agility test is timed and then assigned a number 1-5 based. They total the two and you are ranked 1-10. You have to score a combined of at least 6 to move on IIRC. It is the same thing as ranking GPA in high school. The boards/panel reviews are the last thing they will do before hiring and you will never see those people. They review the files and each person and thumb up/down the candidate. If everyone thumbs up your good, one down your out. All that after 12 mo.
  19. That's pretty awesome. I've always wondered why the "flying car" concept has never moved further. This may be the right track.
  20. You get ranked according to your score. So, yes, there is a little more expediency if you score higher but not much.
  21. Nah, 2-4 weeks to get scheduled for the test then then 9-12 mos. to get through the whole process.
  22. A few weeks. They usually run the test twice a month unless they are slowing the hiring in which case they test once a month. The whole process will take 12 mo. 9 if you get lucky (app to Academy start). I, by some mysterious means, got through in 4, but every one in HR looked at me funny when I said that.
  23. That was hilarious. I kept thinking I had seen the best one till I would see the next one. Absolutely hilarious!

    Gun pointing at shops

Yeah, I'm gonna go with over reacted. I remember the last time it happened to me and I simply said hey, watch that thing with a "stern" smile. Most folks just aren't thinking or didn't realize what they were doing. Either way not good, but I wouldn't make a big scene over it.
  25. When I attended session 59 there were quite a few guys over the age of 35. Sgt. Hickman even commented that in the last session they had a guy near 50 that was one of their best cadets. Of course he was a marathon runner before! There was another guy in his early 40's that lost 40 something lbs and was an excellent cadet as well. If you are really driven and everything else lines up it won't be that big of a deal.
