  1. Wish I were. Some may remember my motorcycle wreck? Well, I had two surgeries and we thought it would be enough. About 3 weeks in I messed it up again and had surgery #3. Just got the stitches out about 3 weeks ago.

    Sig 232?

P230 quite being made in 1996 and the P232 is an "upgraded" version. Better ergos, technology, etc.
  3. If they are running bi monthly test it will go quicker if not.....
  4. I'm hoping this will finally put Texas, Oklahoma and the Big 12 in their proper perspective.
  5. Not with Metro. You will interview with a couple of retired detectives after the written/agility test but that is the last interaction you will have with PD staff. The rest are psych, health, psych, and psych again. It is completely different with other departments. I was hired on with Metro Park PD and even though they are under Metro it was completely different. I interviewed with them and then had the physical and one psych test. That was it. Went much faster!

    Sig 232?

So what's the story on the Sig 232? good, bad? My brother is about to get his HCP and has been offered a Sig 232 like new (never fired) for $400. From what I can tell the price is good, but what about the gun. Thanks.
  7. Yeah, i gotta admit I do too. They have great stuff and their website just sucks me in!
  8. The written test (civil service test) is scored like any school test 1-100% It is then assigned a number 1-5 based on that score. The agility test is timed and then assigned a number 1-5 based. They total the two and you are ranked 1-10. You have to score a combined of at least 6 to move on IIRC. It is the same thing as ranking GPA in high school. The boards/panel reviews are the last thing they will do before hiring and you will never see those people. They review the files and each person and thumb up/down the candidate. If everyone thumbs up your good, one down your out. All that after 12 mo.
  9. That's pretty awesome. I've always wondered why the "flying car" concept has never moved further. This may be the right track.
  10. You get ranked according to your score. So, yes, there is a little more expediency if you score higher but not much.
  11. Nah, 2-4 weeks to get scheduled for the test then then 9-12 mos. to get through the whole process.
  12. A few weeks. They usually run the test twice a month unless they are slowing the hiring in which case they test once a month. The whole process will take 12 mo. 9 if you get lucky (app to Academy start). I, by some mysterious means, got through in 4, but every one in HR looked at me funny when I said that.
  13. That was hilarious. I kept thinking I had seen the best one till I would see the next one. Absolutely hilarious!

    Gun pointing at shops

Yeah, I'm gonna go with over reacted. I remember the last time it happened to me and I simply said hey, watch that thing with a "stern" smile. Most folks just aren't thinking or didn't realize what they were doing. Either way not good, but I wouldn't make a big scene over it.
  15. When I attended session 59 there were quite a few guys over the age of 35. Sgt. Hickman even commented that in the last session they had a guy near 50 that was one of their best cadets. Of course he was a marathon runner before! There was another guy in his early 40's that lost 40 something lbs and was an excellent cadet as well. If you are really driven and everything else lines up it won't be that big of a deal.
  16. so when is AIM going to start paying you? BTW i really like them as well!
  17. I'd say that is a great way to start the EBR collection! looking forward to the pics.
  18. You will find your quest a little difficult. 40 S&W is a compromise between 9 and .45 and the 1911 platform is designed best in one or the other. There aren't any real benefits to a .40 1911 over a 9mm or .45 1911.
  19. It's global warming, dontcha know. It's like nature's Chernobyl. Seriously though, I really wish I had been able to get out and see anything!

    Uselton Arms!

Yeah I referenced those in my e-mail.

    Uselton Arms!

I don't mind the ads it was when heard some callers asking where he got his Glock foty and he was mentioning Uselton. It's not a huge deal to me, just annoying more than anything. Yeah GFA runs later and Guns and Leather are running a lot of TV spots. I think it is absolutely great that the local guys are moving enough inventory to be able to purchase so many spots. I hope it keeps up!
  22. I don't know how many of you listen to FM 99.7 (5am to 9am) here in Nashville, but the host Ralph Bristol is a great guy. He recently got his first handgun (although not new to firearms) and permit and unfortunately went through Use-less-ton for it. He sounds like he is not all too familiar with local gun stores, but I absolutely hate hearing Uselton get any free advertising. I dropped him an e-mail with my feelings on the matter as well links to the great gun shops of middle TN as well as TGO. If you would like to do the same, his e-mail is Ralph@997WTN.com.
  23. Nah, there just easier see and to lump into a category. It's human nature to be egocentric no matter what group you identify with... or think you don't identify with.
  24. mine is set correctly and is still an hour behind real time.
