  1. My reading and understanding would put Olympic way down on the list. RRA, Bushmaster, DPMS are in my mind good quality rifles with very little difference. IMO the best bang for the buck is Del-Ton. You won't beat their price by building and get a about as much customization as you want for solid prices.
  2. Because if you ever so slightly swing your arm in anyones general direction it would be considered brandishing. According to most LE interpretation of the matter.
  3. I guess they didn't know one of the pro's of 9mm is it's ability to defeat body armor!? Of course that is if it's real.
  4. IMO an SBR'd AR is taking all of the worst features of the AR and degrading them more and upping your cost by $200.
  5. I haven't heard, but i have read that the MSAR is better due to the improvements they made. Shotgun News had a nice article on them in the last issue.
  6. BTW Steyr's AUG is going to be available again shortly.... maybe Steyr Mannlicher US:Â Steyrarms.com
  7. I've been thinking about this too and if I had the money I would go with the MSAR.
  8. I doubt it's real, but it sounds very realistic!
  9. Got this in an e-mail and thought it was kinda funny.
  10. No doubt. the stress in the chess game of rotating who we put off paying and making sure they got caught up was more than i realized.
  11. I've kinda got to where I like them...... my wife doesn't though!
  12. After a tough 4 years, I have finally done it! I'm debt free! Well, except for 60K left on the house. For anyone thinking of doing the Dave Ramsey plan, or a similar plan, I highly recommend it. Now I didn't follow it directly but none the less the principles are the same. A little background. I had accumulated roughly 60k in medical and life expenses over the last 12 years (school, 3 kids, moving, job changes, poor spending habits etc.). My wife and I set a goal of getting out of debt when we moved to Nashville 4 years ago within 4 years. We had some help along the way, but we made it. Now 11 months ago we were 40k short and didn't look like we could get anywhere close, but a motorcycle wreck turned into a blessing and helped us meet our goal. I don't suggest that route:screwy: but as the proverb says, "in his heart mans plans his path, but God directs his footsteps. This meant we had one vehicle for the last 9 years, I don't buy clothes (If you've met me I'm probably wearing one of 2 or 3 outfits I own), moved 13 times in 3 years, and scimped and saved every nickel, except for gun stuff which I called investments! Most of which I sold when we needed extra money. As of this week I owe no one! I have my 6.8 build nearly done, my Mossy 500 decked out, a Hi-power with all the frills, my Glock 19, mags and ammo, 2 nice paid for vehicles and will be adding 400 sq. ft on to our 758 sg ft. house and it was all done in cash! I don't say this to brag but to encourage others that it can be done. It is truly feeing to be in no mans servitude, as the scriptures say, "the borrower is slave to the lender". BTW - All this in a crappy economy and I have not made over 35k a year in the last 12 years. In fact I made considerably less. It's not how much you have, but what you do with it.
  13. also it is not recommended to shoot 5.56 in a .223 gun due to the pressure issues. However, you can safely shoot .223 in a 5.56 chambered gun. On most AR's the barrel will have the chamber stamped on it. Most will be 5.56.
  14. So far price difference is about $20 (VTAC more).
  15. Yeah, that's kinda what I'm looking for. I will probably use a bi-pod and a forward grip (not together) and a top rail for the scope mount and front sight. I do like the look of the VTAC better than the YHM but I don't know how solid they are. I've had the YHM stuff before and it's solid.
  16. by using the same logic, you shouldn't carry at all because it could be used against you in a self defense case. However if you are going to carry, your gun needs to be set up for best use. Not to preempt possible lawsuits.
  17. On most of the custom holster I have gotten, they will tell you they are really tight (almost unusable) at first. they do it on purpose to make sure you get a good fit. they then told me about the plastic bag trick. Worked like a charm after that and wearing a while. I just used walmart plastic bags.
  18. I'm getting my new 6.8 upper this week and I need some handguards. Let's face it, I'm not going to war (not yet at least:D) so I don't need something super fancy and I like a more comfortable smooth type forearm. I'm looking at something like the Viking Tactics VTAC or YHM customizable. I will probably only mount a grip and not much else, but I would like to be able to down the road if I got the itch. I'd also like a free float. My other thoughts are Troy's MRF/TRX or YHM Diamond series. Looking for specter length on a carbine system. Any suggestions or opinions?
  19. BEST - G&L, Goodletsville, The Nameless Shop, GFA, and Bellshires are all great here in Nashville. WORST - Gun City, Uselelton (although the mounts are awesome)
  20. Look, if you're not wearing a thigh rig - you aren't carrying!
  21. Used to and not very good at it. I think I like just being in the river and being a part of nature in such a peaceful and tranquil way. It is perhaps one of the most "spiritual" things I have done in my life. Of course I guess I could go stand in a river and not fish, but it just doesn't seem like it would be the same!
  22. case#, proof, legal ruling? or this another one of those interweb, I stayed at a motel, lawyer opinions? as has been stated numerous times, a good shoot is a good shoot. If it is as unclear as for the prosecutor to argue that kind of mess you, made other much larger mistakes and the trigger pull is the least of your worries.
  23. Yes it has been asked and debated ad nasum, but I think it is beneficial to see what the current trend is. I carry OWB 90% of the time ATM, but keep it covered (concealed). When I decide on a IWB holster and loose some weight I will be IWB concealed, especially in the summer.
  24. The Steyr sights use the same focal pickup as traditional 3 dot. The Advantage sights use a different principle than the Sure sights. The SS are unique and work..... if you can get them.
