  1. Maybe it's the picture or the angle, but it looks like the lines of the frame, slide, and barrel don't line up properly. The bore axis looks like it is half in the slide, half in the frame.
  2. I personally don't know why anyone would pick a 17 over a 19. The 19 is just about the perfect size gun for carry or concealability. The trade off of two more rounds and less than 1/2 in. in sight radius isn't enough to cover the larger size. That slightly larger size is just enough to make the 17 exponentially harder to conceal carry.
  3. Just received a vintage Savage 340 30-30! Here's what makes it special. This is my grandfather's rifle he used to put food on his family and neighbors families tables in the rural Ozark mountains of northern Arkansas. My grandfather died at the age of 28 from what is believed to be an aneurysm, not too long after returning from Korea. My dad was only 5 years old and this rifle was one of the few possessions my grandfather had that my father was able to keep through the years, house fires, and normal life issues. My grandfather purchased the rifle through the only general store in the little town they lived in, probably from a Belknap catalog. I do have the catalog as well! Probably purchased sometime in late 1950 or early 1951. Which is pretty cool as well since the 340 came out in 1950. Also have the original box of ammo that my grandfather had at the time of his death with 4 shells left in the box! Gun isn't a high value gun but it's priceless to me. To hold in my hands the tool the man I never got to meet, used to feed his family. The gun my father used to kill his prized mounted 10 pointer the day I was born ... It doesn't get any better than that.
  4. Many reasons why I really like the Garrett Industries Silent Thunder holsters. Kydex shell with a leather lining. [emoji6]
  5. The AKT with a JTE Power trigger spring from Carolina Shooters Supply is about as good as it gets.
  6. Not a problem. They also wash in daylight. Green will work, but still washes pretty bad.
  7. Yep, and it's circular. However, disagreeing on "principal" and then arguing in that same "principal" is what Gary Larson built The Far Side on. Carry on repressing free speech, in defense of free speech, using free speech. [emoji6]
  8. This whole thing is upside down. Free speech isn't free of consequences, EXCEPT by the government. In real life, what you say has consequence. Kaepernick is free to say whatever he wants and everyone else is free to say whatever they want in response. There is no defense for Kaepernick necessary nor should there be condemnation for those who speak against him. Lecturing those who disagree with Kaepernick about free speech etc. is the epitome of the pot calling the kettle black while the pot is filled with arrogant hypocrisy.
  9. Mainly because lasers are visible to everyone down range, expand size over range, are fairly unreliable, etc. Same reason putting a laser on a rifle is vastly inferior to an optic.
  10. I recently picked up a G19 MOS. Really like it for all the reasons mentioned before. Also, with the tall sights, you can work it either way. I'm running a Burris Fastfire III.
  11. I think you may be disappointed with that mount and optic. It sits everything a too high and the dust covers on the M92's aren't tight enough to really hold an optic. The weight of the SPARC will also shift the POI/POA on the factory dustcover. I highly recommend the TWS Dogleg or a gas tube mount like the SLR, or Ultimak with a micro-dot.
  12. Snap caps well solve your concern issues. A little more expensive but great alternative is something like the Laserlyte targeting system. It sounds expensive up front but factor in the cost off a couple range trips/ammo/etc. and it pays for itself pretty quickly. P plus you can have range time in your Lazy Boy! 13. Ghost elite 3.5lb connector with the TCT. You will have to file a little on the connector, but it's [emoji106]
  14. I've always found the Ghost connectors to be great upgrades. Never needed to next step up like the Zev, but I've heard good things. IMO the Ghost type connectors are perfect for EDC/range guns. If you are going into competition then you may want something more like the Zev's.
  15. I only have one Rossi M92 and a Rossi 85 .38 spl. But I love the idea of the versatile .357 platform. I want another lever action. Here's my favorite! My dad engraved it and I've since added custom walnut hg and stock. Did a trigger/action job on it. Smooth as butter!
  16. I'm not going to fight the Bermuda. With the neighbors and golf course, it's no use. I just want to get rid of the thick blade stuff.
  17. Can anyone help identify my lawn. It was neglected for many years, till we bought it last year. Overseeded with ky31 till I realized the Bermuda from the golf course across the street and neighbors yard would win. Overseers early summer with Bermuda. So, I know there is a very fine Bermuda, KY31 (fasing out), and some crabgrass. What day you experts? My goal is a nice Bermuda yard to match the golf course. Whatever the thicker stiff is, it grows thick and fast and it is all warm weather grass.
  18. But the chrome lined bore (or lack thereof) is offset by being cold hammer forged and excellent quality. The Zastava's are high quality excellently built guns. "Drawbacks" are the previously mentioned bore, propriety gas tube/HG/buttstock/top cover/piston. That being said, all those parts are easy to come by. It's just not a true AK/AKM.
  19. I'd like to see a mini!
  20. The Dupli-Color is great because it dries in 30 min. and is fully dries in an hour. Put on 3 light coats then put it in the oven at 300 for 30 min. let it cool then back in for 15. seemed to work fine. Essential I bake them till there is no more fume coming off the parts. I've used VHT and it works well, but I like the Dupli-Color better. VHT has to be heated right to cure. I've had it flake before. Most likely my fault, but the Dupli-Color is just easier to use.
  21. From what I've searched, if you clean the rust up good it should work fine. CLP and a wire brush work wonders. Its heat cured and made for engines so it should hold up fine to solvents and heat.
  22. It's Dupli-color "cast iron" hi temp engine enamel. Rattle canned it over the park and then cooked it in the oven.
  23. FYI - Interstate Arms (IAC)/H&R are virtually the same thing. IAC has better furniture and sight options. Here's what i did with my current IAC Hawk 982. Hogue 12" LOP stock, side saddle, Choate 870 +1 mag extension and 870 Choate HG. Altogether, ran me under $300.
  24. I've had several of the H&R's. They're arguably a better gun than the 870 (higher quality steel) and parts interchange. Barrels swap as well, with a little mod. I prefer them to the Remington's.
  25. This is what I have used on numerous guns including many Saiga's. http://www.cncwarrior.com/AK-47-14x1LH-Barrel-Threading-Kit-p/25145.htm Some Saiga's are already threaded under the hood. Just be careful not to cut too deep when removing the hood. Just take a Dremel with a cut off wheel and cut down into the hood right up against the fsb and it usually comes off pretty easy. Usually they are just tack welded in one or two spots. The paint makes it look like one piece. Also, some fsb are already drilled for the FH retaining pin. Take a punch and tap in the area it should be and usually the plug weld will start breaking loose under the paint. If not, it's not hard to drill the holes.
