  1. Can anyone help identify my lawn. It was neglected for many years, till we bought it last year. Overseeded with ky31 till I realized the Bermuda from the golf course across the street and neighbors yard would win. Overseers early summer with Bermuda. So, I know there is a very fine Bermuda, KY31 (fasing out), and some crabgrass. What day you experts? My goal is a nice Bermuda yard to match the golf course. Whatever the thicker stiff is, it grows thick and fast and it is all warm weather grass.
  2. But the chrome lined bore (or lack thereof) is offset by being cold hammer forged and excellent quality. The Zastava's are high quality excellently built guns. "Drawbacks" are the previously mentioned bore, propriety gas tube/HG/buttstock/top cover/piston. That being said, all those parts are easy to come by. It's just not a true AK/AKM.
  3. The Dupli-Color is great because it dries in 30 min. and is fully dries in an hour. Put on 3 light coats then put it in the oven at 300 for 30 min. let it cool then back in for 15. seemed to work fine. Essential I bake them till there is no more fume coming off the parts. I've used VHT and it works well, but I like the Dupli-Color better. VHT has to be heated right to cure. I've had it flake before. Most likely my fault, but the Dupli-Color is just easier to use.
  4. From what I've searched, if you clean the rust up good it should work fine. CLP and a wire brush work wonders. Its heat cured and made for engines so it should hold up fine to solvents and heat.
  5. It's Dupli-color "cast iron" hi temp engine enamel. Rattle canned it over the park and then cooked it in the oven.
  6. FYI - Interstate Arms (IAC)/H&R are virtually the same thing. IAC has better furniture and sight options. Here's what i did with my current IAC Hawk 982. Hogue 12" LOP stock, side saddle, Choate 870 +1 mag extension and 870 Choate HG. Altogether, ran me under $300.
  7. I've had several of the H&R's. They're arguably a better gun than the 870 (higher quality steel) and parts interchange. Barrels swap as well, with a little mod. I prefer them to the Remington's.
  8. This is what I have used on numerous guns including many Saiga's. http://www.cncwarrior.com/AK-47-14x1LH-Barrel-Threading-Kit-p/25145.htm Some Saiga's are already threaded under the hood. Just be careful not to cut too deep when removing the hood. Just take a Dremel with a cut off wheel and cut down into the hood right up against the fsb and it usually comes off pretty easy. Usually they are just tack welded in one or two spots. The paint makes it look like one piece. Also, some fsb are already drilled for the FH retaining pin. Take a punch and tap in the area it should be and usually the plug weld will start breaking loose under the paint. If not, it's not hard to drill the holes.
  9. Btw - everything you need to drill and tap the receiver you can get from CNC Warrior stay here. http://www.cncwarrior.com/category-s/1513.htm?searching=Y&sort=5&cat=1513&show=16&page=3
  10. This discussion is part of the problem IMO. Mixing two truths in an un truthful bowl. The militarization of the police is a problem, and needs top be discussed and fixed. The culture of no accountability or discipline in our communities is a problem and needs to be fixed. However, these two items are not directly linked or related. They do cross each other from time to time, but they are not direct cause and/ effects. The raw statistics prove that time and again. The problem is a media and leadership that has used the two problems by pitting them against each other. The beauty of the tactic is, since they aren't related, they can't be resolved together. That creates a chaotic and never ending pitting of grips against each other that can only escalate. The only winner will be the federal government who will gain more and more control and never solve anything.
  11. Here's an Arsenal Bulgarian. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=F1ASLR10431&name=Arsenal+Bulgarian+SLR-104FR+5.45x39+Rifle&groupid=5388
  12. Just drill and tap the rear receiver. Pretty much everything aftermarket uses that pattern anyway.
  13. What I like best are Hi-powers. It's what the 1911 was supposed to be![emoji6] That being said, I alternate carry a 1911 4.25", a Glock 19 MOS, or a Taurus 85 UL with a bobbed hammer (what I currently own) It usually depends on the situation: destination, conditions, distance, clothing, ect. I also really like the M&P's and Walther PPQ M1, but don't have any atm. I usually don't carry the Hi-powers because they are high polished blue and too pretty. I like them too much to abuse, loose, our damage them.
  14. This is good stuff. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  15. If Ak's are M1A2 Abrams (tank), then Yugo M70's are German Leopard 2A7's. Great guns, well-built top shelf quality, CHF barrel. Drawbacks: uses only Yugo pattern furniture and some parts are Yugo specific, barrel is not chrome lined..
  16. Got some new color on the frame of my FEG PJK-9HP. Liked the polished blue on the slide but it was a bit thin on the frame. Went with a two tone type finish. This is a shooter but I think it turned out great. Thanks to 173rdABN for doing great work!
  17. Might try Adco. Mostly due AR barrels but have been known to take others. https://www.adcofirearms.com/shopservices/
  18. It's as pretty as it is awesome! I got to take a peek at it today and I like!
  19. One of the memos added long guns and then a separate memo dropped the numbers/frequency from what was norm. The last memo simply stated total "guns" both long and hand in a week. The ffl handled his books electronically, that generated reports on the proper ATF form and they were mailed weekly IIRC. We did not handle that part but I was familiar with the process. Again this is from memory of several years ago. Not sure why it's that important other than to make the simple point that, like Fast and Furious, the ATF doesn't necessarily go by the rule of law but often operate on agenda of the leadership.
  20. You think just what you think before except ad first hand experience. You had heard it before because you stated nearly the same thing. Evidently the memos we got were the same as the "border states". At least from reading the article they sound nearly identical. This describes what I'm referencing. http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2014/06/atf_backs_down_on_gun_sale_reports.html My guess is, as the article alludes, was not limited to just border states but many ffls in other (non disclosed in the article) states. The time frame is pretty much the same. Point is, that the ATF may not entirely follow the rule of law as you try to imply. No different than how the IRS uses Gestapo tactics.
  21. I know when I was working at a gun store a few years ago we got a memo to report multiple gun sales on handguns and rifles. Don't recall the number but I read the ATF notice. They then sent several updates regarding the number of items that triggered a report on each. Usually dropping the number. I think some of them where request beyond law requirements, but you got the idea it was in the stores best invest if they ever got audited. Just a vague FYI.
  22. Atlantic may take orders tomorrow and I also saw that AIM Surplus had a few varieties left. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
  23. I went with the 6.8 for all the reason you mentioned. It's better than 300BLK at 300 ranges, better than 5.56 at all ranges, and better than 6.5 Grendel until you get past 300 yrds or so. They are all compromises, but the 6.8 seems to have the best parts of the others without any unique negatives.
  24. DDI's are the best in that price range. Pretty much anything in that range is good to go. Only thing's I'd avoid are the IO Inc. made in USA and the current Century RAS or C39V2 guns. If you decide to get something other than the DDI, the current WASR's are great guns for the money. I'm not a big fan of the DDI 12g's. I stick with a Saiga 12 or a VEPR 12.
