  1. Yet another Rayburn article in the Tennessean. It is just like all the rest so I won't post it, but David Randolph Smith's (Rayburn's Lawyer) closing quote was rather interesting.Nashville restaurateur to fight state gun law | tennessean.com | The Tennessean It's official. The TN HCP will no longer be known as a Handgun Carry Permit, but by it's new designation the VHCP (Vigilante Handgun Carry Permit). There will also be a quota for bar shootings in order to retain your VHCP. A badge is required. They have officially lost their minds. It's kinda of refreshing to see.
  2. Old man I grew up with use to talk about sliding you hands along the river bank and tossing the trout onto the bank. I never believed him till I saw that 82 yr old man do it. Pretty funny.
  3. From another retailer's site: Hopefully they will get ridiculously low for a little while. Now where were all those guys who argued with me about market correction?
  4. Best Place I went was the Green River in Montana. We were in a very remote part and you had to hike a few miles above a natual fiord lake to get to the upper stream. We were at 5k-6k elevation IIRC and the trout were aggressive and BIG. We couldn't get them to hit fly's so we tried some rogue tri-hook bass lures we had and they were snagging them almost as quick as they broke the surface of the water. This was late July and the water temp was in the 40's. Very COLD. Another great place was Ross Lake in Northern Cascades Park in Washington state. Went up above Ross dam to the river and the High mountain tributaries flowing in to the lake were spawining grounds for the trout. It was literally like fish in a barrel. Fun times. Not my pictures but this is it:
  5. I don't care much for lake/pond fishing, but there is just something to being on a clear river and trout fishing. I haven't fished much here but we used to go all the time on the White River in Arkansas. Fly fishing is the best.
  6. Centerfiresystems.com is advertising Doublestar? lowers for $99. We're back! AR-15 Doublestar Lower Receiver Part #ARLOWER
  7. That is a truly awful place and this is coming from a guy who remembers The Mall of Memphis, Hickory Ridge Mall, and the Southland Mall's of Memphis!
  8. In light of a somewhat surprisingly good ruling overturning Sotomayor's earlier ruling, is the SCOTUS making a statement on Obama's current SC selection? I know the line they are supposed to be above emotion's and personal feelings........well, except for Sotomayor, but could this be a statement? Interesting me thinks. Supreme Court rules for white firefighters | tennessean.com | The Tennessean U.S. Supreme Court takes turn to right | tennessean.com | The Tennessean BTW - I find it interesting that Sotomayor is only mentioned in passing and these stories are buried deep in the paper.
  9. Army vet and 9mm in the XD and 19 are too much? Then just about any gun short of .380 or a .22 are going to be tough.
  10. Because the technology isn't there yet. Nuclear and Hydro are still the best options ATM. Any crop we use is going to immediately and severely (in the negative) impact world food supply and prices. You think gas prices are an issue? Just wait. The folks in South America can already tell you about the price of tortilla's. Doesn't sound like a big deal for them, but you figure they make $1 - $5 a day and tortilla's are all they can afford at $2-3 a day.......... not good.
  11. we've never been isolated. Since the before the Revolution we have been intermingled with Europe and to a lesser extent the far east. Some of the products and exchanges have changed but the relationships have been pretty much the same. That being said there was a time when Americans lived more simply and were mostly self sufficient. As our greed and desire for more comfort/service industry has grown, so has our "dependency" on those exchanges. I say "dependency" because if we decided to live a little less service oriented and didn't mind getting dirty we could change the exchange direction back like it was before. When I hear people talk about how both parents have to work to survive and then talk about the 4 cars in the garage, the 3-4 large flat screens, the exotic vacations, the clothes they "need", and the house for 8 when only 4 live in it - It makes me skeptical that we would ever be able to live limiting those "needs".
  12. The guy who started Piggly Wiggly started building it but went bankrupt and the city took it over and made it a museum. It is a mansion made with pink block/brick. Is it still open? as a kid it was pretty neat, but my frame of reference at 8 was pretty limited.
  13. Right now Billy Mays is tryin to work out a deal with God. "Ok God, if you act right now and let me in! I'll throw in absolutley free the OxiClean, the Mighty Puddy, the Mighty Mendit, the Quick Chop, the Awesome Auger, the Dual Saw, and the Jupiter Jack. All for $19.95!!!
  14. I've got a great AR scope combo in the classifieds.

    G17 or XDM9mm?

With the parts availability now for XD's and easily tuned triggers, I'd go with the XDm. In a full size, capacity is a bigger factor to me and I like the XDm there. All things being equal, the 17 just doesn't do anything for me. The XDm however, has all the bells and whistles that sucker me in. On a side note, if I were going with a Glock I'd go with a 19. There are many superior guns to the 17 in the fullsize category, but the 19 has few competetors.
  16. Looks like an integrated barrel/suppressor. I'm not overly impressed with the the .300 whisper for anything other than suppressor use, which is what it's designed for. An underpowered sub sonic .30 round? It is quiet though.
  17. Send a PM to gcrookston. He used to collect Luger's and is very knowledgeable on Lugers and their market value.
  18. Haha, you could just say you were putting it out of it's misery!
  19. If you had been carrying a long rifle (since you can now) you could have taken a nice buck! Of course you would have had to argue he was a threat, but I think you got the proof on that one! Nice!
  20. Nice. I'm no revolver guy but I do like the LCR.

    Future President?

The evil laugh and ensuing tirade at the 2:00 mark is hilarious!

    Future President?

Saw that too! For a minute I though I might need to stop watching!
