  1. As far as gloves go I can't say how impressed I was with the Ironclad gloves I was wearing when I went down. The are made for construction and are padded on the palms and very breathable. They indeed took most of my slide and look basically like they did before the wreck. You can get them at any hardware store. The parts that got the most damage were my legs and I had on dress pants that dissolved in the pavement. http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1275615&kw=gloves&lmdn=Brand&searchId=39546166893
  2. For a first gun get a 9mm. It has all the "stopping power" you need with minimal recoil and cost. Meaning you can shoot it a lot more than .380, .40, or .45 for a lot longer. During that time you can get comfortable with shooting and devlope your skills. You may also find that you like it enough to stay in the 9mm platform as I have. In 9's the Ruger SR9, M&P9, XD, or even Glock 19 (not you typical Glock) are great choices and the can all be had new under $500 or used for even less. You can fund steel framed 9's like S&W 3rd gen for good bargains but I know nothing about them. As other have said stay away from .380. For the life of me I can't figure out why it has come back from the brink of death to find popularity. It's like all these yahoos overpaying for a "green" car that cost more and gives you an considerably less performance. It's live putting a 4 cylinder Geo Metro engine in a Camero.
  3. When I got my FNP-9 it was $439 at CDNN and they generally are in the $450-$550 range. The market has kinda shifted and sales for everyone are starting to slow, especially in the AK/AR market. I'd say right now the trade is a toss up on value. The FNP is a fantastics DA/SA pistol. The AK will probably hold it's value better but you may have to hold on to it for while.

Gotta say I've never heard of them till now. Listening to some of their stuff I like the music, but the lead singer is awful! Sounds like he has a speech impediment and not one of those that make the song more interesting. Other than that they have a Black Crows feel to them.
  5. Did you contact Kevin yet? He will make it right.
  6. Everyone ask this question and the answers are always the same. Generally it is a personal preference to what will work for you. Things others love don't work for me and vice versa, but there are some common guidelines you can use. 1. OWB is generally more comfortable and less dependent on pant size, placement, and holster type than IWB. 2. IWB conceals better, but you have to adjust your pant sizes to accommodate the holster. 3. IWB is more holster specific. In other words finding just the right one may take a few extra try's. 4. A good belt makes a world of difference. Do a lot of reading. You will find that most guys report when they like a holster and giver pretty good reasons why.
  7. From what I have seen they do pretty much what they advertise. That being said, they are generally designed for specific situations and IMO aren't great all round performers. As others have said for a whole lot less I can get a whole lot more that will work in nearly every situation. To me it's kinda of an answer to a question that wasn't asked.
  8. I was thinking the same thing! Seriously though, I think she was the epitome of what every conservative whines about wanting in a politician and then throws under the bus when they aren't 100% in alignment with their personal thinking. I'm also amazed how much liberal propaganda has permeated these same minds. Show me one "controversy" she was accused of that bore fruit? Yet I keep hearing in this thread alone how they must have gotten something. If they didn't get it yet maybe it isn't there. This is the thing that aggravates me to no end with conservatives.
  9. Just look at the slew of celebrities that have similar problems. The more fame the more rope you get to hang yourself with. The problem is they have more leeway to choose who is around them. Your average joe is kinda stuck with who he has and runs out of options a lot quicker. As far as why he was the way he was, many have had bad families and a lot even worse and did not turn out like him. We are not products of environment but results of our decisions.
  10. Ha, lack of sleep and no AC will do that to me. Besides it gave this thread something better than unicorns and bunnies to drift away from.

  12. It's GG&G here you go. Rear Spring Flip Up Sight for the AR 15 - A2 Spring Actuated BUIS
  13. I'm thinking there would have to be some test cases first since this is a relatively new issue. My thinking is it could go either way in the current climate. The Walmart incident was not a good gauge becasue as stated it was a "known" issue. Would be interesting to see.
  14. I hate those threads. They add nothing of value, aren't searchable, post counts start to be irrelevant, they hog space, they tend to be cliquish, and they are generally annoying. If you really want something like that maybe a chat feature could be an option. I say that without knowing the hosting issues that might create.
  15. She didn't haver any "scandals". She had the Dems and a multitude of lawyers trying to dig stuff up and all they could get was her daughters pregnancy. Even the Dem controlled ethics investigations in AK admittedly couldn't get anything on her and believe you me they tried. I can't blame her one iota for her stance. I just listened to her entire speach and it made perfect sense to me. She wan't going to be a lame duck taking a paycheck from the AK people and vaction like most politicians do. The sound bites they are playing are what make it sound weird.

    safety bullet

My first thought is NOOOOO. Initially sounded good, but if you accidentally pull the trigger or some one else did and you didn't know about it there is no way you are going to be able to use that gun for protection.
  17. Sad commentary on politics when that is the thought process.
  18. Funny how the good ones get out on their own ala Fred Thompson. UNderstandable but sad nonetheless .
  19. What amazes me is that it is always the Dems that forget the 10000 uncounted ballots that got lost in their trunk or the machines the Dems forgot to count before there was an issue.
  20. Really makes me wonder about the folks in Minnesota. Is this really the state that gave us Little House on the Prairie?
  21. No those laws are only a reflection of what separate us. It is our morality, character, and world view perspective that separate us. Unfortunately the divide is narrowing. BTW I doubt 98% of us who carry are "under" threat. However, we do want to be able to respond in like kind if and when do come under threat. If you could plan it out you could just call the police to meet you there.
  22. Don't worry though, it's not your fault you feel this way. The gun on your hip is what gives you those urges to kill you can't control.
