  1. Old argument - ball ammo doesn't expand. Military intends to wound not kill. Reason they disallow HP's. Most LE went with .40 because .45 doesn't cut it in the barrier and penetration arenas, which are key indicators of stat performance. A lot of State Troopers use .357 SIG (think 9mm +p+) because again a .45 doesn't cut it. Not saying a .45 is a bad round it just has limitations like every other caliber. What I roll my eyes about is the constant touting of the .45 as some super natural man stopper of a round by some, when in truth it falls far short in a lot of areas where other calibers excel. All stats verify this. 9mm, .40, .357 SIG, .45 are all equally adequate as SD rounds. Some are better in certain areas than others and that is why we have choice.
  2. Such extremes are what cloud you judgment. Plus you assume the human spirit is one of defeat. I can point out countless examples that show adversity is what inspires greatness and invention. What we are doing is removing an essential part of the equation (adversity) that makes humanity great. In turn we have a generation that wants to feel no pain - massive rise in chemical dependency and it's negatives - a generation that can not cope with difficulties - massive rise in lawsuits, bankruptcies, mass shootings, crime - and a generation that looks to the government to "save" them from suffering. It is really a shame we have learned so little from our past and history.
  3. Maybe this could be merged with the one in "Noteworthy Reports".
  4. In the second video the info bar at the bottom said his previous giveaway was for a Caltek pistol. Proofread folks, proofread! This guy's got it.

    G17 or XDM9mm?

    Based on ...........?
  6. I just picked up an 870 with the Knoxx Spec Ops NRS stock and it works. Takes the recoil issue out of the equation and also allows you to shorten the LOP for your wife. With a fixed stock, even a youth model, my wife had trouble with the LOP. It will cost about $120 extra but well worth it IMO. http://www.blackhawk.com/product/SpecOps-Adjustable-Shotgun-Stock,1158,165.htm
  7. According to the stats the so called "one stop shot" percentages are 92% to 89% between .45 and 9. The 9 penetrates where the .45 doesn't. Barriers are also a big negative of .45's. Now if your receiving end is naked and standing directly in front of you then maybe you are correct, but add any clothing or anything else between the bullet and the receiving end and the 9 starts taking a lead in the effective category.
  8. Wow. That a way Mr. public servant. I think you proved the point of the above post.
  9. I've had two XD9's and a M&P9 and they are both great guns. I prefer the M&P due to a better trigger reset, lower bore axis, and carries better. The M&P is a slimmer profile and the backstraps are a nice touch. You can get the back straps on the XD but the XDm is significantly bigger in carry terms than the M&P. You can't go wrong either way, but due to the ergo's, lower bore axis, and trigger I'd go M&P.
  10. By far the Walther P99, then the Hi-Power, and then the new CZ P07 - which is more or less the CZ75 grip.
  11. Sad state of affairs when upholding basic Constitutional principles are considered leaning to the right. But I think you may be right.
  12. Not a fatalist, but the proverbial line has been drawn in the sand. Right now I say it's a toss up.
  13. Man! Your in a good mood tonight, aren't you! To the OP, I think 2A would be an appropriate place for your discussion.
  14. Don't know about the ones you see, but here in Nashville they have to be LE and are hired off duty. Sad they have to hire them. Used to be people had more courtesy.
  15. Ralph he also left out the requirements of assistance that Paul laid out for widows and the needy in the church letters as well as Jesus teachings of working and the results of not doing so.Not to mention the levitical mandates on the issue. Not to sound hard but Christians and liberals love to tout mercy and judicial blindness and leave responsibility and consequences unmentioned. Probably for self presevation. To be wholly one or the other is as immoral as doing neither. You can not have one without the other. To do so would be to deny the very person of God himself. That being said this has nothing to do with health care. It is not immoral to expect people to be wise and prudent. Is food a right? I use it more and need it more than I ever will health care. Do I buy food insurance or expect someone else to provide it when I don't have what I think I should? Is it immoral when I have to buy Walmarts Value brand instead of the Hagen Das like the "rich" people do? The answer is no and it sounds absurd to think this way...... yet here we are. Health care is a service like no other, but a service none the less. It is not a right, it is not my job to provide it for you, and I reject the notion that the government has ANY role in it.
  16. Yes, it is their fault on both accounts. To say i lost my job their was nothing I could do, is assinine. Do people not plan ahead in case the unfortunate happens? No most of these folks spend like their current income will last. Statistically American spend on average 114% of our income. Who's fault is it they did not plan ahead? Mine? Why should I have to pay for somebodies lack of planning? I live in a small house, work 2-3 jobs, and self insure. I plan ahead for my family not yours. Now there are cases where no amount of planning could cover the loss. Ideally in those cases you would hope there would be famileis to help out, church's to assist and MANY do, I handle it daily. Short story with a good example. I was recoding a depositions the other day and during the break teh two lawyers and former healthcare CEO (deposed) were discussing how different young lawyers are today. They said in the old days it was cuthroat with everyone trying to make partner because that was the only true job security they had. Nowdays they want to be mid level employees and feel entitled to cushy intern jobs right out of law school. I found it immensly interesting to hear them discuss the difference in employee attitude of the current genereation. This is the problem with helathcare, housing, economy, etc. Unmotivated, sel righteous, entitled, softies, who think life shouldn't hurt and they deserve more than what their parents had
  17. I use CLP and really like it. I tried using some of the Jig-A-Loo dry spray lube and seemed to work really well until my last range visit. It had been a month or so since I had last used the spray and at the range I noticed what seemed to be tiny white particles everywhere. When i would shoot I would get a blast of smoke/gas, as usually, and then a dusting of this white stuff. It appears as if it particulated and just made a mess. I would stick with CLP, Militec-1, or Rem Oil.
  18. Looks good except for the buttstock. Something about it doesn't seem to fit in my mind. Very nice idea though. The one on the left is very nice.
  19. Being in the industry (2nd job) there are a lot of folks you gotta watch out for. On the other hand a lot of the older guys are retired LEO, correctional, or military guys who do know what they are doing and sometimes come across as LE because that's their default training. The biggest problem is the industry is rapidly growing and demand is higher than ever. A lot of these companies will hire just about anyone and starting a salary at 9 hr isn't going to get the best of employees. Think of it like Walmart employees working in security! (inside joke)
  20. I bet Sabre would. Of course I think every part has to be made in Tennesse?
  21. While not the cheapest I can highly recommend this one from Hoffners. HoffnersHybrid Warrior|HWAR
  22. No offense but your friend is an idiot (no offense). The stats show only a marginal difference between 9 and .45, for what the stats are worth. As far as the trade the XD is a far better gun than the Ruger. Not that there is anything wrong with the Ruger just different classes. The SW40 would be a step back IMO, from both the Ruger and XD mainly due to the aweful trigger. Especially for range use. PS - don't State Troopers use .357 SIG? A 9mm bullet with +p+ velocity.
  23. HaHa, good try but they aren't backwards. the "points" are supposed to be primers without showing the rim. The problem with the graphic is that the cases are too long and there aren't any bullets. Now back to the thread.
