  1. Says the HiPoint fan! J/k Did you read the whole thread?
  2. Just read in the newest Rifleman mag that the Detroit PD is picking it up (M&P40) along with the S&W AR line. According to their report over 500 agencies are now using the M&P and 211 are using the S&W AR line. If Detroit is indeed using them we will know for sure how well they work. Talk about a real life torture test!
  3. Cold Steel owns ATC. The difference in the CS and the ATC is the ATC has better steel and a synthetic handle with finger indexes. The CS is a LaGana vietnam era copy while the ATC is the updated version. BTW- check out the "how to" video on the ATC site. Pretty cool.
  4. What's your guys thoughts on say, a LaGana type Tomahawk for general purpose emergency/SHTF/outdoors use? Seem like it would be a better combat tool in CQB, sans gun, and a lot more useful tool for everything else outdoor/survival related than a knife or shovel. Plus you can throw the thing! I'd probably go with the ATC one over the other two. The SOG seems like a cheapie to me. Vietnam Tomahawk : Cold Steel AMERICAN TOMAHAWK COMPANY : LaGana Tactical (VTAC) SOG Fusion Tactical Tomahawk Of course I guess I could always just get proficient with a shovel like the Spatsnaz!
  5. I take it you a yellow dog? Welcome
  6. Anyone seen this yet? Looks good. Only possible negative is if it is a National law then theoretically permits could be administrated by the Feds. Putting my tinfoil on, theoretically, they could also pull RTC nationawide a whole lot easier than if it is stte run. What do you think? NRA-ILA :: URGENT - U.S. Senate To Consider Right-To-Carry Reciprocity Amendment Early This Week
  7. Glad your story had a happy ending. Enjoy the M&P
  8. If you have single shot I would definitely have a 10mm, 50 GI, or 44 mag, but since I carry daily here is my reasoning. Again, it is all about compromises. BTW - I'm not sure where some of you studied math and science but you may want to crack the books again.
  9. That's my point. Did you read them in their context or yours?
  10. In truth the Hi-Power, CZ-75, and down the line the, 1911, are considered the best fitting guns ever. Most other makers have been trying to improve and use these as templates ever sense. The exception is the Glock folks, but there's something wrong with them J/K
  11. Old argument - ball ammo doesn't expand. Military intends to wound not kill. Reason they disallow HP's. Most LE went with .40 because .45 doesn't cut it in the barrier and penetration arenas, which are key indicators of stat performance. A lot of State Troopers use .357 SIG (think 9mm +p+) because again a .45 doesn't cut it. Not saying a .45 is a bad round it just has limitations like every other caliber. What I roll my eyes about is the constant touting of the .45 as some super natural man stopper of a round by some, when in truth it falls far short in a lot of areas where other calibers excel. All stats verify this. 9mm, .40, .357 SIG, .45 are all equally adequate as SD rounds. Some are better in certain areas than others and that is why we have choice.
  12. Such extremes are what cloud you judgment. Plus you assume the human spirit is one of defeat. I can point out countless examples that show adversity is what inspires greatness and invention. What we are doing is removing an essential part of the equation (adversity) that makes humanity great. In turn we have a generation that wants to feel no pain - massive rise in chemical dependency and it's negatives - a generation that can not cope with difficulties - massive rise in lawsuits, bankruptcies, mass shootings, crime - and a generation that looks to the government to "save" them from suffering. It is really a shame we have learned so little from our past and history.
  13. Maybe this could be merged with the one in "Noteworthy Reports".
  14. In the second video the info bar at the bottom said his previous giveaway was for a Caltek pistol. Proofread folks, proofread! This guy's got it.

    G17 or XDM9mm?

    Based on ...........?
  16. I just picked up an 870 with the Knoxx Spec Ops NRS stock and it works. Takes the recoil issue out of the equation and also allows you to shorten the LOP for your wife. With a fixed stock, even a youth model, my wife had trouble with the LOP. It will cost about $120 extra but well worth it IMO. http://www.blackhawk.com/product/SpecOps-Adjustable-Shotgun-Stock,1158,165.htm
  17. According to the stats the so called "one stop shot" percentages are 92% to 89% between .45 and 9. The 9 penetrates where the .45 doesn't. Barriers are also a big negative of .45's. Now if your receiving end is naked and standing directly in front of you then maybe you are correct, but add any clothing or anything else between the bullet and the receiving end and the 9 starts taking a lead in the effective category.
  18. Wow. That a way Mr. public servant. I think you proved the point of the above post.
  19. I've had two XD9's and a M&P9 and they are both great guns. I prefer the M&P due to a better trigger reset, lower bore axis, and carries better. The M&P is a slimmer profile and the backstraps are a nice touch. You can get the back straps on the XD but the XDm is significantly bigger in carry terms than the M&P. You can't go wrong either way, but due to the ergo's, lower bore axis, and trigger I'd go M&P.
  20. By far the Walther P99, then the Hi-Power, and then the new CZ P07 - which is more or less the CZ75 grip.
  21. Sad state of affairs when upholding basic Constitutional principles are considered leaning to the right. But I think you may be right.
  22. Not a fatalist, but the proverbial line has been drawn in the sand. Right now I say it's a toss up.
  23. Man! Your in a good mood tonight, aren't you! To the OP, I think 2A would be an appropriate place for your discussion.
  24. Don't know about the ones you see, but here in Nashville they have to be LE and are hired off duty. Sad they have to hire them. Used to be people had more courtesy.
