  1. Again cost is why they won't switch. Get rid of the accountants and bureaucrats and see! We'd probably have a 30-06 AR!
  2. Yes. The BATF did some investigation and licensing revoking, but I'm not sure anyone knows exactly what the details or outcome entailed.
  3. Same reason the AR uses the 5.56 - ammo cost. Interesting that now most in the military want to go bigger.
  4. Where are you "missing"? I usually miss low left which indicates jerking the trigger and anticipating recoil. Knowing where you "miss" can tell you a lot about how to practice. Remember practicing wrong is worse than not practicing. I can't ever find the training target, but I'm sure some one can link to it.
  5. I was just looking to get over the 3000 post mark. I'm relaxed now!
  6. Not true. If you DIY, you can go as low as $80-$100. My first one I sent to Red Jacket in LA and a full blown AK103 clone ran me $400 (parts included). So, $400 plus the $300 (at the time) Saiga and I had a Russian AK103 for $700. Arsenal Bulgy's start at $800 and it's not even Russian, but they are very nice.
  7. The good thing about AK's is you can't really get a bad one. Century's problems are mostly canted sights and they used to have monkeys with hammers assembling them. Not entirely differnt than a lot of third world countries and those have fought many a war just fine. Saiga's are definitely the way to go. BTW - the Tantal is a 5.45x39 caliber weapon (AK74) and not an AK47 (7.62x39). While most people went the 74 route for ammo cost, I think it offers nothing more. The 7.62 is a better round all together. If you want .22 caliber stick with the AR.
  8. We really need to scrap English and go to Latin..... or Greek!
  9. From what I have seen, the piston AR's are not quite there yet. I like them, but that is why I like the AK. Since this is your first AR I would get a DGI and then you can shoot and accessorize to your hearts content with the money you saved over the GP. Then you can evaluate whether or not you really want a GP or not. Most of the GP makers you can buy aftermarket and fit to your AR anyway.
  10. While he definitely a wise man, we have to remember that liberalism/socialism/tyranny is not new. We neither invent nor create anything that hasn't been tried before. We just change the name and believe in our narcissist nature we can make work what has always failed. That we can make right what has proved to be false. That is why the founding fathers stated things like "we believe these truths to be self evident". Meaning absolute truth that exist apart from man and govern man.
  11. What do you consider good "placement" of your shots? Meaning distance to target group size etc.? I can tell you that 800 rnds is usually just on the other side of getting a new pistol "broken in". It will take many more than 800 to start seeing improvement. Training will speed this up tremendously. Despite what some people think, shooting is not intuitive. In fact it is rather counter intuitive for a person to hold an explosion in their hand and not take cover. It is a learned skill that fades very quickly without "good" practice. Movies have led some to believe they can simply pick up a pistol and shoot a bad guy in the arm, leg, or shoot the gun out of the perps hand at 50 yrds and that just ain't so. You are wise to seek more skill, so don't be afraid to learn good habits from a profesional.
  12. Tru dat!, tru dat! That's me! I work nights and sometimes I'm pretty tired and my mind moves faster than my fingers. When I look back at a post I thought was grammatically perfect, it looks like it was written by a 5 year old!
  13. Personally, I would sell the G19 and then pick up the P07. The P07 you can get OTD for 448-470 NIB and you can probably sell the G19 w/ night sites for around $500 or better. Then you can buy more ammo. I've had two G19's and really liked them, but what I like about the P07 better: - hammer fired (restrike capable) - multiple trigger options (DA/SA or SA) - 17 capacity (G19 is 16, not a big deal) - the BIG one - ergo's! The drawbacks ATM in comparison: - new platform (possible teething issues) - lack of holster options - mag cost All theses I think will be negated in the near future.
  14. I'd think the lower with the cutout would add to the price and $1100 seems reasonable for a m4 variety of that sort. If it came with the Larue BUIS. Since prices have started dropping, I've started seeing regular M4 varieties going in the $700-$800 ballpark. I've never seen a lower with the cutouts so maybe Hero Gear or one of the dealers can tell you how much, if any, it adds value.
  15. For one AR's need to be very wet. That being said I ran mine on the dry side (both DT's) and never had a problem. I assume it is a 5.56 not a .223? If you are using 5.56 in a .223 barrel you could have pressure issues.
  16. Funny how we all hate butchering proper English yet will use all sorts of non standard "text" abbreviations in post. thnx, LOL, IIRC, etc. Oh the irony. I bet English teachers are having fits these days!
  17. He was in the military and served as he stated. While I understand folks being upset, rightly so, joining here to slander doesn't make you any more right or him any more wrong. You can find him in Joelton,TN at ASP. I see him there quite often.
  18. You're gonna be blinded by that polished top in a tactical scenario! What a worthless piece. Seriously though, I really like the Equinox SIG's.
  19. Some of that is auto spell checkers.
  20. CZ P07 currently in a Don Hume OWB. I'm waiting for Raven Concealment or Hoffners to get molds. Carries really nice and I like having 17 rnds ready to go.
  21. That is beautiful! Very nice.
