  1. Saw that one too. the good thing about Kel-Tec is that if it isn't right the will make it so. Very good customer service.

    Info on VZ 58s

Excellent guns. They are not AK's as the internal are all different and not interchangeable. The lower is milled and it has fewer parts than the AK. An excellent updated AK if you will. They started at $800+ but they have since come way down. Darkstar has one and he really like it. I will be getting one as soon as the list of "gotta haves" gets whittled down.
  3. Good stuff. I have it in PDF if anyone wants a copy. Just PM me.
  4. I'll take it back for evaluation...... Might take a few years.
  5. Not really. I've done two. Did it all with a Dremel. The first one was a 7.62x39 and it was harder cause the DIY isn't available for it. The 12 is very simple with the DIY. Once the old trigger guard is removed there is no cutting, welding, or fitting. Very simple.
  6. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=40886 Explains it all with pictures. Nah, you don't need help. It is really easy. I would go here Tromix Do-It-Yourself Saiga 12 Trigger Guard - $45.00 : Mississippi Auto Arms, Inc ::, Your Source for Saiga, AK47, AR15, Tromix, Glock, and SKS firearms and accessories and get the DIY trigger guard deal and a trigger group. Then all you do is drill out/cut the rivets off the old one stick the new stuff on and your done. Here's some links and you can search for more. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/search.php?searchid=839181 http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/long-guns/20616-saiga-conversion.html
  7. there is a "light" review in the current Rifleman issue and they gave it good remarks. IIRC the negatives I saw from the Hero Gear shoot a while back was a heavish trigger. Typical of bullpup designs.
  8. Again I highly recommend going to Walkers Lumber and Hardware. They been around forever and are a top notch contractor supply company. They know all of the contractors in the area and if they say they are good then they are solid. BTW it is owned by Bob Harwell. If that last name rings some bells.
  9. IN that case what will cost a lot of money is making a lot of changes. If you can lock into your design and materials early on you can save a bunch. Walker Lumber and Hardware here in Nashville can also help save you a lot of money and get you a lot better products. DO NOT use Home Depot or Lowes!
  10. Codes is what will cost both time and money. They DO NOT like home owners doing it themselves. If you have a contractor or architect who can help navigate you through that issue it's not all that hard and can save you money. Codes is like the IRS, no matter how well you obey what's written there is always something they can get you on. I've been working on a little 300 sq. ft addition and this has cost me an additional $2000 ($5000 budget) and 2 months. Nothing we did wrong just the process.
  11. While remote not entirely impossible. I had a Federal HST 9mm +p squib where there was no powder in the case. This was new stuff and the last thing I would have thought would happen. Had that been in a defensive shooting scenario, I would have probably ended up with a blown up gun and hand etc damage. That being said it is just one of the possible "what ifs" I have accepted. While remote, it could happen. Of course, I could also ricochet a bullet off of a car, the sidewalk, a stop sign, and then strike a great-grandmother of 20 sitting on her porch - but those are risk I've accepted as well.
  12. Nice! Sadly that is a fairly good deal these days. My first handgun was a FEG PJK-9HP and it was a very nice pistol. It kindaq ruined me from DA pistols though. I've since owned a .40 HP, an FN SFS .40 - back when CDNN had them for $429 (just last year too)! Fantastic guns every one.

    My next gun!

If that's true then what happens when the sucker heats up just from shooting?!
  14. Yes and Yes. Stoeger is owned by Benelli. They did buy Berretta's manufactoring dies and machines and moved it all from Italy to Turkey. Essentially it is exactly the same as the Berretta made on the same machines just in a different location.

    Mossburg 500

I hate that. At least he texted you instead of letting you show up and wait for no one! It happens. Ask me how I know.

So what'd you get? If it were me I would definitely get the XDm. Better handling (at least for me) and I like it's features a LOT better.
  17. From what i hear you can't go wrong with the USP, but if you are looking for a gun that your not paying a few hundred dollars just for a name on it, try the FN FNP9/.40 or the CZ P07. They also come in a SA versions as well. I have had the FNP and it is a fantastic gun. I currently have the P07 and it is near perfect for my criteria. It replaced the G19's, Walther P99, 226, and every other gun I've tried.
  18. For a minute I thought we were going into some Bertrand Russell dialogue. Anyway my .02, I have been a Pastor for the last 12 years and one thing I have found is that most can't define spiritual or religious. Depending on how they define those terms shapes the conversation. Here's mine. I believe we are all spiritual in the sense that we have a spirit that is searching for purpose and relevance to our existence. I also believe we are all religious in the the sense that we ALL subscribe to some governing form of living. Even those who claim neutrality are not. It is inherently impossible. That being said, I simply try to follow my savior and Lord Jesus Christ and his Word to us. If I am wrong, I am no worse off than any other "religion" or belief system when I die and while I live I am constantly challenged to do better. However, if "they" are wrong and Christ is right, then they are lost. I, as some others here, have degree's in theology, History, Philosophy, etc. and they ultimately mean nothing. It is much simpler than some elitist knowledge (think Pharasees). I believe as the Bible says that we all have the Word/truth written on our hearts. If we are honest and follow that script it will lead us where we need to be. Another thing I've learned is that arguments lead nowhere. All I can say is what I know and what I know is that Jesus was born of virgin, lived a perfect life, died for our sins, and rose again on the third day. Romans 10:9 " If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
  19. What about the other business you use these roads to access? Are they off limits as well even though they have not individually posted? Does this mean you can't have a gun while driving to and from these places?

    Fall color

I'm thinking you are fortunate to have experiences with both
  21. While you could I don't see much reason for it.
  22. Went to Rivergate Chick-fil-A and noticed an interesting posting. On the stop sign as you entered the complex roadway off of Gallatin Rd., there was a properly worded and sized sign just below the stop sign. Do they intend that the mall is posted and all stores you access with those roads are off limit? Can they post access roads in the first place? This could be problematic at the least. I did notice another access entrance had a free standing sign as well. I'm assuming all entrances are posted.
  23. I'm not the most up to date on all things techy but I just discovered this and thought I;d pass it along. I really like Chrome when it came out but anything I can't use Roboform on is a no go. Well they finally fixed it.... sort of. Thought I'd pass it on. RoboForm for Chrome (alpha) was released RoboForm & Chrome | RoboForm Forum and Chrome Forums
  24. Where's that self defense video of the guy who gets on the ground and fights like a six year old girl? I think they get all the awards!:bowrofl:
  25. Good stuff. Buy if it is a decent price.
