  1. Haha! The rifle was so nice I missed the bayonet laden Battle Mug!
  2. Is that yellow? I'm hoping it's desert tan under weird lights.
  3. If you are looking for something economical, but is head and shoulders above either of your two choices try the CZ P07. several places are running specials on them for around $300. It's Glock 19 size, holds 16+1, and can be either DA or SA. I've had the P11 and I can say it is not the best for you intentions. If you go with a Kel-Tec goo with the PF9. It si better than the P11 in every way.
  4. Unfortunately I didn't get to go, but I will make a few observations. 1. It seems that most folks had very high expectations and that should say something for the kind of product the organizers are known for. (HG, TGO,.....) 2. The location seems to have been a bit of a hindrance for attendees (it was for me), but I imagine it was better suited for the folks putting it on. Being the first one that is completely understandable. 3. Although not all the vendors showed, it seem to have been what it was supposed to be for the most part. These things are incredibly hard to organize and put together and I imagine there is quite a learning curve. That being said, I bet the few details that created negativity will be addressed and the details that could put the event over the top will be evident at the next event. From what I've heard it sounded like a really good idea and will only get better as the learning curve diminishes. Some of you guys are pretty harsh and lead me to believe you haven't organized or lead in a major event along these lines. If you had you would be praising the event that it didn't have more problems than it did.

    Trigger reset

Don't know about real life situation, but the Kel-Tec PF9's I had would give me problems when rapid firing. As I went quicker my fingers didn't seem to be as flexible and tighten up. When this happened I didn't always let out far enough and would get dead pull. I can only imagine in a real life situation where motor skills are even more diminished it would be worse.

    AR Hype

I understand what you are saying. I think part of the wow factor is the vast assortment of toys and accessories you can add/change about the gun. When you get tired of one thing you can switch to something else. This is probably why the big guys market the crap out of these. There is a huge aftermarket for these things. I look at them like i look at 1911's and Glocks. There are better weapons out there, but marketing, aftermarket support, and nostalgia keeps them going. If you want souped up .22 magnum rifle that is ammo sensitive, maintenance intensive, not terribly reliable depending on the previous points, delicate, and cost way more than most other platforms - then the AR is for you. If we were true to our utilitarian roots we'd all have AK's, but evidently looking cool has no price limit.
  7. Amazing! Even though you missed the point entirely, it is interesting to watch your mind work. BTW - Reagan is referred to as The Great Orator.
  8. "Faith without works is dead" and here lies the problem with politics today. We rise or fall in the moment based on an empty speech. Evidently we (Americans in general) are incapable of judging a body of work if the mouth is smooth enough. "A flatterer's words lead to destruction". IF you remember Reagan was not considered a great speaker until the end of his presidency. Reagan was a great orator because his deeds gave his words power. Churchill the same way. Even in a negative sense Hitler and Stalin. Obama knows what to say to keep people watching the right hand while the left stays it's course. We would be better off if we never listened to another political speech again. I think the Robes Pierre would agree. I would rather look at what he has done lately than what he says.

    Ak-47 input

Generally yes. Some have an angled backplate that normal gear won't fit, but I believe there are adapters that can be used.

I will also add that while the milled receiver is a more desirable collector item, they do have a tendency to crack where the barrel and receiver join up. They are also heavier.

    First Carry Gun Help

Of those you listed I like the XD the best. The SR9 seem to have issues and have been under a recall already. I like them they just make me uneasy. Taurus gives me that same feeling and I get the impression they are hit and miss. Though you didn't mention it, I have been using a CZ P07 and it is an excellent pistol, with a manual safety, hammer fired, and Glock 19ish size. I've had XD's, Glocks, and SIGS and I like the P07 the best. Plus they are going pretty cheap ATM. Think $300ish.

That's the best thing going right now. You can't convert to that extent for nearly that price. Plus they have the dimples, most Saiga's do not, and you might even get one with the third "x". If that matters to you.

The Bulgarians are very good and you can get them for less than $500 ATM. Saiga's are the way to go if you want the joy of doing it yourself. If not Arsenals have come way down and they are using Saiga's now and will be in your budget.
  14. The "enemy camp" IS HIS camp! It's like saying my wife and kids are the enemy.
  15. I trying to find out how to get involved in this sport. Any suggestions?
  16. I agree the wife. Mine watches something and al the sudden she has a new fear. Fortunately she is cool with the guns, but don't get me started on helmets and car seats! Drives me crazy. Generations of people never wore helmets when riding bikes and sat/laid all sorts of ways on family trips and we seemed to have come along just fine. Not to say safety isn't important, but come on!
  17. Glad it's going to work out. Do we need to pre-register or just show up?
  18. Question is, what officer up the line pushed this through. You can't tell me that SO leadership is this soft to take their guys down over a punch in the face. Somebody made this an agenda. No this isn't a conspiracy theory, just wondering who the sell out is.
  19. No words can describe my disgust. Give them the medal they deserve and a parade.
  20. Now here's an interesting comment:
  21. They are a cheap version of the Uzi in a lot of ways. They churned them out (full auto's that is) before the full auto ban in '86 and then continued to make semi versions. There are a lot of after market do dads for them, mostly for the auto versions, so you need to be careful not to get into trouble with the ATF. I've never heard anything bad about them other than they are pretty spartan. Magicarpetrides has a auto one. Might check with him.
  22. A sheriff called Bunny. Now that's one tough cop name! Welcome BTW!
  23. Well looked under there and all four boots look to be in good shape and "dry". No grease to speak of. While driving there isn't any "drag", acceleration, or steering issues. The only thing is this stupid buzzing sound that comes on at about 25-30 MPH and increase with speed. Weird.
  24. Anyone know anything about U-Joints or CV joint on a 2004 Pontiac Montana minivan. Thing drives fine but hums like my old bike with a baseball card in the spokes! Is it easy to fix or something that is gonna cost me dearly?
