  1. Hey guys, my brother owns a exclusive high end restaurant in downtown Nashville and needs about 10 guys to valet park. It would be New Year's Eve night from 7-2 (maybe 12am)am. These folks pay 2k a year just to be members so they can and do tip well. Wage hr+tips Might even meet some famous folks. I'm needing cash so I'll be working too. This is a good opportunity for some quick cash. PM me for specifics. Here is a link to the retaurant The Standard at the Smith House. BTW most of the girls in the pics are my sister in laws so be nice! To answer questions: - No experience just able to drive a car across the street and a valid DL. - Must be able to handle a stick. - I will be and am always armed, just out of sight - Insurance is covered by the restaurant. - Straight cash no 1099's.

There are several threads running already with the same question. DO a little search and they should pop at the top.
  3. magicarpetrides has one with the Lage upper IIRC. He will probably have some insight for you. everything I've read on Uzitalk says they serve their purpose with the Lage upper on them.
  4. I've not used any high end scopes and the DMS-1 seemed fine to me. You will get guys on AR15 that complain about the 1x but most of those same guys consider anything under $500 glass to be junk. I had it co-witness with my irons without any problem. It wasn't perfect, but it was very usable and wouldn't have even thought differntly had I not read about it from others. IMO.
  5. Me personally would get one of the mag adapters and use AR mags. Just makes sense. DO NOT use Tapco or Pro Mag. The Bulgy 10's are by far the best mags out there, however, I have yet to hear any bad things about com bloc mags.
  6. Must be pretty serious. I pray all will be well for him. He really seemed like a class guy.
  7. Had one on my 6.8 AR and loved it! I had the ADM Recon QD mount. Got mine for under $200 here. Millett 1-4x24 DMS Tactical 30mm Riflescope
  8. Everything I've read says they stay put. However, there were a few notes not to over tighten the bolt. with a lifetime no questions ask warranty i figure I'm gonna give it a shot. I really like the idea just don't have a need for the real thing.
  9. Eh, ammo cost are near the same as 5.56 now (minus Wolf/steel cased stuff) and ballistically the same as .308 (not .270) out to 350 yrds. Add in the ability to change uppers, cheap mags (c-products), and it weighs a lot less than any .308. I don't see any comparison to a .308 AR. They are to different animals. It is best compared to a 5.56 AR. As far as cost, a Barret will run you more but has the GP system, rail etc. that make it fairly reasonable when pitted against an 5.56 AR with similar features. There are other custom guys that are actually cheaper than a lot of 5.56 builds (feature to feature). Bison Armory and Titan Armory for examples (Not GP BTW).
  10. Get both. The SKS is just an AK that's not scary looking. But Oh, how I love the AK. Only wish Americans had made it. I'm convinced Mikel was an American kidnapped to Russia.
  11. Here's th first link from a search. MITCHELL DOUBLE ACTION Looks to be a Sig 226 clone/copy. Zastava made it in Yugoslavia as the CZ99 until Tressitu in South Africa made them called the TZ99. Evidently only a few of them were made before Tressitu folded. Fromt he few reviews I have seen they are very nice guns. The Zastava ones are not as good from reports.
  12. Try one of these. They have a lifetime warranty and are getting great reviews. Here is the cheapest place to get them. 7247K-KONUS RED DOT SIGHT PRO ATOMIC

Don't know how good the info is, but this is the only thread going while I'm waiting for my shift to end!

It depends on the build but generally speaking the K-Var guns are top notch. The Bulgy's are generally the best of the mid/low end. WASR's are fine if they are built right but are lower end. Russians are generally considered to be the best. Mainly becasue they are made on the original machinery by folks who have been doing it the longest. There are good things to be said about some of the Madi (Egyption), Radom/Polish, Mak90/Polytech versions but finding those are rare. Yugo's are really good but don't have chrome lined barrels. AMD's are Hungarian and solid but have odd furniture and a few unique quirks. It sounds more complicated than it is. The thing to remember about AK's is that the one put together by the 10 year old in Africa is nearly identical to the one put together in Russia. It's not like an AR where machining, material, and precision make a big difference. IF something is croked or messed up with an AK you generally can make it right with a mallet. If you get a well built AK it really won't matter if it is a Russian, Bulgy, Yugo, WASR, Hungarian, ect. Go to the AKforum and you can get a better idea of what's out there.

I've not heard great things about them even though it is a popular rifle. Me personally I'd get an AK especially since prices are WAY down. It will get you the best out of the x39 round, accessories and parts are widely available, and it is a heck of a lot cheaper than the Ruger. Plus it's as "evil" as they come! K-Var is selling great AK's at unheard of prices ATM. Bulgarian AKSSR-85 #AKAGUN-SSR also has some bulgy's at really good prices.
  16. How do you like the Tech Sights? I've been waiting for the review on the Akforum, but haven't heard much lately. I know the first batch had some issues with the top cover. How does yours work? Pictures maybe?
  17. I sure like those VEPR's!

Haha! True. I was just thinking in the 1911/Hipower/75 classic.

It looks different in person. For some reason the P07 photographs poorly. However, it has more classic lines than a Glock.
  22. I've got an old 1923 Sears and Roebuck order book that my great grandfather used in his little store in Boswell, AR. It's about 5 in. thick and has a great section on firearms.
  23. David I had no idea. I knew you lost the one child, but not another one. I am very sorry for your loss. I guess one thing to remember about the the Holidays is that it can be a very difficult time for a lot of people. We have several on this board who have lost children, wives, husbands, fathers, mothers, and others recently. Maybe we should make sure we think about these folks before we get too caught up in celebs or our own enjoyment of the season. I'll be praying for those who will hurt this season.
  24. This should cover all the bases! awesome pics of just about every load I would want to try. Shotgunworld.com • View topic - 12 gauge Wound Profiles (56k beware) Examples on page 3
  25. Kinda like someone who judges people shallow and narrow minded because they disagree with them? At least he had the conviction to state his belief, why he believes it, and the logic of how he arrived at it. I always love these pointless off topic attempts to put people in their place because they make a judgement call by ........ making judgement calls. Ironic isn't it? Just sayin. He believes what he believes, you don't. If your so convinced your right why get so bent out of shape? Right is right, wrong is wrong. Either you are or you aren't and it isn't going to matter what someone else says or believes if you are right. Not being mean just trying to save you some emotional turmoil.
