effectiveness is equal to just about anything out there short of 10 mm./44mag. according to every study ever done, if not better in some cases. You also don't have to deal with excessive noise, flame, or recoil like in other cartridges such as .40, .357 SIG, .45 ect. Not to mention less stress on the gun, lighter gun, more rounds, less reloading, more practice, cheaper,.............. There are those that just will continue to believe larger calibers are better cause its makes sense to them and that what near 100 yrd old ball ammo data said. That's fine. Just remember there were also those that believed the earth was flat because it just made sense too them as well.

Just picked up one up a new Vortex SPARC for my MSAR and I gotta say, it is nice! In the box comes the optic, x2 doubler, 2 mounts (low and high), 2 mount shims, lens covers, extra battery, cleaning cloth, and all the papers. Construction seems very solid and I really like the no questions asked lifetime warranty. The high mount co-witness's on an AR and if you add the shim it will lower 1/3 witness. The low mounts are mainly for shotguns ect. I used the high mount without any shim for my MSAR. The dot itself gets very bright and although I haven't got it to the range yet I really like it. Battery life is supposed to be 120 hrs on high and up to 8000 hrs on normal (mid) setting. It is NV compatible and has an auto shutoff after 6 hrs. Some don't like the buttons on the Strikefires/SPARC but presently I do. Very easy and intuitive to work. Probably not what I'd want in war time, but then again maybe I would. My MSAR barrel is getting threaded ATM so pics and range report coming next week.

As others have stated a lot of it is corrosive. Also if she drops it or bangs it up, you won't cry over it.

BS. I grew up in SE Shelby county before Memphis took it over and it was still "rural". Our church was was victimized numerous times, car break ins were a regularity in the parking lot, the church itself was broken into twice, our home was robbed twice, my mom worked at Oak Court Mall where there were two employees murdered on two separate occasions (robbery related), and I had several friends victimized by the same stuff. If the barrel is stamped 5.56 it can shoot both if it is stamped .223 it should only be shot with .223. Most AR's can shoot both. Usually only the hunting oriented or target specific rifles are stamped .223.

5.56. The difference is in the chamber/barrel. That's why you go by the barrel stamp. BTW you can shoot .223 in your 5.56.

South Korean democracy is NOT the same as the US. While they may be a democracy they, like a lot of small countries, are very socialist in their mind set. There is a reason why NK has been constantly invaded and fought over by China, Russia, and Japan.That being said thee are wrose places than S Korea. They are a very good country. Thanks to the fact we have kept them free.

Had an interesting conversation with a lady I work with and thought I'd share. From my experience it is indicative of how most of the rest of the world thinks, why they don't understand us, and why they envy and despise us at the same time. This particular lady is from South Korea and has been here for 15 years. Although you would not know it from her very poor English. Our first discussion was on health care. She stated she didn't understand why the government didn't take care of everyone. She then went on to talk about how her in her country there are no jobs and everyone is very poor, but they have free health care! I responded with, so where do you want to live. She looked at me crazy and said here (US)! Our second topic went to guns. She said in her country no one but the police and military have guns and she thought it was crazy that "everyone" here has guns. I responded with, "that's why your country is constantly invaded and the US military has been there so long!" I said, "here if someone tries to invade us we would all fight back. What did the communist do when they took over? They took all your guns." She seemed to begin to understand but she responded she was just to afraid of guns. She went on to tell me of several repeated armed robberies a store she owns experienced. I said, "you need to get a gun to protect yourself. Bullies will bully you till you stand up to them." She responded with, "i just too fraid. I would rather just die than to have a gun! I too scared!" I continued our discussion a little more explaining the concept of personal liberty and the right to life, but her socialist mindset had conditioned her to think that living in fear was normal and some how more righteous. Although she is in her late forties it seemed like I was talking to an irrational kid at some points. I offered to take her shooting, but I doubt that will ever happen. This was all positive and lighthearted but it really saddened me to think of what happens when the concept of personal freedom and liberty are stripped from a persons mind. Folks this is what socialism does and why socialist like to use it. Their people are very easy to control.

Get it and then get an EFK conversion barrel. The heavier slide will allow you to shoot the +p and +p+ loads without worrying about problems. According to Bill Laughridge of Cylinder and Slide that is the best way to go.

I'm a HP fan, I've had 4. Think of it this way, it's what John Browning wanted the 1911 to be before the military stuck their noses in development! Get it and don't look back. They aren't very many around anymore. The only reason i don't have mine anymore is because they were just too nice to carry and I couldn't just sit them in a safe.

Glad you posted that. i had no idea. I got mine back in '06 and had nothing but a good experience. Looks like things went down from there. They are the best sight idea I've ever seen though. Too bad.

I tried Opticsale.com and they don't have them. Took my money for 4 days till I called them.

I guess its because they were discontinued.

I just looked for one and all I can find are ones running $400. For that I'm bumping up to the Eotech.
