  1. The good thing about shipping in state is that it is pretty much 1-2 days, even going ground. Can't beat that. I've shipped pistols 3 times FTF (2 ups, 1 FedEx) and haven't had a problem. They were all too people I felt I knew pretty well from the forum. The one that made me rethink was from glocktalk. I think he tried to screw me. Luckily I put it on hold when I didn't receive his tracking number in return (it was a trade). I can tell you that the counter folks do not know their own policies or laws. Box it up schedule a pickup and there will be no problem.
  2. Why not a .22 for cheap practice? 5.56 isn't much cheaper than 6.8 unless you're talking Wolf.
  3. I really like the 6.8. Especially for hunting. Ammo prices have come way down and since you reload getting good .270 bullets is very easy.
  4. +1 Hassle and cost. Dealing with FexEx or UPS concerning guns can be very difficult. Mainly because they don't know their own policies or the laws most of the time concerning non-FFL's on in state shipping. I've also run into the same problem with people buying getting nervous for the same reasons. It's just easier FTF.
  5. My kids LOVE lighting bugs. The keep them in jars (one night limit) and sometimes necklaces. Of course these days I could probably be arrested for that. I remember my 6 yr old running around catching them when she was 18 mo old. Good times.
  6. Took mine there as well about 2 yrs ago. class was excellent and we didn't waste a lot of time with nonsense.
  7. I guess as a wildlife biologist she understands that there are hunting seasons for a reason and that over population causes disease and starvation that decimates herds for years. All though that wouldn't fit the agenda. What nuts!
  8. Now why can't they just get back to sending racist e-mails to each other.
  9. Got pulled over coming back from Dresden to Nashville. I was getting shelled with debris from a logging truck so I passed him just outside of Camden. As I was pulling back into my lane a THP came over the hill in front of of me. He said he clocked me at 64 in a 55. I told him why and he said he didn't see it. The worst part was I had to drive back over to go to court in Camden. The judge had a ticket he had received framed hanging on the wall and started court with a "no ones an exception" speech. He then told us that the THP officer wouldn't be there and that we would have to come back in two weeks if we wanted to contest the ticket or plead guilty and be done with it. I came back only to have him tell me he didn't agree with TN rules of the road and even 1 mph over for any reason was illegal. Felt like I was Cool Hand Luke.
  10. Funny thing is it has been re-listed 3 times and no bids on any of them!
  11. Might try searching. This is one of the proverbial dead horses.
  12. So..... you are making a big deal about what you consider not to be a big deal! Just poking the bear! Back to the OP. Sometimes the right thing and the legal thing aren't always the same thing. You did right.
  13. Funny thing is, when kids were spanked schools were orderly, there were very few cases of violence, there were no police on school grounds, there were no mass murders at school, teen pregnancy still shocking, kids grew up in families and became productive adults .............................. Sure there are other cultural elements at work but they are all linked. Discipline works. Free range development is for skinny chickens.
  14. After watching "Star Trek: First Contact" the other night, I see this. Very cool!
  15. That's the way to draw a line in the sand.
  16. Got that, but in the OP he said he left her thus leaving the gun with her. I read it as he left her stranded while he went for gas. In the follow up he said he got the gas THEN met her and then followed her to the station to fill up. Thus there would have been no need to leave her with a gun and no permit since he was with her till she was out of the danger zone. Unless I missed something. If I read it right the first time i agree he did the right thing. If the second scenario is correct she was in no more danger before or after. Then again maybe I'm making something simple overly complicated. He did the right thing....maybe?
  17. I'm missing something. You were with her the whole time? If so then there is no need for the hypothetical. BTW - Mine were questions for clarification not answers.
  18. Question?: What "mental health" of the client makes it impossible to stay long enough to make sure she gets off OK, when you took the time to get all the other stuff? Also why would she be in a neighborhood that necessitates firearm protection and not have protection in the first place?
  19. reminds me of the proverb: "be wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove". Like my wife always tells me it how you say it not necessarily what you say. I answered a lot of objections to stuff with a disarming smile and aphrase while expressing the truth at the same time. Sometimes though I 'm reminded of another proverb: "a fools lips invites a beating":D and "Silence is golden"
  20. I've heard nothing but good things about Konus CS and lifetime warranty. that website is just a reseller, not the company.
  21. You can only go Down from .40 to 9mm or .357 sig. You can't go from 9mm up. Reason is the hole in the slide where the barrel comes out is not wide enough and most .40 slides are a little heavier for the extra pressure.

    My S&W M&P 9c

I'm on my second FS M&P9 and I really like them. My new one has a very gritty trigger that will soon get the Apex upgrades. My first one had a very good trigger OTB. Enjoy!
  23. No. Mine has a 20" barrel, but the 16" version is shorter than an M4 that requires a NFA stamp. Just pointing out that NFA makes about as much sense as the tax code.
