  1. centerfiresystems.com is running Wolf 55g at $200/1K shipped ATM. Can't beat that.
  2. I'd go with the Bravo Company upper. Has a few extras that most folks like, ie M4 feed ramps and HPT inspected barrel.

    Barrel Twists

The numbers stand for twist per inch. In other words a 1:9 means one twist every one inch. The more twist the faster the bullet will spin. In AR's the current trend is higher twist rates to stabilize heavier bullets. A slow twist rate works better on lighter bullets. If you use a 55g in a 1:11 barrel the bullet will spin so fast that it will wobble and the bullet will actually spin apart (depending on construction. If you use a really heavy bullet say 77g in a 1:7 barrel it won't spin fast enough and will wobble and have terrible accuracy. A 1:9 or 1:8 with stabilize most common bullets and work pretty good for most all purposes.
  4. Haha, nah i'm not a real operator. Just a poor guy with an expensive hobby. Get a wife and a few kids and you'll understand;)
  5. In my quest to enjoy my toys and stay within my ever decreasing budget, I came across this. All I can say is I'm impressed for what it is. At $6.95 it is an excellent bargin. It is a little rough on some edges, but it seems to be well made. I figure on a flashlight all it's gotta do is stay put and hold tight. This does that well. Can't see paying $45-$80 for a FL mount. DealExtreme: $6.96 T2008 Aluminum Alloy Gun Barrel Laser/Flashlight Mount with Hex Wrench
  6. Here's the three I generally carry: Main knife is a Gerber Covert FAST. Just got it and LOVE it. Gerber Ripstop I. great little light weight knife. and occasionally a Kershaw Ken Onion Vapor. Two I lost and really miss were: CRKT M-16KZ Tanto I lost in a motorcycle wreck and a CRKT HUG - great little knife.
  7. OK flashlight guru's and true operators, I have a question for you. When mounting a flashlight on a rifle what kinda beam are you looking for? Is it better to have a great spot, flood, or a good mixture? I have an Ultrafire C1, which works really well, that I may use on my MSAR STG or I may go with something else depending on input. It has a really good spot and decent flood. Now I'm not going into combat or anything just for general purpose and because I can. Also, my Ultrafire has 5 modes (hi, mid, low, strobe, SOS). I feel like a single hi mode would be better, but I like the strobe feature and could really see how that could be useful. I really only use the hi and strobe anyway. BTW it's a fast strobe. Ratings on the Ultrafire are 230 lumens (realistically around 200) and takes (2) CR123 or (1) 18650 batteries. Runtime is well over 2.5 hours (18650) and around 1.5 hrs. (CR123). Any thoughts on batteries? Not my gun, but I'm gonna mount it like this.
  8. I should also add for the kid nothing is better than one of those baby sling things. You can make one yourself, but basically it's a strong piece of fabric you make into a sling. Cool thing is you can ride the kid in front, back, hip, ect. and the sling can be used in emergencies for many different things. You'd be amazed at how easy it is to carry a kid that way. I thought they were gimmicky till I saw African women tilling up fields by hand with 2 yr olds strapped to their backs!
  9. Make sure you get an internal frame pack. You can carry a lot more weight and not kill yourself in the process. That being said a 2-3 day pack will be about all you can carry with a child. Get your wife a 1-2 day and you should be set to go. Just remember the bigger the bag the greater the chance of taking too much unnecessary stuff. Wise planning and packing will make more difference than the size pack. There are some really efficient and knowledgeable guys who can take more useful stuff in a 1-2 pack than I can in a 4 day. Just a thought.
  10. Alexander the Great is one you have to do a lot of reading between the lines to come up with that. The same people who purport that are the same ones that insist all Sparta men were gay as an institution. Yes there were some cultural issues, but it is a recent phenomenon to portray historical fugues in that light and part of a certain agenda to retell history. Heck all Japanese are gay because they hold hands in public.
  11. The concern has always been that relationships will cause soldiers to respond differently than how they are trained. With women men tend to be more protective at the risk of other males troops, which is why women have not traditionally been put in combat roles. Leftist who see the world through unrealistic Utopian eyes think that human nature and reality play no part, but when lives are on the line all that gets thrown out the window. Kinda like the book smart genius who can' figure out how to drive a manual.
  12. Be really careful not to limp wrist it. Little thing packs quite the punch. In fact the reason they quit making it was because so many people sent it back for malfunctions and turns out it was limp wristing. Not every body can handle it. Great guns if you can handle it.
  13. Mike, the leprechaun is an Obama administration official bringing the poor people their gold. Stimulus money!
  14. Always fun to see this one again. BTW I have a start up business making magic flutes if anyone needs one!
  15. It's on! http://tnga.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=63&event_id=118
  16. I think it's funny. I didn't hear but one word that the FCC wouldn't flag! haha. My question is what are they working so hard at to make it up? CNN
  17. NO. IMHO. While I don't buy the broken back SOB skeptics on most issues, I do for riding. When I rode before (and if my wife will let me ride again;)) I carried off body in a Maxpedition style bag with the holster already on my hip. When I got off I would transition or leave it in the bag depending on the place I was going. After my wreck, I am especially sensitive to what can happen with a gun on the hip. Had I been wearing mine in the holster when I was hit it would have broken my hip, damaged the gun, and probably been lying loose unsecured on the road. Since it was in my bag it was undamaged, accessible, and still concealed while all the crowd/LE/EMT's was around. Just a thought. I would also consider shoulder holsters, if you can wear the right clothing with it.
  18. ? I'm surprised no one said Harrison Ford. He'd be my favorite actor.
  19. I guess there was no more noodlin that day!
  20. This is an OLD picture. That being said i would highly doubt he is an ATF agent. Probably bought the hat at the local ghetto gas station along with his SWAT hat.
  21. The only one close to Pegram that i know of is the Cheatham TWRA range. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - Firing Ranges Great place, but in opposite direction of Pegram.
  22. Might want to check their lead times. There is a fairly long wait 70-75 days, which seems extremely long for a kydex holster. while I don't have one this company is making a similar one with a few differences that cost less and is available. I'm seriously considering it over the Raven for availability, price, and the owner has showed me great customer service with my inquiries. Kydex Holsters by NTAC
  23. I don't see why the city isn't mandatory. Makes it a lot easier on several fronts.
