could the guy in the background of this picture use deadly force?
Smith replied to Ghooge2008's topic in General Chat
LE would disagree. If a gun is in process of being drawn, bad guy is down immediately. If a gun is already drawn on arrival and BG even flinches, bad guy is down. IMO this is a really easy situation. I think you guys WAY over think situations that aren't that complicated. BTW you can legally arrest and detain anyone you spot in the commission of a felony. Armed robbery fits that very well. Now holding him at gunpoint may/may not be an issue, but shooting the guy is 100% OK. Only caveat would be if he was already running away from the bank or something along those lines. Of course this thread won't end until you, Jaime, and few others debate the minutia of the law for 8 pages anyway. -

Pretty clear and easy to prove fear of death or injury. Guy has a gun drawn and is committing armed robbery. This would be an easy case. -
Lester I'm with you on the DA. I've tried DA and DA/SA but I just cou;dn'y get used to it. My first HG was a hi-power so the SA feeling trigger was what I was used to. I' hear from guys who got their start on revolvers that DA is a lot more intuitive. I guess my point is what you learn with makes a big difference. As far as C&L, I've carried that way a lot and never found it to be a problem safety wise. When you think about it it is actually safer than most striker fired carry simply because the safety is not passive. It takes two deliberate actions to fire it as opposed to one. Also I've found that a low bore axis greatly increases my accuracy. I've heard that with some folks it a non issue, but for me it makes a big difference. So, the combination of a light, clean SA trigger pull combined with a low bore axis is the most accurate combination for me.

BTW That's his wife in real life. We could do a lot worse than Haslam, but we could also do a lot better. I won't cry if he gets elected. Nor will I celebrate. I get the impression he is a died in the wool politician and that comes from knowing him personally some years ago.

Essential the same thing as the Walther P99 just not as refined. The trigger is also not as good as the Walther models and is probably the DAO (the worst of the options) or the standard AS variant. If you like the trigger it is a good deal. Mags are a bit pricey if you can find them.

This is the Jimmy Carter of the gun world. The Mendoza line of pistols. You can only go up from here!

No the wife was fired, but delivered threats on behalf of her husband who has an HCP. If that makes sense. Not the first time it has happened and I'm not really worried about it, just got me thinking. The e-mail that was passed down simply stated the scenario and then added that he had an HCP and was known to carry a gun but never on the premises or in our building. It carried with it a sense of extreme heightened fear due to the HCP. Of course if they knew all the folks that were armed in this building they would probably be just as concerned and fearful.
-
Sort of. The fact the husband has an HCP only indicates that he may be armed if he does show up to back up his verbal threats. I thought maybe using the fact he could loose his HCP could be used as extra leverage to help him calm down a bit more. I guess it's all mute unless a restraining order is granted, which this particular law firm could get easily if the desire. i was more curious about how threats in general can affect HCP privileges.

I can't stand Apple. They built their company on being anti the evil Microsoft and their cornering and holding the market hostage and turns out THEY are worse than Microsoft. Not to mention the Mac snobs. I think Christopher Guest nailed the Mac snobbery with the couple in "Best of Show". I'll take just about any alternative to Mac. Probably why i don't like Glock either!

Thing is he threatened a big time law firm. Not the brightest guy . I'm sure they know the right channels, I was just curious for my own information for future reference.
-
Yeah, after reading his website I feel bad for the guy. He obviously has something wrong upstairs. I will have to say at least he has the guts and courage to try to make his convictions mean something.

Why in the world would they not have those in-hand? Kinda like McDonald's discontinuing hamburgers. -
Question about HCP suspension. If an employee is fired and their significant other makes verbal threats is that grounds for their HCP to be suspended? Situation is this: The place I work had an employee fired and the person fired made specific threats towards two current employees on behalf of their significant other. If a report is made would that trigger a HCP suspension or is that a different process? I personally would rather that be added leverage, since I would be the first to encounter the individual if he were to follow through. Just curious and while I am technically not armed at work, I always have the means to "protect" myself if need be.

Thanks I was on my phone and couldn't remember it. I was also excited to see someone else mention Zulu! Awesome movie. As I read the list, I'm finding there aren't too many war movies I DON'T like!
-
just about all the ones mentioned i would agree with. However, I would have to add "The Dirty Dozen" to the list. love those movies. Rambo series, Patton, Kelley's Heroes, Behind Enemy Lines, The Kingdom.

U.S. Navy Shoots Down Target Drones with Laser “Death-Ray

From the video it looks like you'd never see it coming. -
In a long gun yes, but in a handgun not so much. Like Tim said, by the time you've hit the trigger stop the bullet is long gone. However, the more wiggle you have the longer it takes to require the target which does affect accuracy because you start rushing. From what I've read, that is where speed comes from. The time it takes to get back on target, not necessarily the speed of the trigger. Big reason why the reset trigger technique is so fast.

I've not shot one, but of the many I've handled the quality was on the lower end. Similar to a Wasr (which in essence it is) with some really cheap furniture. Of course all that is cosmetic on an AK and doesn't affect any thing other than pride.
-
I sure do like those. Lets us know how it is when you get it. I have the Recon 1 tanto and really like it.

However, you could always "rent" one indefinitely. J/K

Used to they would print most of their prices except for the FN prices. I was told it was because they are a FN distributor and didn't want to make the local stores mad. Didn't work i don't think.

We agree, but for a more philosophical approach - Generally speaking (in the context of the OP) conservatism is governed by fairly rigid principles of right and wrong as laid out in the Constitution. So we do have a very clear moral compass. That's why it is so easy to spot when we are off or violate those principles and liberals LOVE to call us on it. Liberalism is rooted in current ideas and perception of emotions (hedonism) so how ever they feel at the moment guides their ideology. It's like nailing jello to the wall.

wow! That's a whole lot of assuption and reading between the lines. I said government. I didn,t differentiate.
